Master Bates Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 SAINTS captain Kelvin Davis will report back to the club despite almost being out of contract. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4437764.Time_is_running_out_for_Saints_to_keep_Davis/?ref=rss
St.Patrik Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 A true legend - please stay Kelvin - Saints needs you.
brightspark Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Sounds like the choice isn't in Kelvin's hands at the moment, but i'm confident that when the takeover is finalised, getting his contract sorted will be one of the first priorities. I think Kelvin will know this, also, so I wouldn't be reading into sensationalised news stories.
JustMike Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 thats the problem with this takeover taking so long. I hate to put a downer on the big countdown this week, but what IF it goes tits up? Yes, ok there is supposed to be the overseas lot waiting in the wings but will they then have to pay the £500,000 and take another 21 days exclusivity?

IMO if this goes tits up, something will have to happen in a short amount of time (around a week) or we will fold. There won't be another 21 days exclusivity, we simply don't have time for it.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Can 'Due Diligence' findings be transferred from one party to another , or would any new bidders have to start from scratch ?
chocco boxo Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 It is not just Davis we should be worried about, we need a few more outfield players! Come on Pinnacle get your ****in finger out!
Master Bates Posted 15 June, 2009 Author Posted 15 June, 2009 That's the only thing in the Echo today.
stanthemanfairoak Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 That's the only thing in the Echo today.very thin echo today then?
Saints foreva Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 It is not just Davis we should be worried about, we need a few more outfield players! Come on Pinnacle get your ****in finger out! The official transfer market don't open until 1st July. Every transfer done before is just a pre-signed contract. We still have plenty of time to sign players.

foghorn Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Love the way the Echo says he is reporting back from training despite his contract almost being up. I came into work on friday despite it almost being the weekend.

It will alos mean -25 points. It is paramount that Pinnacle sees it through this week.
Plonko Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Nothing is going to happen before the end of the week. There's no news, so the Echo in it's desperation to come up with a something Saints related has to go with a "Time is running out for XXX" story.

Channon's Sideburns Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Not new news...if you get what I mean... Basically, the Echo haven't found anything on here to run on their back pages... Although that scurrilous rumour thread would be fun on the back page...Gender Reassignments ????? Haha...
paulwantsapint Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Doubt Kelv minds training without a contract as he knows that he has got a job next season even if he has to wait till aug 31st 11.55 pm to finalise it
Saint Bones Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Love the way the Echo says he is reporting back from training despite his contract almost being up. I came into work on friday despite it almost being the weekend. Sounds like Davis was told it isn't compulsury for him to turn up to pre-season fitness training due to him contractual status. Bloody good work for turning up KD - Please whoeever is the powers that be lets re-sign Kelvin. For once Id like to see us build from the back. KD and a solid back four to START a season for once.
Bailey Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 I'm sure the potential new owners have spoken with the out-of-contract players to give them an indication as to whether or not they will be offered a new deal. Kelvin will almost certainly be offered another contract on much reduced terms, and I genuinely believe that he'll stay at Saints. Time will tell though.
scott_saints Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 One good season out of FOUR, lets gets real. Do be quiet.
Lets B Avenue Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 One good season out of FOUR, lets gets real. T w a t. Its 3 actually.
madsent Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Of course he's back at the club. His contract does not expire for a few days so he's still an employee and needs to start regaining his fitness. I think it might be in both parties' best interests for him to leave however. He deserves to join a Championship team on last season's form and we would probably do just as well with a big lump in goal on a fraction of his wages.
The9 Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Love the way the Echo says he is reporting back from training despite his contract almost being up. I came into work on friday despite it almost being the weekend. Exactly. He's a Saints player until June 30th, just as Wotte's the Head Coach until then - unless we're wound up before that, which at least looks unlikely for the moment. Equally, the "running out of time" thing is garbage, the 21 days are up on Friday, when we'll either have everything in place in which case there's a good week or so to get him to sign a new deal which they've already discussed; or we basically won't have a football club, in which case one player's contract which expires anyway would be the least of our problems.
The9 Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 One good season out of FOUR, lets gets real. I'd be inclined to say 2 and a half good seasons out of 3, and I was one of the ones REALLY slating him after the clangers against QPR and Preston (and one at Leicester most people have forgotten). Then again if Bart hadn't gone backwards post Play-Off dropping I might not have been so generous.
