OldNick Posted 12 June, 2009 Share Posted 12 June, 2009 Because he's an excellent business man who has built a brand with a superb world-wide reputation that people love to work for. He creates a buzz, gives up considerable time and effort for charity and is great to work for and with. i went on one of his planes last week......the worst airflight food i have had in years. I was amazed also that when we had boarded the aircraft for takeoff it was announced by the captain that a mobile phone had been found in the departure lounge and he had it, would the owner make themselves known and they'd give it back to them!! kpturner Posted 12 June, 2009 Share Posted 12 June, 2009 I dont think Branson is likely to put more into something than he gets out.He is Mr Publicity, it will be balloon rides all over again. If he keeps us having a club so be it, but fans have to remember that we are likely to get a RL Mk2 as in things being run for profit. Branson is much more customer friendly though That implies that you would prefer someone who is willing to chuck more money in than he gets back and someone who will be willing to run the club at a loss. Doesn't that just mean we would be back in the **** if they get run over by a bus? I think someone who is rich enough to get it back on its feet then run it as a viable business (possibly with some profit) is infinitely preferable, so if your assessment of Branson is correct he would be ideal. Im all for us to be run in a businesslike fashion, afterall i was in favour of much of what RL did in that respect. I like many others had hoped we would get somebody who doesnt really care and might make it exciting to support us again. If it is run as a profitmaking business i do hope the fans are ready for it, as I cant see it being much better, in fact probably worse than last season as the revenue in is likely to be very poor.
