Danny Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 £80 million. Mental. Liverpool in with a chance next season now?... Not a chance. United with £80m to spend on new players? Just think what Fergie could do with that. What is depressing is that Ronaldo is worth almost six times what Saints are, according to the Echo. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/football/4432150.Manchester_Utd_accept___80m_bid_for_Ronaldo/

Baj Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 makes fantasy football better next season guessing Ribery and Benzema coming in then? Ribery is too good to be playing in the Bundesliga. 2 years at Bayern is enough for any star of that quality, he needs to be in prem, la liga now. And I say that as a Bayern fan

Also Frank R doesn't want to play in England he said the climates to similar to German weather.

Ronaldo will be impossible to replace. Tevez looks to be off as well. Some players, eg Neville, Giggs, Scholes, Van Der Saar etc... are way past their best. And as mentioned above, they probably won't have all that £80m to spend on new players.

Saint Martini Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 If Liverpool get a couple of key players they will be in with a real shout next year. Chelsea are the unknowns as well. If Torres and Gerrard stay fit for a whole season they already have those players. This will hurt Manu, who are they going to buy for 80 million (if they can even spend this and don't have to use it to pay of Glazers debts). Ronaldo was the difference in a lot of tight matches and I expects Manu to lose a lot of those next year. I wonder what kind of money you can get for an Arsenal title atm. OldNick Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 I dont rate Ribery. United would be better to get Eto or Henry. Both would be at a reasonable price..unless it is the return of the Horse.

stevegrant Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 Real will be good to watch next year. Hope they sign a defender or two. They'll be good fun to watch next season for car-crash viewing reasons. Florentino Perez has very clearly learnt precisely nothing since his last spell as president. Signing every big-name attacking player under the sun for over-inflated transfer fees doesn't tend to work too well when you've got a defence made of biscuits. Doctoroncall Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 They may be in debt but their income covers the payments they have to make no problem. And nothing to purchase players. That's the problem the debt remains the same (if fact it's gone up a little because money has been used to buy players) even though they are EPL winners and get through to the CL knock out stages. Andy_Porter Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 I would fancy liverpool for the title providing they keep alonso, and gerrard/torres stay fit all season. Liverpool will certainly have the most settled side. If Benitez doesn't win it for them next season he should be sacked or resign as I doubt he will ever get an easier chance to win the league. Not really sure who United will buy, Valencia looks a done deal and maybe Silva to play on the left with Rooney taking a more prominent role through the middle. Chelsea are in with a shout as always just depends how Ancelotti does and what sort of players he brings in.

Tevez is no great loss according to Manure fans i know, he works hard but has a poor first touch and no pace. Giggs has had his best season in years in a different role hence why he was voted player of the year. Ronaldo will win nothing at Real Madrid no matter how many attacking players they buy they will still be poor in defence and 2nd best to Barca and alot of other teams in the champions league.
