My personal opinion of Mike Osman is just that. I don't particularly like him as a comedian/dj in the same way I don't care for the likes of Jim Davidson, Roy Chubby Brown, Jon Guant, Alan Brazil, Darren Gough, Ian Hislop, Rory Bremner, The Pub Landlord (whatever his name is) etc etc.

 

IMO the way he destroyed the Alan Ball memorial with his banshee antics on the microphone personally made me cringe. At the Q&A evening where I expect some people without such a major axe to grind with Lowe attended the evening quietly did not appreciate his parading of the picture of Lowe with the noose above his head. Was that in keeping with the spirit of the evening because to some I would guess it was as unwelcome as it was unfunny. That of course was made worse by the sight of McMenemy in the background smiling away all the while wiping the previous two seasons from their collective memory.

 

There are many, you included whose views and actions I respect. Many of those in fact who are on the other side of the scale with regard to my opinions but even though they may not have Osman's privilege status of being about to speak publicly at events like the legends evening they still manage to conduct themselves with more sympathy to both sides of the fence regardless of where the majority stands. As I say that is just my opinion.

As for why the financier is staying in the background, I would think he is very aware of the all intrusive nature of the media and intends to stay out of it.

 

I would be surprised if in fact he ever comes forward. It is my view at the moment that the club and assets will be owned by companies, the directors of which will be nominees. The holding company will be owned by another company and that will be registered offshore, such as the Cayman Ialands and the owner will quietly run it through Pinnacle as long as it works.

You're not supposed to be able to do that under Football League rules. You have to declare the beneficial owner, which is not necessarily the same as the apparent owner. In the end, it's the Football League's train set and they can take it away if they feel like it.

Correct the benificial owner of a football club has to be declared and they have to pass FPP . The "Owner" would have to be a Director on the SPV purchasing the club.

Couple of points on this.. firstly, even with the above tangled web is it not still possible for a determined person (or national media) to chase down the audit trail and come up with the name at the end of the line?

 

Secondly, might it be better to avoid such intrusion and come clean up front, especially as people are already worried about the stature of Pinnacle to broker such a deal and if Pinnacle are left as "the owners" these same people may well worry that there never was a multi millionaire behind the deal and it was all smoke and mirrors.

 

For the record I am cheering for Pinnacle and can't wait for our new era, however I still can't fathom why a MM would want to buy a football club yet remain incognito and only get involved to sign the cheques.

 

Perhaps, in reality that's the big ruse and on settlement day a huge party will break out with the REAL new owner dancing on the table and leading the fun for all to see..... :smt113

At best all it's doing is feeding the rumour mill which is odd given the source of the original post. It appears none of us will know the answer until the time is right which of course is the new owner's perogative and although I would like to know their identity I respect and understand why they would prefer to remain behind the scenes.
