Master Bates Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 The Swiss Consortium (money coming from Zurich) that was in the running to buy Saints is still keen on a deal and will make a move if Pinnacle fail. Todays Echo.
doggface Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 I expect pinnacle to wrap things up, however if they hit a snag it is positive that there are people waiting in the wings. Why are people panicking? I'm sure tl will update in due course but he is a busy man right now. Have a bit of belief for once.
miserableoldgit Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 From todays Daily Mail:- Saints like Swiss timing Southampton have another option if the Pinnacle Group consortium, who have paid £500,000 to the administrators for an exclusive negotiating period, fail to complete the deal. A bluechip Swiss pharmaceutical company are also keen on buying the League One club — once described as Chelsea-on-Sea by the late Stamford Bridge benefactor Matthew Harding — and would have put down a deposit if property consultants Pinnacle hadn’t beaten them to it. Doubts remain about Pinnacle’s resources but consortium leader Tony Lynam says they have 10 times the necessary money while administrator Mark Fry says Pinnacle have satisfied his checks.
Third Division South Days Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Seems to me that the Echo are struggling to keep the story going without any new info. For what ever reason all they can as they do not appear to now being fed any info they are stirring the pot

Why would a pharmaceutical company want to purchase a football club. I am not sure shareholders of that company would be impressed.
OldNick Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Why would a pharmaceutical company want to purchase a football club. I am not sure shareholders of that company would be impressed. Depends they might make Viagra, and turn us into double hard ba#####s

I don't know why they are interested in Saints but many football clubs in the Germanic world are owned by companies.

St Columb Saint Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Probably being paid by the profits made from sales of anti depressants (sp) sold around the Southampton area
once_bitterne Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Pinnacle deal did collapse. There is something about it that doesn't really feel right to me! Maybe it's the fact that if history has taught us anything it is to be very wary of people hoping to gain control of SFC who feel it necessary to post messages on internet fans message boards......

SuperSAINT Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Depends they might make Viagra, and turn us into double hard ba#####s Well if they were, they'd have no problems getting us up.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 From todays Daily Mail:- the Pinnacle Group consortium, who have paid £500,000 to the administrators for an exclusive negotiating period So can we take it that Pinnacle did indeed pay 500k for exclusivity ?

Maybe it's the fact that if history has taught us anything it is to be very wary of people hoping to gain control of SFC who feel it necessary to post messages on internet fans message boards...... TBF people like Tony Lynham can`t win. People are desperate for info. TL was (if I remember correctly) asked to post an update on here and did so. He also posted again in the wake of the Ted Rogers "affair" to reassure everyone that things were progressing well. I am not aware of any other postings from him unless they were so subtle that I missed them. "Damned if you do - damned if you don`t!"

krissyboy31 Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pharmaceutical_companies In that case, only Hoffman La Roche will do!!
Junior Mullet Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 So can we take it that Pinnacle did indeed pay 500k for exclusivity ? I would think so, yes. It's typical to have such a non-refundable deposit paid in return for exclusivity for a set period for deals like this.
Clapham Saint Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Why would a pharmaceutical company want to purchase a football club. I am not sure shareholders of that company would be impressed. That was my first thought too...
trousers Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 (edited) Why would a pharmaceutical company want to purchase a football club. I am not sure shareholders of that company would be impressed. Looking at that Wiki page of leading pharmaceutical companies, one of the Swiss companies (Nycomed) is privately owned, the biggest 'shareholder' being Nordic Capital (who just happen to be head-officed in Jersey). Nordic Capital have investments in many diverse companies. Edited 10 June, 2009 by trousers
trousers Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 I own two Swiss watches, does that make me ITK? Time will tell
krissyboy31 Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 IMO the pharmaceutical link is probably a red herring. If there is a Swiss group looking to take over, it is likely to be a financial institution or possibly something to do with the Swatch group (due to Omega's link to Southampton/Eastleigh).

OldNick Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Chelsea-On-Sea? Why?I think it was because we are a trendy place , a big club and by the water. He was from this way, i know his ill fated pilot lived near my business.

Recycling drug money? :o To boost their image no doubt; Bayern (Munich and Leverkusen) are originally drug (and chemical) manufacturers teams.

No idea why he had a fondness for Saints, though he obviously did.
