Window Cleaner Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 http://www.exeweb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32442&page=2 post 13 - interesting how other fans see it Swansea are approaching Gary Speed for the job-well I think they are anyway.
NickG Posted 9 June, 2009 Author Posted 9 June, 2009 We will still be sought after job - particularly with MLT,
Matthew Le God Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/8087959.stm Don't need to panic just yet if Saints do want him
SKATE_HATE Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 Interesting how many of them say what he has achieved over the last two seasons is purely luck and Perryman.
Bailey Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 I agree with the poster on the Exeter forum; Saints would be a better move for Tisdale. Realistically, I can't see Swansea pushing on any further. They've lost their manager and rumours are going round suggesting that their key players, such as Jason Scotland, are also set to leave. The same applies to Exeter too IMO. They've been brilliant in recent seasons and getting into League One is a massive achievement for them, but do they have what it takes to maintain their success? The best they can hope for is to preserve their League One status, so Tisdale may need to leave to further his own career. If Tisdale took over at Saints, he'd have a chance to build us up again and get us back into The Championship, with the long-term ambition of pushing on into the EPL. PT strikes me as a man who likes to build his own side and he'd have a great chance to do that here. Add to that the fact that he has previous ties with Saints and it could be an attractive job for him.
NickG Posted 9 June, 2009 Author Posted 9 June, 2009 I get the feeling Nick likes Paul Tisdale... tbh don't really know him well, just feel it would be really positive long term appointment with no baggage to unite us etc.
krissyboy31 Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 Interesting how many of them say what he has achieved over the last two seasons is purely luck and Perryman. Yes, I couldn't work out whether they actually rate him or not. Many said it was more down to Perryman and others said he was a lucky manager. This could have been a bluff towards the Swansea fan? Mind you, I wouldn't mind a lucky manager for once!
SB Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 Spoken to him regularly from his time working at Bath, But Is he the type of manager needed to take us beyond the championship? I don’t think so.
Scudamore Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 tbh don't really know him well, just feel it would be really positive long term appointment with no baggage to unite us etc. Well don't keep it to yourself...let everyone know! ;-)
Kenilworthy Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 Spoken to him regularly from his time working at Bath, But Is he the type of manager needed to take us beyond the championship? I don’t think so. Yes but we are already beyond the championship. He might be able to get us back into it and that would do me for the next two or three years.
Mr Nice Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 tbh don't really know him well, just feel it would be really positive long term appointment with no baggage to unite us etc. Sorry football fans have never been united. If Tisdale was brought in i get the feeling that many fans would be hugely underwhelmed. Certainly i believe Perryman has been key to what Tisdale has achieved. Fans will be saying multi millionaire owner and he brings in a budget basement manager.
70's Mike Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 Sorry football fans have never been united. If Tisdale was brought in i get the feeling that many fans would be hugely underwhelmed. He MAY BE multi millionaire but no guarantee he is going to spend it on a manager
aintforever Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 I would be happy with Tisdale but would maybe go for someone with more experience, it all depends on how much cash we have though.
NickG Posted 9 June, 2009 Author Posted 9 June, 2009 poll suggests more would unite than many others.
Tac-tics Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 A chap my old man works with has stated Tisdale is someone MLT has had a chat with regarding the saints job, thats all he had been told.
paulwantsapint Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 You have to give young managers a chance to prove themselves otherwise we might as well just give Lawrie Mac the job even if his last proper job was actually when was it?
sotonswan Posted 9 June, 2009 Posted 9 June, 2009 Realistically, I can't see Swansea pushing on any further. They've lost their manager and rumours are going round suggesting that their key players, such as Jason Scotland, are also set to leave. Steady on. You make Swansea sound like Wigan . . . . . or Saints. I doubt it will be Tisdale for manager at Swans. New manager supposed to be announced on Friday. So with Martinez officially resigning tomorrow, the timing of the approach for Speed makes sense. Speed ticks a lot of boxes and is ready now for his chance IMHO. I'm not putting any money on it though. ATB
saint_mears Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Tisdale not going anywhere http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10436~1689622,00.html
Badger Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Tisdale not going anywhere http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10436~1689622,00.html ..until MLT gives him a call and persuades him how he can fulfill his potential etc.
saint_mears Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 ..until MLT gives him a call and persuades him how he can fulfill his potential etc. He wouldnt be allowed to give him a call.
saintjay77 Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Tisdale not going anywhere http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10436~1689622,00.html Those buggers have stollen our OS FFS!
ribbo Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Those buggers have stollen our OS FFS! or maybe they just hired the same 8 year old to design it?
Victor Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Let Swansea have Tisdale and we can have Speed. Unfortunately, I suspect Speed will be offered the Swansea job and that he will take it.
DT Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 He wouldnt be allowed to give him a call. Yes, that's right. That never happens in football. PS I once went over 70mph on a motorway. FACT!
buctootim Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Tisdale not going anywhere http://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10436~1689622,00.html Reads to me as if they know they wont be able to hold on to him.
saint_mears Posted 10 June, 2009 Posted 10 June, 2009 Reads to me as if they know they wont be able to hold on to him. You dont make that sort of statement and then rollover when someone comes calling. I would say hes going nowhere for at least a year and to be honest. He is clearly a double act with Perryman anyway.
