The Farmer Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Im a BIIIIIIG fan of this kit. Without the saints logo on the bottom right though...
Griffo Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 There's the saints badge on the right arm too. The umbro logo and the crest seem a bit too far apart, but apart from that, it's nice.
The Farmer Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 (edited) There's the saints badge on the right arm too. Thought the 'watermark' was a nice touch, but if you want rid.... And, unfortunately, I think it will be hard to find any design that doesn't resemble a previous incarnation SOB, we have had about 27 variations of the old red and white thus far lol!!! I actually like the quarters myself, but think its to retro too be wheeled out in 2009. It would make us stand out though!!! Edited 11 June, 2009 by The Farmer
Son of Bob Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 I reckon the quarters would be great for this season. 'A Fresh Start' and all that...
DaveyR Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Big fan of the quarters, as they say a leap away from the stripes for a while to signify a new beginning!
The9 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Thought the 'watermark' was a nice touch, but if you want rid.... The "watermark" is certainly a feature of the new 09/10 Umbro shirts so it's not out of place...
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Ok, so the home shirt should be Red and White, but what is there that says the away kit has to be yellow and blue? Why not get really creative and design something completely new for a new era? New colours etc.
The9 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 (edited) I reckon the quarters would be great for this season. 'A Fresh Start' and all that... I'm assuming that if we get bought out the contract will remain in place and we'll have the same home kit - seeing as its all still full price. Now a yellow/blue quartered away kit, that would be vomitastic, especially with the contrasting flybe colours in the middle as they now insist on a plain background. I do like the one Dav posted, would look great if someone tidied it up a little, or maybe mocked up the West Ham style in those colours (stripe is a bit narrow though). Umbro kits this season are remarkably bland, the plain collars, thin panel of contrasting colour down each side of the shirts and shorts and the fussy multiple lines on the top of the socks are pretty weak characteristics, only the watermark stands out, and that's hardly original. We're not going to be getting the "classic" tailored look of the England kit like Man City have got either. Sunderland away kit (dull cack IMHO) : Hearts away (weeeeak) : Image has been withdrawn from the source at the request of Umbro... Blackburn (meh) : Edited 11 June, 2009 by The9
solentstars Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Im a BIIIIIIG fan of this kit. Without the saints logo on the bottom right though... looks nice, miles better then the rubbish one we have at the moment.
The9 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 (edited) looks nice, miles better then the rubbish one we have at the moment. Disagree, I think the current home kit is one of the best we've ever had. It's plain, except the red shoulder bits which aren't particularly intrusive. I think last season's Sunderland kit is miles better than their new one as well. I'm not sure I like the big plain panel at the top of the chest of some of the new Umbro kits - the Hearts one, for instance has shadow striping up to the chest but no pattern above that - the West Ham away seems to have a line of sorts at the top of the advert too. Still, at least it's not a pointless seam like THIS one : Though all in all I think that's an awesome retro-style kit. Edited 11 June, 2009 by The9
capitalsaint Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 i am a big fan of the quarters... can someone make a poll with these designs? i'd love to see someone try a man city third-esque shirt with a red sash, to really take it back to the st mary's youth days
The9 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 i am a big fan of the quarters... can someone make a poll with these designs? i'd love to see someone try a man city third-esque shirt with a red sash, to really take it back to the st mary's youth days I'd quite like to see a yellow with blue/white diagonal, or a sky blue with navy/white, like the last two Premiership away/third kit colours.
St David Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Red and whire hoops would be different for us, not seen that done before.
The9 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Dammit, knew I should have copied that Hearts kit before they "cease and desisted" it... well, it just looks like the Sunderland away one but in light blue and navy anyway. I forgot to mention how nice the Man City sponsor looks on the diagonal sash kit - not like Man City need the money from Etihad, but nice touch to have the sponsor logo small and under the badge rather than messing up the diagonal lines.
forever a red and white Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 just keep the red and white stripes thanks
The9 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 just keep the red and white stripes thanks Can't argue with that.
graymalkin33 Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Can't argue with that. Yes you can lol In League 1. Time for a fresh start. I like most of the above shirts. I have a feeling this years shirt will be the same as the old one maybe with the exception of the odd bit of black trim.
Crab Lungs Posted 11 June, 2009 Author Posted 11 June, 2009 Goddamn, I hate it when my Photoshop trial runs out. :-( Erm, can anyone, errr.... offer any assistance? Pretty please...
Iowsaintsfan Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 The Farmer had a play.... I love this, though id remove the watermark from the sleeve not the bottom
Crab Lungs Posted 11 June, 2009 Author Posted 11 June, 2009 (edited) It's OK, I appeared to have 'cracked' it. Anyway, latest offerings, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.... with the 3rd being adaptable so that you can mix and match it with the 1st... Edited 11 June, 2009 by Crab Lungs
Crab Lungs Posted 11 June, 2009 Author Posted 11 June, 2009 This sudden desire to start designing Saints kits is not only for my own amusement, but also I am following my dream: The day The9 says he'd buy one of the kits I've designed.
Bailey Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 The Farmer had a play.... This is my favourite without doubt. Would be cracking to have a new shirt like this to signal a new era at Saints. Have we worked out whether or not we're due a new home kit yet? I'm pretty sure we're getting a new away kit, but not certain on the rest.
GeckoSaint Posted 11 June, 2009 Posted 11 June, 2009 Saints are due a new away shirt this coming season & judging by history it's either gonna be yellow or blue. Personally I'd like to see: or
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 12 June, 2009 Posted 12 June, 2009 What's the software that people are using to desing these kits? Where can I get my hands on a copy? Cheers.

I like the home kit, none of them are current Umbro templates though, and the socks SUCK (the red on the home and 3rd kits don't match either and personally I'd cover the colour options with black socks on the third kit). The shorts look remarkably like the UEFA Cup ones, and the red on the yellow kit is absolutely vile. But I would buy the home one, and I already bought the 3rd one, kinda. Needless to say I like Gecko's ones better, especially the yellow stripe version, even if they do still have the Hammers crossed on the inside of the collar. I still want the wide stripe style like Birmingham had last season.

We're not due a new home kit unless administration/debts somehow voided the contract with Umbro, otherwise the situation was that at the start of last season "all kits were one season", but then when flybe announced they'd stay on as sponsor we kept the home kit for next season as well. Its plastered all over the club shop in West Quay that the home shirt is until the end of 2010, there's no doubt really, especially as they have loads of stock left.

Plus they have continued to sell it as "next season's" kit at full price. Anyone who bought one after that announcement was made, could quite rightly demand a refund.

Personally I'd like to see: or It certainly won't be the navy/sky kit as this is identical to West Ham, but the template could of course be used for us in the navy/yellow, or yellow/blue combination.Amber/black would be good.
Crab Lungs Posted 12 June, 2009 Author Posted 12 June, 2009 What's the software that people are using to desing these kits? Where can I get my hands on a copy? Cheers. Photoshop CS3 or CS4... Badger Posted 12 June, 2009 Posted 12 June, 2009 The West Ham away strip is not disimilar in design to Blackburns new change strip : http://www.kitbag.com/stores/kitbag_4_5/sale/product_details.aspx?pid=45576&cid=2864 so this is obviously at the fore of Umbro's designs for this season.

Except that isn't Blackburn's new away strip. It's last seasons. This years is all white. Change the blue bits to black and it would make a great away kit for us.
superstevesaints Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 Like it Email this design to Umbro, I would buy it, looks great!
Nexstar Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 It's OK, I appeared to have 'cracked' it. Anyway, latest offerings, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.... with the 3rd being adaptable so that you can mix and match it with the 1st... First one is nice but could do with a bit more red. Second one it just horrible Third is my favourite, especially with the black arms.
saint_mears Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 We are going to need something fresh next season for the 125 year anniversary of the clubs formation.
matthieu Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 I really like the quarters, someone should email the club and show them that kit as that really looks superb
Arizona Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 It's OK, I appeared to have 'cracked' it. Anyway, latest offerings, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.... with the 3rd being adaptable so that you can mix and match it with the 1st... Love the first one. Indifferent to the second. I think that shade of yellow looks a bit dull and it looks very similar to the kit we got relegated without ever winning a game in. Third one looks too much like this years training kit for me. Personally I think a dark green with black trim kit would look awesome.
georgeg Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 The Farmer had a play.... the farmer done good - I would buy that without doubt - a quality shirt - like the Saints logo at the bottom and the "proper" badge great efforts by all but PLEASE do not put the Saints badge in a poxy shield - it should be on its own as per the current shirt!
B Rabbit Posted 13 June, 2009 Posted 13 June, 2009 I still want the wide stripe style like Birmingham had last season. Ok then...the9.. Did a couple more because i can....bit Ajax and Barcelona-ish tho...rah!
EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2009 Posted 14 June, 2009 Ok then...the9.. Did a couple more because i can....bit Ajax and Barcelona-ish tho...rah! The style of kit many would like to see IMO, but need to switch the colours round the other way. Not a fan of the round badge either, keep it as just the creast and will look much nicer.

Not a fan of the round badge either, keep it as just the creast and will look much nicer. I think that if the crest sits on a red surface then it needs to be within White shape to pronounce it further otherwise it becomes less significant.... By doing it that way it becomes the focus of the shirt. I'll switch the colours round the other way and see how it comes out... If the crest sits on White it probably won't need any backing. I have a feeling by changing the colours round the kit will be be White and red... Not red and White..... If that makes sense. I'll hve a go when I have a spare 10mins!
Arcadian Posted 14 June, 2009 Posted 14 June, 2009 That rising sun one would be a good training top or t-shirt. Take note Club Shop!!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 14 June, 2009 Posted 14 June, 2009 It's OK, I appeared to have 'cracked' it. Anyway, latest offerings, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.... with the 3rd being adaptable so that you can mix and match it with the 1st... Home shirt is ok. The yellow kit looks like a third shirt we had back in '94 when we were sponsored by Dimplex. The White shirt looks like an updated version of the away shirt from a couple of seasons ago.
Badger Posted 14 June, 2009 Posted 14 June, 2009 That rising sun one would be a good training top or t-shirt. Take note Club Shop!! A bit too Alphaville.( ) ie big in Japan if you can't be bothered with the link.I wouldn't bother either frankly.
graymalkin33 Posted 14 June, 2009 Posted 14 June, 2009 Love them! Would be interested to se the colours reversed
