southampton midfielder andrew surman has said he is uncertain what the future holds for him, following interest from sheffield united.

united have made an undisclosed bid, but surman said it hasnt gone any further yet.

he told radio solent ''i havnt thought about it too much until it actually moves forward''

''until the takeover at saints goes through, then we are in a bit of a limbo''

thats him gone then.

If that's the BBC article you're referring to (always useful to link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8089055.stm), he's said two things amounting to "I haven't really thought about it" and "I'll be back for training on June 22nd".

Can't win, can he ? Terrible reporting by the BBC with the headline though, he's done nothing of the sort and the article even contradicts the headline.

What he's actually said is "I know exactly what's happening at this moment".

He won't be here. If he can refind his best form he's good enough for the CCC.

shame he wasn't last season.

well spotted Patrik,

This short item (Daily Mail) says Mick McCarthy (Wolves) is willing to let Saints name their price for Surman. Now thats more like it !

As a new Prem.club they'll have their £60 million (from TV) next season. OK, I know it's ONLY £60 million, and it wouldn't buy Ronaldo's left leg - but it's nice money to have.

I reckon we ought to ask ...£3 million + sell-on clause, in the event of him moving to one of the " big four " in 2-3 years time. Thats a good deal.

good luck Drew....of course you'll go - its the Premiership - who wouldn't ?.

radio solent reported that surman's on his way to wolves

Mmmm. ?

reported that he IS on his way...or reported, that a report said he MAYBE ?...

or that he is having a medical (thats a far more credible -if true) .....or ?

........it's still a long road to the contract signing.

IF so ....let's hope there's a sell-on clause in the contract!

Not quite what I heard. More like "the way is open for Surman to play in the premiership after Sheff united drop out leaving wolves able to buy him". Presumably there is still no one at Saints able to agree a price for him, or indeed to reject an offer.

Interesting that a premiership club wants and rates Drew, in contrast to the slagging off he gets from some on here. Obviously experienced professional premiership managers are far less able to assess a player than certain Saints fans! ;-)

If he does go it will be a shame. A local lad, and a fan, and with real talent IMO. Good luck to him.

Wolves would mean we got a better price for him hopefully. Drew has quality on the ball and a super shot on him but McCarthy is a good manager for him. He'll beef Drew up on his upper half and work on Drew's stamina which is where he has struggled with the poor coaching since Snodin left (Pearson was only here for a short time) the club. He could do well for Wolves and certainly won't be as kitten weak by Christmas.

Radio Solent actually said that the Sheff Utd bid had been rejected, but that there had been a fresh bid in from Wolves. I'm sure Drew wouldn't want to turn that down, even if it meant losing as many games next season as he did with us!

Unless his left leg is considerably more valuable proportionately than the rest of his body I would have thought that £60 would be quite sufficient for this part of his anatomy. Then again one has to question the viability, and hence the value, of his left leg without the considerable benefit that the rest of his body brings to the overall package.

Even so, I reckon £60 would be a bargain ;)

Probably go for a few thousand on Ebay ;)

We could have some cash and we have Craddock and Vokes as part of the deal;)

Lowe had chance to sign Vokes but turned it down !! Craddock just going to sign new one year contract with Wolves !!

Looking more likely that we will be going with most of the lads from last season...Bet we didn't even challenge Real for Ronaldo or Kaka.:)

I think Bournemouth had plenty to say about that Fos. They needed the money from his sale to help towards the administrators fees.I was told the whole fee paid those!!!

Lowe would not pay the fee Bournemouth had in mind, but the lad was desperate to play for Saints, he waited and waited for a deal to be sorted, in the end he gave up and signed for Wolves !!! Him and his Dad massive Saints fans .
