If it was the pikey looking mong in the striped top hanging around one of those blue boxes near the top of the bridge at about half 4 then he didn't look like he had any intention of jumping.

Can of fosters in his hand, gobbing off to 2 kids walking over.

Luckily he didn't affect my journey home.

What normally can take me 20 minutes to get home, took me 2 hours stuck in traffic because of that commotion on the Itchen Bridge.

If i had got anywhere near the person threatening to jump,i would have pushed them off myself.

Next time can they do it at three in the morning?

I have NEVER seen the sand/dirt/whatever under Itchen Bridge, always water! FACT.

Quite often i see water beneath, and i often want to launch my mobile into it, no idea why

You really are thick.

Theres always water under the bridge but at low tide it is very shallow so anybody jumping will likely die. If they jump at high tide theres a chance they'll get pulled out by lifeboat.

I have seen the cr@p a lot of times when the tide goes out, but then I did used to work for Vospers.

My nan commited suicide.

My mate commited suicide too, yes I miss him but tbf I still think he's a c**t for doing it.

i was affected by the idiot! I left work early to beat the rush caused by the northam bridge road works only to find the Itchen bridge closed off. It took me an hour to get from the small round a bout by the itchen bridge to the traffic lights by the prince of wales pub. Was quite funny hearing other ****ed off drivers shouting at the OB telling them to push him off and open the bridge.

Don't be silly.

Old people can't jump.

I just thought it was white people

(Before people complain I was refereing to the film with the title of White Men Can't Jump. Quite a bad film but you do get to see the bird's boobies in it)

Why are police in Bitterne appealing for witnesses? It's blooming miles away from there, no?

And sad as the news is for the poor bugger, I do love journalese - why did he "plunge" from the bridge? Didn't he "fall" or "jump"?

poor old guy.....but by the sounds of it , at least he didnt p1ss about hummin n harring as to whether he was gonna do it or not...he just did it.

i don't know him or anything about him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had recently become a widower.....

Not like the bloke on the M5 end of August then who had a little think about it for 7 hrs whilst they shut all 5 lanes Northbound resulting in a 35 mile tailback and the South West grinding to a standstill.
