Pinnacle on brink of collapse?

Recommended Posts

Apart from a phone call I mentioned on here a while back I have not heard anything more on the subject and my contacts still assure me matters are progressing in the right direction.

IF the rumour is coming out of the city I find it strange as no one seems to know who the money man is. There has been speculation on and off the site but I can confirm that Sky have no idea who it is. I have also spoken to a Chairman of a plc with strong connections to the city and he does not know. Bearing in mind he was with LeTissier a week or so ago would suggest to me LeTiss does not know the identity either.

I am not too worried by this rumour. Pinnacle were given 21 days to complete. Let's leave them to it and not worry about what we do not know. That is my take on it all.

Didn't Pinnacle already make an offer for the club that has been seen as acceptable by Fry and the creditors?

Or did I dream it?

you are 100% correct. Source: Lynam & Fry.

Just by way of comparison, everyone was panicking when Pinnacle went quite for a few days before finally doing their deal. Of course they did this on purpose to prevent their competition from knowing when they were going to pounce... and it worked. Now people are panicking because we haven't heard anything for a few days. I for one am thankful that we haven't, as silence to me suggests everything is all under control.

Good luck Pinnacle and thanks for saving SFC

Dear All

I have been contacted by a large number of people that use this forum given our entering into an exclusivity period for the purchase of Southampton Leisure Holdings (which to the man on the street and pretty much all supporters relates the Club itself).

One of the Administrators from this site, Rob, has asked me to do a short session where you may pose questions to me concerning our impending takeover. I will be more than happy to oblidge, in due course.

I will however in the meantime offer you a few words of comfort. You will no doubt have seen various articles in news papers, news clips etc. I was originally asked by a group of 4 very wealthy business people to become involved with their proposed takeover of SFC. I politely declined their offer of 'employment' since I just knew that because this was such a public matter, my own life for a short period of time would enter into the media circus. As many of you who know me personally will know, I am far from a shy retiring character, but equally I don't enjoy people phoning me up asking my business, or shoving cameras outside of my office, or even home. The more harsh of you could perhaps joke that I "have a face for radio"!

In the end, the group/consortium changed my mind, and to be honest I am now quite glad that they did. Part of what changed my mind was a chat over a coffee with Matt (Le Tissier), where I could see the pure passion and belief that we could make this a success, with the right backing. What followed was a crazy few weeks of working 24/7, by myself and numerous others. That work was geared at arriving to the point that my client was willing to make an offer - not just to buy the club (that's the easy part), but to buy into the concept of sustained investment over the medium-long term to make this great club a success. When I projected the sheer cost of this, a couple of the guys were a little less willing to throw cheques at me. Ultimately I have in fact now entered into this "exclusivity agreement" on behalf of ONE client only. And myself, Matt and others involved are very pleased with that. Gone are the days of petty squabbles. Our one client has SUBSTANTIAL wealth - several hundred million. Irrespective of this however, I am looking at this as a business which can stand on its two feet. But we have the comfort of knowing that if myself/Matt/colleagues make a recommendation for investment (be this for players/staff whatever), it will be catered for.

Matt will have a pivotal role at the club - and I would urge you all to never under estimate this mans ability. You all know of his amazing skills as a footballer. As a friend of his for a number of years, I also know the other side of Matt, and believe me, he has a very wise head on those shoulders.

We now have 20 days (the clock started ticking yesterday) to get down to the serious business. We'll let the legal people do what they have to for the delisting process of the PLC, transferring of assets to the new holding company, repayment of debt to creditors, and handing over of title to me (on behalf of my client). Meanwhile, Matt and myself and colleagues will be formalising football matters. I'll rely more on their knowledge of the beautiful game, and they'll rely on me to get our client to fund their plans. Its quite simple. This is now a time for unity, and I really do hope that I get all of your support, and the support of the wider community to make this club great again. I will stop at nothing to make this happen guys - but I need bums on seats AND support to achieve this. Together, we can have a club to be proud of once more (and there's me a boyhood Liverpool fan saying that!).

You will understand that I will not have the time to be a regular visitor to this forum, but I wish you all the best. Its a nice day out there, so take your kids out to play, or the missus down to the beach......... or of course make some excuse to have a pint at 3pm and enjoy the FA Cup Final. Whatever takes your fancy, have a nice weekend.

Best wishes

Tony Lynam

From reading the letter above I would assume that Matt does know the identity of the investor.

There is a rush to rubbish this on here, but take a few seconds more.

...

Forgetting the fact that it is well out of order, this is ODD and it makes me seriously wonder why?

Phil

Your posts were always some of those I would read when scanning threads, but since the Pinnacle announcement I just don't get where you are coming from.

You seem to have an axe to grind or are having too much fun before posting! No offence.

Well I had a pint with TL last night and am having dinner with him this evening. Last night he was in VERY good spirits. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that he was the most relaxed and cheerful I have seen him in months. Hardly indicative of a man who was staring down the barrel of a deal that is about to go tits up.

I've been urged to log in to this by a friend to read about our apparent collapse, which I clearly found odd since I would naturally be the first to know!

But yes everyone, sorry to disappoint you all and ruin this rumour, I am a very relaxed man. Matters of a legal nature are in the hands of legal people and everything is progressing as it should be.

Catch up with you later Neil, we're both really looking forward to tonights bash.

Cheers

Tony

This sounds like something any old photocopier salesman could have written.

I don't agree.

It is far too articulate (that's not meant to be funny) and it reflects a detailed knowledge of Administration law.

IMO this could mean that it's one (or more) of the following:

A) a fairly accurate reflection of what's going on,

B) someone with a grudge trying to screw things up with mischief

C) another bidder who'd like to see a re-set on the process

Having said that, I'm still of the view that there will be many gyrations (PR and real) before this thing wraps up, so patience is the key. Easier said than done, though.

There are some nasty evil troublemakers on here and not all Pompey boyzz.

Who cares about them. Let them talk rubbish if it makes them feel important or ITK. Knob heads springs to mind

Thanks TL - nice one. I'm now going to prepare for the game by having a pre-match pint!

Thanks for that Tony!

It is very hard to understand that some will be dissappointed that all is going to plan.

This site and others seem to be infiltrated by some with different motives, either pompey idiots trying to rock the boat or those with associations with the failed bidders. I am sure you realise that 99% of us are behind what you and your associates are doing and are praying for the day when all is completed.

Pinnacle are obviously going to try and pay as little as possible so there is going to be a certain amount of cat and mouse going on.

If there is anything in this it has probably been leaked by Fry to put the ****s up Pinnacle:

"Pinnacle are trying to force the price down to less than the club’s break-up value, which the administrator is legally bound not to allow to happen. Fry would also be financially liable himself if this were to occur. Therefore, Pinnacle’s current position is essentially an impossibility."

Personally I believe it is untrue, however as I mentioned before this rumour appears to have originated in the City, NOT locally.

I know nobody cares or believes it but this has not come from MJ. If you don't believe that then you may as well stop reading this now.

The PROBLEM is however that it has come from SOMEWHERE.

And, IF you take it that it is NOT MJ, then WHO ON EARTH would have something to gain by putting this story out there?

If (as I think is the case) everything is fine, then it will not have any effect on Tony & his team and it won't have any effect on Fry & his team.

So where is it aimed at? unsettling the fans? unsettling the money man?

Why the hell does something always seem to pop up? - "Dark Forces" again

And to what purpose?

The only options I can see to start this story would be

The Pantomime Villain which I know is not the case

Somebody with a grudge from the past (MW or RL or maybe even JP) trying to cause trouble

The other mystery foreign bidder or the deposed Irish

Salz's last minute salvation

The guys who dropped out of Pinnacle Group

Fry himself trying to put pressure onto Pinnacle to get a move on

or the guy who dropped out of the MJ group when asked to pay the deposit.

Probably could even be that White Witch we supposedly p*ssed off when she exorcised SMS

Forgetting the fact that it is well out of order, this is ODD and it makes me seriously wonder why?

the creater of the story himself states in comes from the club not the city. hth

Absolutely. That's the fourth possible explanation.

He's got a job to do and it sure as hell isn't working for us, no matter what we'd like to think.

Do you not think it is absolutely brilliant that despite all the speculation and rumours we still have no idea who the purchaser is?

Thank you MLT and everyone else involved for having such a rare quality : DISCRETION!

For whatever reason, the person behind the bid wishes to remain anonymous until the deal is signed, sealed and delivered, and I for one salute all those involved for respecting those wishes :D

Both the Admistrators and Pinnacle have been extensively quoted as saying that due diligence has been completed and that the creditors are happy with the offer, so what is going on now has nothing whatsoever to do with the finance, it is purely legal.

Anything stating otherwise is simply mischievous muckraking.

I have to say after reading the scaremongering about the pinnacle deal no one has picked up on the 1 thing the stood out a mile and thats questioning mlts involement in all this and the writer of the blog saying that there only using his name to get all us fans on board. The problem with this is that matt has publicly said on ssn that hes involved with this deal.

Now as this is the case dont you think he would have distanced himself from this and publicly too by now if what this mr annonimoushas said is true!! as we all know and say if theres 1 person out there that does have the best interests for the club its him. I dont personally know tony lynham (but that wont stop me buying him a drink if i ever met him) but i do know matt thru work and if this deal stinks he would of said something by know. so mr annonimous nice bit of fiction and could of been believeable right up to the point when you took a swipe at mlt and questioned his integrity thats when your fairy story landed on its arse.

Just got in and seen this unsubstantiated muck raking. Nothing untoward has occured and I know Tony and the team are marching forward as planned.

He's a busy man but if you want to try and get a response first hand, his contact details are on the Pinnacle website:

http://www.pinnacleproperty.net/

Farmer - I've done exactly that, and had the response within 10 minutes! I'm not going to say what the response was but suffice to say I dont give a rats arse what people say here, I know who to believe! :drinkers:
