Master Bates Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 FEARS were mounting last night over who is really putting the money into Portsmouth's proposed takeover. Premier League chiefs still do not know full details of the bid by Sulaiman Al-Fahim. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2467483/Who-is-buying-Pompey.html

Huffton Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 And our prospective new owner is British, and understands football, unlike the sheikh, who will probably get bored if they don't win everything the first year and bugger off to buy a baseball team or something. OldNick Posted 8 June, 2009 Share Posted 8 June, 2009 we have to face up to the fact that if the billionaire buys Pompey they will get their stadium that will be state of the art and the funds to make them very successful. The only thing barring the way will be the fact that top players who really want to win things will not go there.Being paid 200k instead of 150k a week wont make a difference to players who want to win things and so i doubt they will get real superstars. Good luck to them I wish we had that stroke of fortune, although i will not envy them for the price of admission. Setanda if it goes belly up there will be a much reduced tv deal in a few years time and so that will effect the PL.Although Pompey having the funds will not effect them as it will others. Scarily enough the only teams who will be safe financially in the next 10 years are Pompey Man city Villa and Chelsea. Even Man u and Liverpool look dicey with thier borrowings.
