Colinjb Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Yep, i'm on holiday for all of them (Bar Ajax) Best of luck bhoys!!!
Colinjb Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Why do we always seem to play Cheltenham in pre season games?
Andy_Porter Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 good set of fixtures, Bournemouth will be immense.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 I wish I could get a bit excited about those fixtures (except Ajax). Dunno - just seems to remind me of how far we've fallen. How long before we're playing these teams in the league? Will they actually help prepare the side for what will be a really ****ty tough season ahead? (OK its fine - I admit I'm feeling a bit low right now...leave me to wallow...)

CLOTH EARS Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Playing the mighty AFC Totton will not be easy for Saints. Its a heck of a way to travel mind
crouchi Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Looks like a set of sensible, economical fixtures - not too tough, no great travel costs. We are a div 1 club - just got to become the best one!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 We have always played these kind of teams. These early matches are fitness exercises. Yeah, I know - the list just sits there in isolation though. Its like a little sorry, solitary nugget of news amid a vast expanse of emptiness that exists in the newsfeed from the OS. Talk about chicken and egg - we're playing Eastleigh, but we don't know if a deal has been tied up yet. Or perhaps this is a sign of good news about to come? I am drained.
It's There Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Not impressed. It looks like the same in most years...and look how badly we start seasons in most years. Surely a few prem teams would come to us for a warm up, which would challenge our team technically and show them that prem teams have fit players... OK sorry to moan, but sometimes I wish we had people in change who challenged the norm for saints and raised the bar!
The9 Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Looks like a set of sensible, economical fixtures - not too tough, no great travel costs. We are a div 1 club - just got to become the best one! No, we're a League One club.
Marsdinho Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 (edited) Thats how far we have fallen, our "lets play a local team to do them a favour" game is against AFC Totton !!! Bet they cant believe it !!!! Edited 5 June, 2009 by Marsdinho
saintchris23 Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 AFC Totton? Are you fecking serious. We really have stooped Lowe now. Playing a non league outfit?!?! Thanks for ruining my weekend before it's even started Saints. ****.

NSS Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 bournemouth away.......love it! I wonder which team Marc Jackson will be supporting

A lot of good that did us.
Norm Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Wow! I'm so excited at the prospect of playing those Giants in football. Better than playing the likes of Roma/ Real Madrid/Hamburg etc. I can't wait. I may have to have a drink to get me off to sleep. (Or, am I asleep at this moment and dreaming this?)
Badger Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Why do we always seem to play Cheltenham in pre season games? So I can easily attend And lets not forget to drop in to see Rupert this season either.
Huffton Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 The Stags at Testwood Park, way hey! But who do I support? Bugger!
Iowsaintsfan Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Might go to Cheltenham Been there done that! :smt065
trousers Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Shouldn't we be getting prem and CCC clubs coming to us for pre-season friendlies now that we're a club in the lower divisions? That's the way it usually works, isn't it?
saintrich Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Will probably go to Bournemouth. Ajax if its cheap.
Um Bongo Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Shouldn't we be getting prem and CCC clubs coming to us for pre-season friendlies now that we're a club in the lower divisions? That's the way it usually works, isn't it? We'll no doubt have a CCC/Prem team in the last weekend before the season starts at home.

That's the way it usually works, isn't it? I expect we are not too keen to incur the matchday costs for a paltry attendance. I would not consider travelling and paying to see any prem team going through the motions.Ajax is a different proposition.
CLOTH EARS Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 AFC Totton? Are you fecking serious. We really have stooped Lowe now. Playing a non league outfit?!?! Thanks for ruining my weekend before it's even started Saints. ****. You miserable sod!!! Eastleigh are non league too mate, in case you havent noticed! Let me tell you now, AFC Totton are a very decent side who play some bloody good football. They have a few players who have played league football like Carl Pettifer ( Ex Southend and Bournemouth ) and Matt Robinson ( ex Saints Reading, Pompey and Oxford Utd ). You wait until you see Mark Osman in full flight he is genuine quality. He will cause the Saints defenders some problems. You need to remember Saints are now a League one side.
Micky Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 AFC Totton? Are you fecking serious. We really have stooped Lowe now. Playing a non league outfit?!?! Thanks for ruining my weekend before it's even started Saints. ****. I think that you have forgotten were we are in the Football League. This is the problem with many Saints fans in my opinion - thinking about where we used to be and not where we actually are today. All IMHO of course.
david in sweden Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Why do we always seem to play Cheltenham in pre season games? a good bet geographically I suppose, and ...as long as we are in a higher league than them..we stand a good chance of beating them ..I hope.

Papa Shango Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 I'm guessing we'll have a couple more games after Ajax, seeing as there is a bit of a gap between then and the first game of the season.
Andy_Porter Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 I'm guessing we'll have a couple more games after Ajax, seeing as there is a bit of a gap between then and the first game of the season. Hopefully we will get another home tie against a Premiership team like last year.

david in sweden Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 Hopefully we will get another home tie against a Premiership team like last year. ......you mean like .......Hull, or Burnley ? would seem a bit like playing CCC football again - wouldn't it ?

As were Totton Wanderers of yesteryear ......... great memories
Charlie Wayman Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 Is it me or are we all going to hell in a wheelbarrow? At least we got Stoke and West Ham last year, seems nobody wants to know us now. No way Jose, count me out of this load of codswallop. Hope Pinnacle have more ambition than the nerds who dreamed up these fixtures.
suewhistle Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 I suspect the bigger teams plan ahead a bit more, and didn't want to risk playing a non-existent club! Not a great deal different from previous seasons, though, and sensibly keeping travel costs down.
