bungle Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Anyone got any tips for Derby day then. I'm looking at Fame and Glory, but wondering if Age of Aquarius or Golden Sword could pull off an outside win, as they have both run over a longer distance. A number of the favourites haven't yet run a race of more than a mile.
Hatch Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 They were putting down Fame and Glorys chances on the radio this morning, McCririck saying he wont last the trip. I haven't had a proper look yet. It's my second favourite race of the year after the King George.
bungle Posted 4 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 4 June, 2009 They were discussing it on Racing UK last night, and the guy wasn't sure about Fame and Glory, I have to say. Can't see why on it's form though, and it's run over 11 furlongs. They rave about Sea the Stars, but it's not gone over a mile before, so there must surely be some doubt? chrisobee Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Fame and Glory was very good value when the market was 1st formed with 10/1 available. However, at around 4/1 which was the price when I last looked on Betfair that value has long since gone. As you would expect this is a really tough race to call and I doubt I will get involved but if I had to make a selection it would be Black Bear Island which of course won the Dante (a good Derby trial) and is bred for the derby (Sadler's Wells out of Darshaan mare). saint_stevo Posted 5 June, 2009 Share Posted 5 June, 2009 having had sea the stars @ 16's for the guineas i may well go at it again. Not had any luck in the derby since £20 on Sir Percy @ 6's a few years back, may well go with Black Bear Island also

notnowcato Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 A very worthy winner. 2 bets, both placed second in the Oaks and Derby. Been away for a bit... what happened to the Gambling Forum?
