Cheap Flights to Brisbane at Xmas

I need to be in Brisbane for Christmas Day, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that will get me a return flight to Brisbane or Sydney for less than £800 inc. taxes for 10-14 days. Willing to pursue any theories, advice or experience (legal) that may be proffered. I realise it's the expensive time to go but i'd like to surprise my godchildren.

I can't give you any advice but wish you the best of luck in persuing this. A gamble would be seeing if there are any 'last minute flights' but hopefully you'll find a more reliable way of sorting a fairly cheap flight with plenty of time.

Try Royal Brunei. Will be 2 stops but they have good deals, are decent airline but they ARE dry so you need to take your own booze which they happily serve you

Also Emirates are doing a lot of offers at the moment, Etihad will take you to Melbourne and then get a Virgin Blue or similar back up, both them are top airlines if a little squished, stay away from Gulf Air

Im looking for flights at a similar time but exactly the other way (brisbane to london and back).

In fact, my great uncle flew over yesterday, on flights for $1400 (700 quid) on Virgin Atlantic. Not sure on the details but you can find them out somewhere f'sure

I know also that Singapore, which for me is one of the better airlines, do flights for around 850 quid from brisbane return ATM for that time of year.

I can get a flight now to tomorrow with Etihad or similar for about £550 inc. taxes but anywhere near Christmas the average is about £1100-1200. If i could buy a Singapore airlines flight for £850 i may just buy it, but from this end they're charging £1300.

What happened to uor resident travel agaent on here? Can't remember her name, but a very nice helpful poster.

Thanks for the acknowledgement. It's nice to know people are grateful. I'll have a look and get back to you. But as a fellow Saints fan, I will give swannymere a piece of travel agents' insider advice: don't fly to Australia at Christmas. It is not worth paying out the extra money. Unless you can convince the parents to pay for you, after all they are the selfish idiots who gave their children a godparent thousands of miles away. Also, the kids are only godchildren and probably aren't really bothered if you go. They'd be much happier if you sent them a cheque for £800.

It's just an excuse really, they're moving from here soon and they're fellow saints fans and until they left fellow season ticket holders. I appreciate it will cost more but i still want to go. Any help would be appreciated though, do you have a travel agents secret handshake i can use?

You could do this on Etihad via Abu Dhabi. Open jaw into Brisbane out of Sydney for £841.20.
