Cancelling SKY SPORTS for the summer.

If you subscribe to Sky Sports packages now is a great time to make a 5 minute phione call which will save you lots of pound notes.

 

Pretty straightforward, just call them up, tell them that you want to cancel the sports package until the season re-starts and they WILL offer you a deal.

 

Maybe worth mentioning that as a Saints fan, you are considering knocking it on the head altogether as there's less chance of seeing your team now, and maybe get an even better deal than these people:

If you think about it, us footie fans who pay for 2 months of non football are really inflating the money that the Champiagne (League) Charlies get. Rage against the machine I say.

The point he's making is that when you ring to cancel they always offer you a 1/2 price deal. When that deal is coming to an end ring them up and they'll give you another 1/2 price deal. Keep doing this and i guarentee you'll get sky for 1/2 price forever. That is how it works.

Does that mean you're paying a negatively exponential amount? Until such time as they discover it's too costly to claim the 0.000256 pence from you and give you eternal membership?

I am surprised considering the 11th hour brinksmanship that we have all been glued to re the takeover of Saints that you lot don't get it!

 

The point is not that you will be cancelling, the point is that you tell Sky that you are cancelling. You still get to watch that cricket ****, but for less. It ain't rocket surgery.

 

1. phone Sky

2. Tell Sky that as it isn't footie season you want to cancel for a couple of months.

3. person says "Hey we still got that cricket **** coming up"

4. you say "cricket ****? I hate that cricket ****"

5. person says "how about we give you it for £2 a month for the next few months"?

6y. you say "Okay numbnuts, and when dd you say that cricket **** was starting"?

 

Loads of us do it, and you pay the difference, cheers.

I wont be cancelling my skysports either because of the cricket, which is not ****

I just say that now i own a freeview box and get skysports news for free along with all the other chanels the cost of sky just isn't worth it. This is true.

Not for me, I got 3 months Sky Sports free when I said I was planning to cut down from the whole Sky+ package to just the basic channels. In the end I got the price of the basic channels plus Ents and Docs to £7 per month and free Sports for 3 months.

 

Thats due up in a month... hopefully more free stuff or cut price Sports for me.

I think cricket would be more suited to that, imo.

 

cricket is hardly in the same league as stamp collecting.

 

The ashes is going to be huge, remember in 2005 when everyone suddenly started to watch it

I did the same a few weeks back. Said could not afford Sky anymore and got 25% discount for 6 months and told to phone back when that is over as they would be able to offer something else. Also phoned my ISP and asked for MAC code. They asked why I was thinking of leaving and I said I was just shopping around. they increased speed to about 8Mbps, gave me 3 months free and reduced price to £7.99 a month after that.

 

I also cancelled Setanta about 18 months ago and stopped DD payments. Setanta have kindly never switched off my signal or taken any money despite me having an Email from them saying it is cancelled. I don't think this is a special offer though. More their stupidity (I think I may lose it when I get the new Sky card soon though?)

I just called to cancel my entire sports package (not a fan of Golf, Cricket or Rugby) and was offered amoney saving deal whilst STILL keeping all my Sports Channels.

 

Saved £30 instead of £6.50/month (if I'd cancelled in the normal way) until August. They'd rather do that than be overwhelmed by resubscribers in August. Only thing, you can't make any further channel changes until August (fair enough) or you'll be charged full.

 

Worth a call, saved me £30!!

Just phoned them

 

The guy said no problem and cancelled our sports subscription.

 

Now i'm going to have to phone them up and ask for it to be put back on to watch the ashes.

£2 a month? I was offered it for £1 a month!

 

Have cancelled my sports, movies and HD, my bill's gone from about £55 a month to £20 a month... of course... ill take it all up again in September...
