hamster Posted 3 June, 2009 Share Posted 3 June, 2009 Not sure if ths should be main board, feel free to move if so mods. Setanta have failed to pay a £3m payment to Scotch clubs: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/8079727.stm Could have knock-on effects imo, maybe the house of cards is teetering? Highly likely that they will do a deal with Sky but people are getting a bit more savvy with them too apparently. So it may be a rocky ride for the big players who rely on their money - hopefully we have re-structured just in the nick of time, fingers crossed. swannymere Posted 3 June, 2009 Share Posted 3 June, 2009 Setanta are the biggest bunch of ******s i've ever had the misfortune to deal with, wouldn't know customer care if it smacked them in the face with a shovel. Hope all the staff catch an STD and get made redundant.
Saint in Paradise Posted 3 June, 2009 Share Posted 3 June, 2009 Hope all the staff catch an STD and get made redundant. I am sure that you don't really mean that:( Yesterday in the local Bank branch a young guy came in and asked them to stop all automatic payments due out last night as his wages hadn't been paid in like they should have been. This recession is not pleasant and I hate to see people made redundant or not get paid:(

Smirking_Saint Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Hopefully then whole channel will sod off from where it came from.... although, on the plus side. 'England are on Satanta' is a brilliant excuse for the pub (not that i ever really need one)
bungle Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 I've had nothing but excellent customer service from Setanta. I hope swannymere gets an STI and is out of work by the end of the month.

Seany S Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 I know it was supposedly a shoulder injury, but the Haye/Klitschko fight being canned is bound to have a knock on effect. Plus part of me cannot help but think that the fight being cancelled may have something to do with money - not sure how much of the fight purse would be related to Setanta - perhaps the promoters saw what was going on and decided to pull the plug lest their boxers end up not being paid. I have cancelled my direct debit to Setanta having heard that - not sure when they will cutr me off - and will be ringing them to cancel. Unfortunately this will mean I will have to go to the pub and watch the England games, on a giant screen, with my mates and several pints of premium ale. >_ I do hope that this does not have an ITV Digital style effect on the Scottish clubs - there are enough financial problems north of the border as it is. Saint Keith Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Good luck, make sure you make a record of when you canceled and with whom you spoke to. the customer service director at setanta is a good friend of mine, drop me line if you get any grief
chrisobee Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Can you cope without Racing UK? I have Setanta mainly for RUK which is actually very good I believe, at least you get a proper look at the horses in the parade ring unlike on ATR which as someone once said should be Adverts Then Racing. So for £9.99 per month it's not worth worrying about anything other than if RUK will become a stand alone sevice or if ATR will take over their meets which will = chaos!! Shame as the presenters on ATR are excellent as with pretty much all Sports covered by Sky.

swannymere Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 the customer service director at setanta is a good friend of mine, drop me line if you get any grief That's a joke title right? You would not believe the grief we have had trying to cancel my brothers subscription. It involves 4 or 5 very long phone calls and at least 2/3 letters over a 6-10 month period! OLYMPIC Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 They also have the first instalment of something like £40 million coming up for the football packages they won for next season, don't see any chance of them being able to pay for that. Also they had approached Sky for a loan if sky added Setanta as standard to their sports package,no suprise Sky told them to do one.

swannymere Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 2/3 letters over a 6-10 month period you say? Crikey! I know, but you get to the point where you can't be arsed chasing them on the phone all day and other times you lose the will to live, this is in addition to what my brother has done, it's tag-team stylee. Hopefully they've stopped it now i'll get my monthly update soon!
Andy_Porter Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 Going into Admin in the morning apparently the channel is going at midnight. They budgeted to break even at 1.9, customers and only have 1.2m. Not really suprised they're going down the ****ter.

stevegrant Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 Oh well, saves me £12.99 a month Me too, but I'll be disappointed to lose the Bundesliga coverage more than the Premier League stuff. While it was very "rough around the edges" and tended to have pundits who would actually say what they thought rather than try to kiss arse all the time, the picture quality was dreadful, solely due to their idea to skimp on the costs by broadcasting via the Eurobird satellite when every other broadcaster in the country uses Astra 2 (the end result being that you can't line your Sky dish up to both satellites perfectly, and clearly the Astra 2 one is the one you're going to use more often than not). chrisobee Posted 10 June, 2009 Share Posted 10 June, 2009 Oh well, saves me £12.99 a month Well I'm only paying £9.99 pm ! Still my only concern really is Racing UK.
chrisobee Posted 10 June, 2009 Share Posted 10 June, 2009 Good, seems RUK will survive and doubt I'll need to pay more than £9.99 pm for that alone? http://www.racingpost.co.uk/c4/show_story.sd?psection=racingpost.co.uk&page=Top%20Stories&story_id=1004759

bungle Posted 10 June, 2009 Share Posted 10 June, 2009 Think they are at the moment. The crisis board meeting continued at 8am. Even if they go into admin they are likely to stay on air for a bit I would have thought.
