Strange! I can't remember writing anything about wrecking the deal:rolleyes:. Maybe it's in your mind;-). Of course it's not going to wreck the deal. It's Nick's stupid way of trying to get his ironic point across. Move on Nick!

I suppose if you bother to read his comments on the new owners you would easily come to the conclusion this is aimed elsewhere. I have a lot of respect for Nick over the way he has commented and behaved in recent years. Always just wanting the best for Saints irrespective of personalities or red herrings. His efforts recently in trying to raise money without the need to be bitter has been exemplary. You can never please some fans what ever he says, but I can't think of anyone that comes close to him in the way he has interpreted events over the last couple of years.

 

I know his position is very similar to mine in that he is just relieved in the hope that we will be eventually saved and over the moon at even any modest investment in the playing side that comes our way. That does not mean that many others will be moaning if we start to struggle or that gates will drop even further. His message is very simple, it's our club and if we do not do bother supporting it, no one else will.

Perhaps its because the Saints Trust has found itself in its rightful position in any new order - nowhere. I bought and enjoyed his book immensely though.

Sure you might not agree with all his views, fair enough, nor do I, but when i met him and spoke with him, you would be hard pushed to find a more dedicated fan - oh and by the way, before jumping to conclusions, you may like to know his opinion on LOwe was not what you would like to believe - just because someone believes change can be brought about through CONSTRUCTIVE dialogue does not mee you support those with which you engage....

My problem with Illingsworth is primarily his continual and relentless attack on fellow fans who dont meet his "Ueber-Fan" criteria for slavishly handing their hard-earned over while being served up utter shiite and being treated by contempt by the club under the previous regime.

 

The linked item is just another dig at them..

Surprizingly i found him quit unassuming and humble - just your average slight obsessed fan who wnated the best for the club and sure maybe as a result expects a bit much from all fans at times, but once agion not sure it deserves the vitriol... Is it not teh same as your calls to cut CRouch slack... 'sure he has made a few **** ups but his heart is in teh right place - all those donations etc saving the club' smae premise as Nick, heart is in the right place, sure has over ambitious expectations of fans ?

I find it sad the way Mr Illingworth is going. I would have thought being the big Saints fan I know he is..he would be supporting anything Saints for the future. Then again a lot of the peeps I have got to know with the christian name, NICK, appear to be having an identity crisis at the mo. ie Will HE be back.....

Despite the obviously ironic intention, I think it actually gives people the opportunity to put their money where their mouth with as far as criticisms go, at least that way when something goes wrong and people start whining about it, the others can point out that they "didn't say that before things had gone wrong".

 

No, wait, that IS completely worthless.

 

It is a slightly amusing joke though.

I don't see how giving people a single place to state their prejudices is a problem? "Unity" isn't dependent on everyone having the same opinion.

My view is that he has always attempted to be some sort of fans leader/spokesperson. With his love for Saints..I would have hoped he would be at the head of the Saints fans supporting our future....His games remind me of the way he supported Rupert..Fair enough but I expected Nick to be supporting our prospective purchaser.....In my opinion YOU know well what this is all about and Nick is playing a silly game as he will lose his last few supporters...[-X

I saw Nick once at one of the Bon Jovi concerts at StMarys, didn't say hello at the time because I saw Cowen first...but...

 

my memories go back to 91...haha when the Ugly published a poem I wrote about Russell Osman and my sister's fascination with his legs...so on that note I owe Nick one...

 

We're all on the same side now guys...
