NickG Posted 1 June, 2009 Share Posted 1 June, 2009 No! I knew it already but wanted to prove it. If I didn't know I wouldn't have known what name to google, would I now could have started at Millwall and soon found her! Makes the point about boardrooms. David Strover Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 **** me! Slagging Tony Lynham and MLT and the person they represent doesn't even own the club yet! If I had anything to do with this and read some of the comments on here I'd think "What have a let myself in for" and have a very long hard think before I committed.... Some of the comments on this thread beggar belief - we were maybe days away from not even having Southampton Football Club existing any more gentlemen. I suggest you sit back and think about that for a few minutes or so before you start telling people that are potentially going to save the club what they should or shouldn't be doing. Good job they couldn't give a fiddler's elbow about what gets said on an Internet forum!

Master Bates Posted 2 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 2 June, 2009 Today's Echo - 02/06/09 Lynam & MLT to hold talks with Wotte today and tomorrow. Marc Jackson on page 52 commenting on how extremely close he was to taking control of Saints. He also congratulates Pinnacle & MLT, whilst adding: "If Pinnacle's deal doesn't complete then we might talk to Mark Fry. We will be waiting because the main thing for me is that the club survives". Also, I agree with Dave Strover.

Some of the people on here are proof positive of why the Aussies call Brits "Whingeing Poms" Let them COMPLETE the deal first, FFS they have to discover what the CLUBS' problems are and yet a few are already telling them what to do. Red and White Army Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 Let them COMPLETE the deal first, FFS they have to discover what the CLUBS' problems are and yet a few are already telling them what to do. I would be very seriously worried if they didn't have an extremely good idea of what the clubs problems are BEFORE they plonked down 500k to enter exclusivity. [-X If they didn't even consider that far ahead, it doesn't bode well for the future. They should have understood the balance sheet, last years income statement, next years project income statement, debt reduction measures, key staff appointments, players contracts and every thing else before they committed themselves to the club. If they didn't even manage this then I have to wonder who exactly we're dealing with here.

If they didn't even manage this then I have to wonder who exactly we're dealing with here. Sorry 1) Understand the club's problems It would require reading the paperwork but also meeting with the employees, understanding their opinions and inputs into what those critical areas were. An example - we lost too much money in the past 3 years. That is "bleedin obvious". Solution from DD - cut wage costs. Perhaps they MAY like to talk with the Football management side, the coaches etc before they decide the mix of players the club and their investor can afford to keep, what sort of replacements are needed. How much does the Ticket Office cost to run per year? Could it be done more efficiently? How do we handle the catering at the moment? The raw data is there but only idiots and accountants act on raw data alone, people with brains like to get ALL the facts - just because Lowe never listened to anyone doesn't mean some of the employees players and coaches don't have some ideas 2) Assess that information and then make urgent and strategic descisions They have to decide where to spend their money. Do they keep the Academy at full level of last year or do they need to invest that money now on the team. Do they gamble some of their ticket income by offering reduced prices or special deals, What is the ACTUAL elasticity of demand on ticket pricing. Where do they SPEND the investment, how much salary do they invest in the manager they want vs players 3) Create new employment contracts, make changes to the structure of the club. Hopefully they may decide that the managerial/cost centres that Lowe set up are not for them. Now ALL of this stuff has to be done in the next 18 days. Only then can they address these crucial fans issues such as the bitter arguments between the Pro's and Anti's pro London Pride & Anti Guinness groups
ART Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 I should like to express a huge thanks and appreciate to Master Bates for posting his daily "Today's Echo" thread first thing each morning. We are blessed to have this guy get up so early, read the local rag from cover to cover, post on this board and then spend the entire day, everyday scratching non stop for the very latest Saints news I have been so impressed that I am nominating Master Bates for this years "Britains Got Crabs". This year we are lucky to have Santa Claws, Amanda Rash and Itch More-Gan on the jury.
lenwilkins Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 “If I hadn’t been badly let down by another member of the consortium we would have had the deal on Thursday. We had an opportunity to sign exclusivity. The structure of our bid had been accepted by the administrator, but we did not put in the £500,000.” The Saints fan said that at the 11th hour one of his financial backers refused to pay the non-refundable deposit of half a million pounds to cover this month’s wages. “The rest of the group was made up of an equity fund so we had a situation where a number of very wealthy individuals put certain levels of money into a pot,” Mr Jackson said. “Consequently that money isn’t liquid. But one of the guys had awful lot of liquid cash, but he didn't believe Mark Fry was telling the truth when he said that he had another bid on the cusp. “Fry had been telling us that for the past four weeks and our bid had been on the table all that time. To an extent we were used as a negotiating tool.” So it looks as if Fry did use Wacko's bid to push the price up, unfortunately for Pinnacle and us supporters, as their will now be less to spend on the club itself. Wacko clearly wasn't in the know enough to see them coming with their £500K though. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4412970.Rival_consortium_was__close__to_taking_over_Saints/
SFC Forever Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 Fry had to get as much as he could/can. We knew that at the beginning as should all of the interested parties. Why should Jackson not believe Fry when told another offer was on the table? Basically he didn't have the funds to compete.
John Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 F*ck, let's hope Matt and Lynam are simply telling Wotte that he will be running the Academy next year at the very most. We need a proven English manager, please don't give this clown any more time. We are no longer in a position to have to go for the cheapest option. A decent manager is the single most important thing we need next season. Agree; but it also depends on the players available to them; I know Dyer is no loss in a football sense but the fire sale is still to come to satisfy NU before they right off what's left of the stadium debt (or mortgage the remainder to the buyers); McGoldrick, Surman and others are likely to go so we'll need an remarkable manager to turn things around; and Division 1 isn't likely to attract remarkable managers. lenwilkins Posted 2 June, 2009 Share Posted 2 June, 2009 Unless the debt is paid in full.... I got the impression that a deal was being done that Barclays and Aviva would find acceptable. 'Pinnacle' are buying the whole of SLH & the major creditors will get x pence in the £, so there should be no need for a fire sale although a number of expensive players deemed surplus to requirements will go.
