Big John Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? Whilst on the subject, when do the fixtures come out?
JustMike Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Bristol Rovers. Mainly because my mate is a Rovers fan and he hasnt stopped bragging about the cup defeat
fareham saint phil Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Carlisle away, got family up there so will kill 2 birds with one stone, and it was the scene of my first and best ever away trip 76/77 season 6 nil win
Give it to Ron Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? Whilst on the subject, when do the fixtures come out? June 17th 10am http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/KeyDates/0,,10794~1357319,00.html
Charlie2008 Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Exeter away - shortest distance to travel although I am gutted that we are not playing Argyle any more. Home Park is only 5 miles away. It's 40 odd to Exeter.
Viking Warrior Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Carlisle Awy As will most saints fans exiled in the far north of scotland
hugh Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Swindon, as it will only take me 30 minutes to get there, which is a good hour less than it takes me to get to St.Mary's. Looking forward to negotiating The Magic Roundabout again. I was one of the first to negotiate it. I had to get from Old Town to Gorse Hill at just before 8am on the first morning. God was that confusing.
Son of Bob Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Leeds at home will be nice. Also looking forward to lots of away grounds this year that I haven't been to yet. I'm hoping this season will be my only opportunity to visit them before we start our climb back to glory (you can't blame a man for dreaming!)
miserableoldgit Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Assuming that all goes well with the take-over and that MLT is Chairman (or similar) I shall be looking forward to the first home game, whoever it is against, because the atmosphere will be phenomenal!
david in sweden Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? FA Cup Final 2012 v. Man.Utd .........why do you think ?
suewhistle Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Assuming that all goes well with the take-over and that MLT is Chairman (or similar) I shall be looking forward to the first home game, whoever it is against, because the atmosphere will be phenomenal! Hope so, and should be over from Italy on my summer visit. Perhaps we can have a Saints exiles meet-up: DubaiPhil, Eric, me, etc, etc, perhaps even Alpine!
Chez Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Leeds away! do you think they will remember the taunts at SMS as we all but sent them down?
miserableoldgit Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Hope so, and should be over from Italy on my summer visit. Perhaps we can have a Saints exiles meet-up: DubaiPhil, Eric, me, etc, etc, perhaps even Alpine![/quote] Actually, where is Alpine? Haven`t heard from him for a few days. Doesn`t he like good news?
eelpie Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Not seeing Lowe's smug face at St Mary's. Notts Forest is welcome to have him. A pragmatic manager who can handle spoiled players and at the end of the coming season survival in League 1.
Wes Tender Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Assuming that all goes well with the take-over and that MLT is Chairman (or similar) I shall be looking forward to the first home game, whoever it is against, because the atmosphere will be phenomenal! Me too. I certainly hope that there will be a good turnout of people who will see the match as the first one of almost a rebirth of the club, interested to welcome the new owner/s, manager and some new players.
The9 Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? Whilst on the subject, when do the fixtures come out? The first one, cos I'll know we've still got a team.
SNSUN Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Brentford. Close to home and I've got a couple of Brentford supporting mates.
VectisSaint Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 The last home game when we make the playoffs So it won't be the last home game then I am looking forward most to the last game of the season when we are promoted as Champions. Just not sure which season that will be.
Andy_Porter Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 First away, don't care who it's against. Something to look forward to.
SO31 Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Yeovil - the away end is standing only and doesn't even have a roof. You can't get more real football then standing in the rain.
Evo Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? FA Cup Final 2012 v. Man.Utd .........why do you think ? Bah, why stop at the puny FA cup? Like many on here I reject your reality and substitute my own. Champions League final 2013 Back to reality, Yeovil away - though I'm sure it'd be more of a laugh if they still had "the slope".
Mase Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 If we get in the playoff final, it will most likely be that – as I haven’t been to the new Wembley yet. But failing that, it will be against Millwall as one of my best mates is a fan. Nothing to do with any hooligan crap…
Nineteen Canteen Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? Whilst on the subject, when do the fixtures come out? The one where we might prove we can achieve an average gate of 21k+ regardless of match (just a run of the mill mid season league game) performance or league position now the club's nemesis, for so many (at least for the 500 regular posters on this forum) has been removed.
Colinjb Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Either Carlisle away (Just so I can do it!) or Walsall away, dead local to me.
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 The one where we might prove we can achieve an average gate of 21k+ regardless of match (just a run of the mill mid season league game) performance or league position now the club's nemesis, for so many (at least for the 500 regular posters on this forum) has been removed. I'm going to stick my neck out and say that with the right manager and a couple of inspired signings I believe that the gates will be at least as big as last season. I cannot believe that anybody was attracted to St. Mary's by the big-name opposition and they certainly didn't come for the quality of the football. Depending on the dates, I'm looking forward to some of the away games. Carlisle, Yeovil, Swindon and I'd certainly like to go to Bristol Rovers again and do them over.
saint_stevo Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Swindon, Millwall, Leeds and Brighton home and away
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Real Madrid in the 2015 Champions League final. At which stadium?
beatlesaint Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Hartlepool away.........as long as Mr Stelling isnt given the chance to get his James Brown doll out !!!

Hopefully, the new owner won't read your honest assessment because that remains below the break even levels so the taps will need to be on from the start before a player is signed.
Ponty Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Hopefully, the new owner won't read your honest assessment because that remains below the break even levels so the taps will need to be on from the start before a player is signed. Break even levels won't include a mortgage though, will they?
Colinjb Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Hopefully, the new owner won't read your honest assessment because that remains below the break even levels so the taps will need to be on from the start before a player is signed. The break even levels on the old mortgage agreement. Based on comments made that indicate that the new owner could be someone who is willing to actually put some money in then I would suggest that isn't a key factor anymore, merely a secondary one. All football is based on running at a loss, we will be on a level playing field with the other clubs for a change. (I'm not saying it's the right way to operate, for it is all ultimately unsustainable.... but I don't support saints for the business side... I have my fill of that during the working day!)
Footballfan Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 the 11 away grounds I could add to my list of 54 durring the next season
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 (edited) Hopefully, the new owner won't read your honest assessment because that remains below the break even levels so the taps will need to be on from the start before a player is signed. My personal feeling is that the academy is unsustainable at this new level of football, unless Mr. Big wants to take a long-term view, that is. Players' wages will obviously have to fall correspondingly and as Ponty points out, noy making stadium repayments would be a blessed relief. I'm quite sure that any new owner will have looked at all these sums very carefully. Anything over 12,000 would be outstanding in this division. Edited 1 June, 2009 by Whitey Grandad
Colinjb Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 the 11 away grounds I could add to my list of 54 durring the next season Planning on doing the 92 at any point?
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Planning on doing the 92 at any point? I'd like to do them whilst I still can, but they keep on building new ones.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Planning on doing the 92 at any point? Not without lube
SFC Forever Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 I fancy the first friendly to take a look at the new set-up before the season begins.
Colinjb Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Not without lube Dude, Keep your personal habits to yourself! :smt117
chrisobee Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What match are you most looking forwrd to... ...and why? Whilst on the subject, when do the fixtures come out? Well the Premier League fixtures come out in a few weeks, 17th June I believe so I imagine all the other leagues will be released at the same time so not long to wait if that is the case. Always used to be but with the Premier League now a law until itself I can't be sure.
tpbury Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 On our first match (and subsequent ones) , I think we should do a "roll call" - each player who ever they are should get a roll call saying "your the best centre back in this league", or whatever their position is. Just give them some positive vibes. Like many others, I'm looking forward to the new season, not expecting a lot, but just want us to do welll. It's likely that we'll have a bigger crowd than many other teams so let's use it. I've always tended to clam up if we ever perform 'by far the greatest team' as I find it difficult to say untruths. On the other hand, I think our players will benefit from a lot of people saying they're good, even if they're not.
hamster Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Either Carlisle away (Just so I can do it!) or Walsall away, dead local to me. Poland = Europe no?
hamster Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Gillingham (Pride of Kent) Home and Away for me. Although they are also the two that I am LEAST looking forward to too.
