NickG Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 I still think some fans are getting mighty ahead of themselves. If the new owners can clear the debt and start again from ground zero then they deserve hearty congratulations from us but I think it's highly unlikey they will be throwing big money at the club. The fact that Fry said a few weeks back that Pinnacle 'failed to meet' the conditions laid down my him could have only meant that they failed to find the 500k at that time to go into exclusivity. I would imagine they have been furtively working in the background to come up with the cash to fund the deal and I would assume much of this is coming in the form of short term loans that will have to quickly be re-paid when they take control of the club. I fully expect us still to sell Lalanna, McG, Surman, Dyer and Schnierlein during the window. a lot of guessing based on what? Don't worry all those players went in the last transfer window, I read it on here!
SaintRichmond Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Maybe he will be using St Marys as his second home to claim the 24k Allowance with the future possibility of a moat and duck pond for the local wildlife. Kindly do not use the word "duck" .... brings back too many painful memories
Pancake Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Right see your point & Scudamore's which is fair enough. But any reason it cant be kept quite until the deal is complete, surely they can do the check & announce it at that time? O I C. Yes, I would have through that it would have been done that way.
NickG Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 interested but don't really care. As long as what we have heard about having support of MLT, longterm plan, willing and able to invest etc are all true -can't imagine being more or less impressed by the name
Glasgow_Saint Posted 1 June, 2009 Author Posted 1 June, 2009 Still no word from our new leader? Guided Missile where are you? speak to us about your plans.....
NSS Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Still no word from our new leader? Guided Missile where are you? speak to us about your plans..... Perhaps he's too busy drafting the grovelling apology he promised
kwsaint Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 I don't really care who the new owner is. as long as they: 1. Balance the books 2. Make sensible decisions about appointing manager and signiing players 3. Treat the players, staff and supporters with respect 4. Communicate openly and honestly 5. Aren't Rupert Lowe Not sure that is too much to ask. I can't see anyone throwing lots of money at the club, as long as we can start again with a clean slate and build from the bottom up.
Guided Missile Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Perhaps he's too busy drafting the grovelling apology he promised A busy day running my business, plus a sneaky 9 holes of golf, meant I have only just caught up with the witty rejoinders on this thread. Grovelling is not my style, Neil, as you can well imagine, but I look forward to apologising for the post that must have started this: 15-05-2009, 09:48 AM My gut feel is that Pinnacle, or anyone else, for that matter, will have to provide a deposit of, say, 5% of the offer price, for the privilege of having "preferred bid" status conferred upon them, together with proof of funds for the remainder of the bid. This deposit would only be returnable should further due diligence uncover a material change in the club's circumstances to that which have already been presented, ie there's not much chance of getting the deposit back. This would be a fair request from Fry and one which, IMHO, neither Lynam nor Jackson, would have any chance of meeting, because £500K in readies and proof of access to £10M in available funds, would be a major problem for a pair of dreamers like these. Still, we could be an hour away from the same-day transfer of the money, some eccentric millionaire has entrusted a potless Irishman from Locks Heath or a former bankrupt photocopier salesman, to spunk on his behalf... I have to admit that I am f***ing amazed and thankful that it appears that your Irish chum has rustled up a multi-millionaire that is willing, not only to buy an expensive new train set, but is also happy to let Lynam play with it. Eccentric millionaire actually doesn't come close to describing our potential new owner and I am looking forward to offering profuse apologies the day that the cheque for £15M is presented to Mark Fry.

That's a pretty good post, to be fair (ahh... football speak). "Props", as they say.
sotonjoe Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 The best bit today was seeing all our rumours reprinted in the echo. Why don't they just go the whole hog and start attributing the rumours to specific posters so we can all have our five minutes of fame?
benjii Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 The Echo did come across as something of a **** today.
Badger Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 The Echo would love to break the 'exclusive' as to identity of the investor. But we all know it is likely to be on here sooner.
kpturner Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 The Echo would love to break the 'exclusive' as to identity of the investor. But we all know it is likely to be on here sooner.Doubtful - I haven't been here long but the only things that I have seen that have turned out to be correct have been posted elsewhere first (like the BBC, Sky, OS or dare I say it, the Echo....oh - and Radio Solent).

No, I know it's not your style John, but I was in fact referring the following post from your "Don't Bother to Read the Echo Today" thread, and I quote.... No, that's right....it's probably HBOS. They were delighted to lend £1.37M to this bloke and given the success of his group of companies, can't wait to pile in for a few more quid. They are probably phoning round their mates, telling them what a financial genius he is at spotting an asset that will provide a good return. I bet none of them thought of a bankrupt Div 1 football club. This site should be renamed the Gullible Dreamers Forum, so I think I'll take a break for a few days. I'm looking forward to return when Pinnacle bring in the multimillionaire investor, to post a grovelling apology. Don't worry about the apology now though, nor indeed when the cheque is handed over. I'll settle for a pint or three sometime though. Mine's an HSB please
Carozzi Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 after reading this thread i am none the wiser as to who it is, are there people that know for sure who mr x is or is it all speculation would someone who knows for sure who the backer is be able to send me a PM with the name in it as my piecing together of all the clues has got me nowhere

Carozzi Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 If the backer wants to remain anonymous I think we should respect his / her wishes. i respect that, it was just out of curiosity, i just saw other people asking for people to PM them. ah well i guess i can wait until the deal is complete
StuRomseySaint Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 The Echo would love to break the 'exclusive' as to identity of the investor. But we all know it is likely to be on here sooner. The Echo will already know who it is, but will have agreed not to release the name. On their piece where they name-dropped a few people, they ommited Tabor from the list of names, even though he is the most 'rumoured' on here. I believe this adds weight to the argument that it could be him.

StuRomseySaint Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 My name isn't on that list either. Could it be.............. With respect gumbo, their story was obviously taken from this thread and others, they named every other person who was rumoured but failed to mention what is the strongest rumour.... now seeing as they no doubt have an agreement to the new party not to directly name-drop, is this a coincidence? I didn't see your name rumoured on here, to be fair. And you are a woman aren't you? We all know women have no place in football, so it couldn't be you. ;-)

Stu, what makes it the strongest rumour?
StuRomseySaint Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Stu, what makes it the strongest rumour? That it has been mentioned by the most people? And has alot more feasability than some of the other rumours like Rod Stewart etc!
bridge too far Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 blah blah blah..... I didn't see your name rumoured on here, to be fair. And you are a woman aren't you? We all know women have no place in football, so it couldn't be you. ;-) So true, so true...... Delia Karen Brady Heather Rabbatts to name but three. Oh and that super duper woman at Seymour Pierce whose name escapes me.
Window Cleaner Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 I don't care really who the new owner might be. As long as he puts in good people to run the club and antes up quickly so that we can get on with getting the club back on track he could be Jack the Ripper,Lord Lucan or Genghis Khan for all I care. Two things, good management and solid money, that's it in a nutshell for me. Good management meaning not paying pr@ts mega bucks to be absolutely useless.
trousers Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Michael Tabor's son Ashley heads up the Global Radio Group who have recently snaffled up several South Coast radio stations (amongst others). This is the only (very tenuous) connection I can find between the Tabors and Southampton (apart from the equally tenuous horse racing connection via the Magniers). Oh, and Ashley is good mates with Simon Cowell, who is also quite rich.
Pancake Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 That it has been mentioned by the most people? And has alot more feasability than some of the other rumours like Rod Stewart etc! So its the most popular, not the strongest then. Surely the most feasible is that is someone not mentioned on here.
Offside Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Harry Redknapp and Michal Tabor are good friends according to this link. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_20041128/ai_n12912756/ Did Harry put in a good word for us?

Doctoroncall Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 If the backer wants to remain anonymous I think we should respect his / her wishes. I think that is against FA/FL rules with regards owners of football clubs.
hugh Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Whoever the new owner is, he/she will only be news for one microsecond. After that no one will care. We are only a third division outfit after all.

Soggy Bottom Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 its not tabor Is that from fact or just a feeling
ottery st mary Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 Not up to speed but have we discounted Stefan Persson or his son Karl Johan...(Swedish family) on our wish list...Residing in Hampshire as well as London....Probably NO interest in Football whatsoever...Just pots of money from H+M clothes fashion etc....Would let MLT get on with it together with Mr Lynham.....Probably not...As I mentioned before Linkenholt village purchase in newspapers....Wishful thinking.
Mr Nice Posted 2 June, 2009 Posted 2 June, 2009 This new owner is into property and real estate supposedly.
