saintbletch Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Ratcliffe It's odd that he's not on the Times Rich List 2009 at all... yet according to Wikipedia he was 25th richest in the UK last year?? I see someone has edited his Wikipedia profile already and has also put some unfounded rumour about Tisdale on there too. My money's still on Tabor. That said, I don't care who it is as long as they have significant liquid wealth and a long term committment to Saints! He doesn't appear in the rich list because most of his wealth is tied up in Ineos and it is having problems managing the £6b it has borrowed. Because of this uncertainty The Times was not able to accurately estimate his worth. See here.
dubai_phil Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Knowing our luck, we'll probably find out that our new owners are some weird offshore company, Super Saints Cayman Islands or something, and then we'll find that the FL are happy with them being a beneficial owner and have an NDA that means we don't ever get to find out. Alternatively of course it could be Allen Stanford.... knowing our luck But in reality, fingers crossed for today, as the wage bill next week looms and Pinnacle need to be able to pay that, Fry won't have time for any more games
diggers Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Sorry to sound like a party popper, but I can't stop worrying that there actually isn't a mr big which is why no one knows for sure who he/she is. Maybe pinnicle have just about scrapped together enough to buy the club and are either banking on euphoria from the fans to rush forward with season ticket purchases or they are even now broking to sell it straight on and make a couple of mil. Don't get me wrong, I will be as made up as everyone else and will be front of the line for my ST but this is Saints don't forget.

My pure guess would be that there wasn't actually a closed down deal with a backer when they started. My guess is that their man was "sort of OK" but had not actually committed, and that the Pinnacle guys spent the first two weeks putting together all the real details of the business plan. Again. I would guess that they probably sent all that off to their man last week and the figures matched the "sales pitch" so they got the green light, so the rumours and speculation were probably technically correct - the money man wasn't nailed down, but he was "on board" With a go-ahead possibly being given only last weekend that would have left a great deal to be done in only 5 working days, hence the rush, the sudden leaks of Crouch & KK as manager, and the worries yesterday from the likes of Doggface that they may need an extension. I would expect that the discussions with Fry about getting any extension would have been a nightmare, probably because Fry would have expected them to be a bit further forwards, and he probably had a nagging fear that he could be left with the wage bill again next week. As I say, hopefully it's all sorted now and they can give us an update to get us away from the computers to at least get some lunch today! (And that is just analysis and an opinion and is as likely to be wrong as it is right)

Glasgow_Saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Author Posted 19 June, 2009 Cant believe its not been leaked yet....amazing
Burger Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Cant believe its not been leaked yet....amazing Agree can't believe there is no leaks. Probably Matt learnt a lesson when he discussed playing for England v Italy with his brother. But there must be more than just 3 (MLT, TL and the man) that know who the man is....so well done to all
Iowsaintsfan Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Cant believe its not been leaked yet....amazing Which makes me think its someone BIG that does his deals away from here, using people not from here?
Saint Richard of Woolston Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Yes, well done indeed. The professionalism with which this whole process has been conducted is very encouraging for the future. It also suggests that LC & LM are not closely involved as they both leak like sieves.
proevosaints Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 When the deal is revealed, hopefully today, then the new owner will be revealed. While im sure he'll be happy to take a fair few plaudits especially when the hoped manager is revealed. However he wont be playing the media game, or in the spotlight, hence the le tiss appointment as chairman. Looking forward to his name coming out, think it may be a small surprise for a few people

SaintRichmond Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Cant believe its not been leaked yet....amazing Yes .... the Press normally sniff out things like that, and pretty quick normally ........ via a "grass" usually .... it's almost as if there isn't a Big Wig after all:D IMHO, all MLT was asking Keegan was by how much should he raise car parking charges this coming season .... I'm still hoping the Manager is Gordon Strachan, backed by Rod Stewart ...

Agree about GS thou - be brilliant if he returned esspecially with financial backing

SaintRichmond Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 I think that it would be the other way around. Rod does not do backing vocals. He used too .... in the early days at the Cliff Hotel Woolston......
St Louis Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Not a word of a lie, but a Private Leer Jet has just landed at Southampton Airport! I obviously know it most likely has absolutely nothing to do with SFC, but you never know! My mate joked that he could see Rod Stewart waving out of the window! But that was just a joke, we could see nothing but the plane itself! I normally wouldn't make such a pointless and useless post, but im going slightly mad waiting for news! And it cant be everyday that somebody so important flies into Southampton Airport!?

saintbletch Posted 22 June, 2009 Posted 22 June, 2009 A london property tycoon worth 150 million........watch this space;) Part of me will miss this detective work when we finally (hopefully) get to know who the money man is. So given the hint above and the Times' rich list, a few names drop out. This one (I'm assuming Irvine's son James) is interesting because according to this article, they were involved in a scheme to redevelop Fratton park but it has since been put on ice. Irvine and James Sellar worth £165M?
