roger de hann....

got the money, already has links with Southampton...and a history of refurbishing dock areas..which we need...

Sounds Dutch.

A revolutionary new takeover perhaps ?

I think you may be right.

Pinnacle are registered at the same address as a petrochemical business owned by the Gibbons family(The only two companies registered at that address).

Gibbons,Strode Gibbons and MLT are all linked in business in the past.

That's interesting .... I hadn't made the petro-chemicals link tbh, I just had my own suspicions. I could make some enquiries and find out if he is our man or not but I'd rather not. It'll all come out in the wash soon!

Guy's, the guy or gal wants to remain anonymous for the moment, lets give him/her that until he/she is willing to out him or her self. They are about to save our club from ruin after all, the least they deserve is us respecting their wishes! Even if its extremely difficult for us to wait for!

Pinnacles involvement suggests to me that the man involved maybe local and possibly a complete unkown.

I'd agree with that.Unless of course Paul Allen has engaged them to throw the media - and all of us on here - off the scent.

I wasn't aware that he is on the Times Serious Wonga list to the degree we are talking of now though.

Looking at this article he is most certainly not!

Jim Ratcliffe (Ineos Chemicals) is known as “Dr No!” he’s reclusive, irritable, doesn’t compromise and couldn’t care less what you think of him.

I'd say either a very good guess or you've done some exceptional digging!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/apr/25/ratcliffe.petrochemicals?gusrc=rss&feed=politics - Claims he has a £3.3b fortune and Forbes has him down nearer the £2b mark.

Matt Le Tiss wasn't wrong when he said 'obscenely' wealthy!

Sheikh WHO?

In many ways, it’s unsurprising that Ratcliffe loves to hug the shadows, says The Independent: his one foray into the public arena was controversial, to say the least. Having acquired ICI’s Runcorn chlorine plant in 2000, “after one of the longest due diligence exercises in recent history”, Ineos decided it had been “sold a pup” and began petitioning the taxpayer to bail it out. Ratcliffe went for broke, asking the Government for £300m: the alternative, he said, was the closure of the plant with the loss of some 133,000 associated jobs.

Sounds like the guy to me!

That is an old article. Back in 2006/7 he was rated as worth in the £2-3 billion bracket, not "several hundred million" as per Lynham's letter.

Ratcliffe was 10th in the 2007 UK Rich list, slipped to 25th in 2008 and does not feature at all in 2009. Very, very strange.

Either he is so elusive that the Sunday times forgot to include him - unlikely, or his wealth has reduced massively.

If the latter is the case would he really want to throw money at a football club?

Posted

I suspect we won't have long to wait. Once a new holding company has been registered Guided Missile will be launched. Doubtless offshore trusts etc involved for someone of this level of wealth, but I have complete faith in GM.

Also the FA leaks like a sieve. Once the new owner has been advised for fit and proper stauts confirmation, we'll know very soon afterwards.

Maybe, Maybe. But what if his personal liquid assets are 'several hundred million'? He could well have slipped off the Forbes / ST Rich List due to lack of cash, but it could well be that he has become even more reclusive and taken a back seat.

I can guarantee one thing. If he doesn't want to appear on these lists, he won't be on them.

Whoever it is, I'd rather have a club than not. :)

Our one client has SUBSTANTIAL wealth - several hundred million.

Several hundred million, not several hundred billion.

Doesn't sound like Radcliff or Allen to me.

Try looking for a less wealthy personality but not neccesarily less famous.

The ex Everton chairman - wasnt he linked sometime ago?

Also what about the old Arsenal guy?

Im pretty sure Lynam said that the person behind the bid had no previous ties so that would rules these 2 out.

Gregg and Anderson is an old suggestion that was also mentioned in the recent Irish connection.... Personally I have no idea and look forward to the day it is signed sealed and delivered....I am still of the mind that NO Lowe AND NO Wotte or any of the other Mob groupies.

I will be a lot happier when the BLOOOOODY picture of Thomas the Tank is on its way to the Museum or to Doncaster.

Links and Ties are 2 completely different things IMO. Ties are previous incumbents, whereas links, well......everybody including Uncle Tom Cobbley has been linked over the past 3 years with the club.

Osama bin Laden? (Hes pretty rich apparently)

Bin Laden has ties to Arsenal - well he's a fan anyway. Was a regular at Highbury when he lived in London (strange but true!!!).

I think McManus and Magnier were in there as well, possibly the ones that walked away.... and possibly the 'Irish Consortium'

Believe the smart money is on Tabor. Would be great if it was him. Wonder if Gavyn Davies was one of the others?

Frankly, I really don't mind who it is, as long as he has the cash and a committment to Saints!

I feel there will not be a huge cash committment, it is going to be very gradual. Supporters expectations are just silly numbers

I also think that there is a Tabor / Magnier / MacManus connection.

They can spot business opportunities amongst football clubs as they made a packet when ManU were sold to the Glazers. They had built up a sizeable holding in Man U. They courted Sir Alex (a horse he "owned" won the Guineas). They looked on course to mount a takeover themselves but then had to satisfy themselves with a nice profit on their holding when the Glazers took over.

If it is them and it gets announced next week all Saints fans can "support" their horses in the Derby next week - one of them is bound to win it according to the bookies!!.

his non appearance on the rich list is due to people not being abe to estimate the value of his companies as explained on this daily echo article

And that is absolutely fine with me - in fact, by far the most sensible way to move forward. My expectations are suitably managed - in fact, I don't think you need to spend £Ms to get out of League 1, just appoint the right manager, and going about things in a sensible, organised way. We'll get there.

Absolutely right IMO.

Who exactly are you going to spend big bucks on in League One anyway?!

If the new regime is going to splash the cash it should be on recruiting the right manager and retaining those currently deemed worth keeping. This can be supplemented with some young loanees and experienced signings.

The most important thing by far next season is having a playing squad with a winner's mentality and hunger, 100% behind the manager, from the first day of the season. If we can achieve this then I'm sure the rest will take care of itself.

Who is the mystery man looking to buy us?

What do we already know?

- substantial wealth.

- has had no previous involvement with a football club.

Any ideas?

Perhaps we should remain patient. I would hate him to be exposed too early and lose heart in the media frenzy that may follow.

media frenzy? not likely. we are a div 1 side now, clubs are bought now without any media interest. perhaps the echo will want an interview, but thats about it.............unless of course the guy is a house hold name like Rod S or Branson! They should then be used to the media!
