Just been rummaging in the cupboard under the stairs where one hides all those old things that were never any good but may come in handy one day.

Had to bend down and get into a sort of stoop to get at what I wanted, hurt my darned back, but I knew it was in there somewhere, even though others were sure it had been thrown away as being a useless pile of junk a while back.

Meanwhile, the litmus test approaches, will Friday finally prove to be a real day or will it turn out to be another in the sequence of lengthy explanations of why Thursdays can be Fridays sometimes depending on the time zone.

Family off home safely back to UK this evening and a TSW VIP footballing legend lands in Dubai tomorrow, useful having lawyers in the house for 2 weeks it helps, explain so much about the way the world is, and a TSW'er in town means only one thing...

Eric! Bullfrog alert Thursday!

F*ck me sideways! Thanks for that Phil. I'll sleep sounder tonight after that.

I don't think we'll need a high I.Q. to work that out. I doubt even the contestants on Q.I. could make sense of that. Have they been selling under the counter potcheen in the Dubai markets again?!

I suspect as a lurker, and with minimal posts, I may get hounded for this, but here goes.

I am not in the know or anything like that, but this is what I DO know. The company I work for in Southampton (I'd rather we remain anoymnmous as I could get ratted if not) have a major customer, in INEOS. I asked one of our directors straight to his face (whom is very good friends with Jim) "Is Jim Radcliffe buying Southampton FC?" To which he looked at me, smiled wryly, and said "no". read into that what you want, as it got me!! useless, I know, but my tenpennyworth. Friday can't come quick enough...

Interesting. I had a completely random text from an acquintance tonight stating JR is the man and apparently this info was from an impeccable source. The rumour appears to be gathering legs it seems.

Not gathering legs, just spreading like wildfire. Doesn't mean it's anymore likely to be true because more people have been told about it.

However, when it was stated that the investor was on holiday a few weeks ago, I know Mr Ratcliffe himself was on holiday. I know because I know somebody who works for him (when I asked if he would buy us I was told he was a Man Utd fan).

I hope it's him, like many people. He's a local billionaire. But I don't think it is.

Don't worry anyone with an IQ of 190 or more could work it out.... yep just started watching downloads of Fringe - love it

As for the enigma, I'll tell you after Friday but don't waste a whole day working it out or driving to Bletchley!

As for the last bit, let's just say we have a discussion of the forum match with someone who plays for the awa side planned down here before that...

Maybe will get some real dirt on their manager's evil ways!

who's the mole in my camp then Phil??? So shallow some of my team, getting a luxury holiday in Dubai against a caravan and dogging in the Forest.

So in 17 pages and nearly 1000 posts, the forums front runners seem to be (In no order at all)

Michael Tabor

Jim Ratcliffe

Charles Dunthorne

Andrew Llyod Webber

Alistair Dial

How much is this one worth?

Oh, and you spelt Lloyd wrong.

Just shown Mervyn King visiting St.Marys today on SSN. The plot thickens?

Gordon Brown has told the BofE to find a place to stow away his expenses money until the storm blows over. Fortunately, Merv King knew of this desperate soccer club in Southampton who were in need of a few quid and, hey presto, we have our new owner, until the heat is off.

NB - this might not be true.

Could it be that they are using a made up name to cover up the real identity of the guy putting the money in.

Or could be Salz called in Mervyn King to rubbish Grant Thornton's forensic accountancy findings for the points appeal.

It's odd that he's not on the Times Rich List 2009 at all... yet according to Wikipedia he was 25th richest in the UK last year??

I see someone has edited his Wikipedia profile already and has also put some unfounded rumour about Tisdale on there too.

My money's still on Tabor. That said, I don't care who it is as long as they have significant liquid wealth and a long term committment to Saints!

I've been told that Ratcliffe is a big Man Utd fan, and he's from up north so how does this mean anything? I guess he's never going to buy MU so maybe we are the next best thing?

Source? Plumber who put heating in his garage to keep his ferraris warm!

Honestly, god knows! Just he's never told me anything about Saints before, so kinda seems strange that is was so certain. Saying that, he has just retired, so he's probably just broed as wants to wind me up! He's a ST holder though, and used to do some work for Saints, promoting them in Africa (he worked with Huw Jennings on this - organising a match between saints youth and gambia). Probably kept some links from that. Suppose I should've asked him!

A quiet, family man based in Southampton, Ratcliffe, 53, is often described as “secretive”, but within the chemical industry his deal-making prowess is legendary, says Chemical Week. He specialises in buying up assets from old giants such as ICI, BP and Degussa – often hitting when they’re most under pressure.

The deal to acquire Innovene (formally BP Chemicals) from BP was certainly striking for its panache, says The Daily Telegraph.

The deal was kept secret even from Innovene’s senior management: a week before Ratcliffe slammed £5bn in cash on the table, they were still preparing to float the company. Ratcliffe, believed to own 67% of the Ineos Group, described the acquisition as “transformational”. He has a point: it will be quadruple the size of Ineos, which now becomes the world’s fourth-largest petrochemical company.
