Master Bates Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 That's not the point MLG. The point is Master Bates chose to be sarky rather than helpful. Furthermore, no other forum I use charges for the privilege. I don't see why I should pay for this, however small the fee is. Each to their own. Back to the topic eh? I wasn't being sarcy I was joking with ya, good job I didn't write what I was originally gonna write. Thought everyone knew you had to subscribe to get more than 3 posts a day and pm priviledges. Now chin up.

trousers Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 1.4p per day is hardly going to tip you over the edge into bankruptcy is it? It's even better value on Uranus (0.016p per annum to be precise, and ever so slightly sad)
miserableoldgit Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 I don`t know if anyone else saw this on the Echo website last night, but it was posted under the same story as Ted Rogers. Make of it what you will:- CMFG Lover, Southampton says... 10:15pm Thu 4 Jun 09 Well I e-mailed Mark Fry today to find out what the Eff is going on because as a STH I think I deserve to know! I didn't expect a reply but got one from the man himself to say, and I quote, "all can say is that the deal certainly has not fallen through and we are proceeding as planned. I hope this helps. I didn't have the balls to post that name for the fear of being severley ridiculed, but seeing it in black and white makes it seem feasable.
Big John Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 (edited) Did you like that? Would you like more, YOU WANT MORE? By Jeeves, this identity guessing is a beautiful game in my opinion. Edited 5 June, 2009 by Big John

Big John Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 As it is Friday and nothing ever happems on a Friday apart from bottles of Pinot being un-corked I will say this. However someone might riddle-me-ree, they are all variations on the identity. In my opinion.

buctootim Posted 5 June, 2009 Posted 5 June, 2009 Theres an article in the Evening Standard tonight about a diamond auction. All big diamonds worth £1m plus. Of the 150 names of wealthy people listed as attending, the journalist didnt recognise one. Thats the way it will be with Saints IMO, much more likely than some household name.

I think you're right buctootim. I'm amazed how may seriously wealthy individuals are unknown to us. Given the dead sea scroll-like "clues" (or misinformation) left behind by The Farmer before he went radio silent, I personally think that the answer to the Da Vinci code lies somewhere within propertyweek.com, insolvencynews.com and Google.com. As an example how about Andy Ruhan. He has been buying up distressed Leisure companies through the administrator Grant Thornton and must be pretty wealthy but I'd never heard of him or his companies Sentrum or Bridgehouse Capital. That said it looks like something dodgy went on with his purchase of the Massive Pub group. Could he be our man? Or Richard Caring that I mentioned further down the thread? When/IF he is finally revealed I think it will be bit anticlimactic and we'll all say "Who?".
Verbal Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Would someone mind summarizing the past 600+ posts with a simple answer to the original question? Thanks awfully. And by the way, why the mystery in the first place? Seems odd to me that we know the identities of the multi-billionaires bidding for that termite heap down the road and others, and yet we're still here playing a guessing game with contracts all but signed.

trousers Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 When/IF he is finally revealed I think it will be bit anticlimactic and we'll all say "Who?". I must admit, Roger Daltry has been on my shortlist for a while now but with little or no sightings of his private yacht in the last 6 months I've been loath to go public up until now.
trousers Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Would someone mind summarizing the past 600+ posts with a simple answer to the original question? One of the original questions from the opening post was: "Any ideas?" I'm fairly satisfied the answer is: "No". HTH
NickG Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 summary? The only saintsweb poster who knows who he is - Tony L. His post said single owner worth 100's £m. Believe he has also said he is not a proprty developer. Others all random guesses.

SaintRobbie Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Who is the mystery man looking to buy us? What do we already know? - substantial wealth. - has had no previous involvement with a football club. Any ideas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW54W9y6-eU ...Henry the mild mannered janitor...?
MusicMan Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 I would just like to start by saying that I’m no way ITK, this is all IMO, but from the start I have had concerns about a few things with the Pinnacle bid. It would be interesting to know if any one else has had the same concerns or is it just me being daft. 1. Why has Mr Fry all along favoured their bid and not taken anyone else’s seriously? 2. Why is it that no one knows who is behind their bid and why do they want to keep it quite? 3. Why if their backer has the kind of money that has been talked about have they gone to a (with the greatest respect) small local broker to do the deal and not a major company from the city? 4. Why has Mr. Lynam been offered a position on the board? What will happen to his own company (Pinnacle) if he accepts? I do hope that my thoughts are unfounded and I mean no disrespect to Pinnacle, Mr Lynam or anyone.

Answers 1-4, who knows, who cares, just let Mr Megabucks ante up and let's get on with it.A wise druid once told me, "don't always try to understand everything, sometimes there's nothing worth understanding" . There were some wise dudes at the Isle of Wight festival eh !!
SFC Forever Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 My only concern is that a new owner could show us a glimmer of light and then take it away again.
MusicMan Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 I think it would help me to know that someone on here does actually know 100% who the man behind Pinnacle is. I would like to know a name but if no one is prepared to give that out then just a conformation that he exists will do I think.

Yes, I can respect their wishes. I think I would just feel happier to know that someone knows who they are (other that Mr. Lynam) even if they will not give a name. With that, it’s my 3rd post for the day. Goodnight all.

Tac-tics Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Well, I am like the rest of us, I have no idea who he is so I cant anticipate his actions, all I do know is that its been publicly stated he wishes to stay unkown. If you know he would'nt pull the plug, personally, then I offer my apologies.

You can't make this ****e up......'Yes, I can respect their wishes'..read, I respect the fact they want no-one to know who they are, but I want to know anyway!!!.. The news is, that we'd all like to know, but some of us will be patient, mainly because we have no choice.

He has invested considerable money already, in fees for pinnacle, accountants, lawyers plus £1/2m deposit - non-refundable. I have no idea who he (she?!) is but cannot see any way that their name being in here, or echo could possible make them change their mind on a multi-million pound purchase? Can you?
