Both already linked with football clubs. Where as Mark Fry said this person wasn't.

I think that it must be a celebrity (Jade?) because any decent businessperson (and if they are worth hundreds of millions they must be decent) would have day to day involvement. To sit back and let a few others run the show seems like its someone who doesn't know what to do with his/her money.

think someone who would approach MLT

Are you serious? I approached him the other night and its not me.

Is that a ITK comment, are we getting cryptic clues as D Day approaches?

If it is, then who would approach Matt? Someone from Sky? Rupert Murdoch perhaps? Waht about that bloke who used to run the cars for the stars, Dennis or something, supposed to have been a big Saints fan but was never seen again after the hype of Celebtration Plaza died a death? Is he the man?

sorry not itk or trying to be cryptic.

people were looking at who would use Pinnacle and looking at property developers.

My understanding is that is was MLT who knew Pinnacle and approached them and therefore thinking it was someone who knew MLT or at least saw him as a good conduit.

Anyone else heard it might be Richard Branson? This rumour resurfaced today from a paramedic who claims to work at St Mary's? Dont shoot the messenger.....

heard it about 6 weeks ago

good things dont happen to Saints

Pinnacle - Mick Channon - MLT

And Lynam who is brokering the deal, is a good friend of MLT.

Quite a simple link-through there I think.

Like the bits;

Still owns jumpers but treats that as "fun" and flat racing as "business"

Bought 4,000 acre Watership Down in the mid 1970s but only began its transformation into a stud in the early 90s

Guided by racing manager Simon Marsh, a lifelong friend of Madeleine

Recruited Terry Doherty as stud manager

Watership Down is on chalk soil, with a layer of greensand on top which keeps the moisture in and makes it perfect grazing land

Advised by bloodstock agent Charlie Gordon-Watson and pedigree expert Michael Youngs, Webber has slowly built up a top class band of broodmares, beginning with Silver Lane, who was bought at Keeneland in November 1993 carrying the subsequent Japanese Group 1 winner, Black Hawk

I believe that the 'four very wealthy businessmen, one of which is a household name' which was quoted by Lynam as approaching him are...

Magnier

McMannus

Tabor

Lloyd-Webber

One of them I believe stuck around, I teniously linked Magnier and McManus to the 'Irish Bid' believing they broke away and decided to go it alone...

Which leaves Tabor and Lloyd-Webber.

Hence why I dont the Pinnacle-Mick Channon-MLT link.

Lloyd-Webbers wife is a major shareholder and director of Newbury racecourse. ( Channons 'home' racecourse )

Lloyd-Webber, Tabor, McManus and Magnier have on numerous occasions been in business with each other, through horse consortiums and property, and other businesses.

I can't find anything to say they are not the original four, I ruled out Magnier and McManus, linking them to the Irish bid... which leaves either Tabor or Lloyd-Webber left at the table.

If it is Andrew Lloyd_Webber and if you're reading this Andrew then i'd like to say that Aspects of Love starring David Essex was shockingly bad. I left halfway through. Please pm me to arrange a refund for 2 tickets.

It certainly shut you up for a few days didn't it ????

Is ALW a football fan. His wife is a involved with Newbury RC as I suspect her husband owns most of the land south of it - well Sydmonton and Ecchinswell i think he owns. So a happy coincidence that its Channon's home course. Also a football club doesn't seem to sit with their investment profile and appetite for risk. Bloodstock and the Theatre are fairly risky but pale into insignificance compared with a football club.

Tabor is more typical of a potential football owner and has the betting connections and appetite for risk. However, isn't he a big West Ham fan and I assume they would have been interested in offers.

If it is ALW I am going to be very worried about the h/t entertainment - Barrowman, Norton, Brightman, Gates, Paige. We really will become a club of luvvies!

I just done a bit of digging and tried to fill in the missing jigsaw pieces. I am sure you will agree, that although they may not end up being from the correct box, they all fit.

Are you sure it wasn't a steward?

I'll grant you that a paramedic is likely to be knwoledgeable about these things but stewards are generally impeccable sources.

If you could confirm that it was a steward, or at least that the paramedic was told by a steward, I would be able to sleep easily tonight.

Thanks, Ben

Yes, he is a massive Leyton Orient fan, a team which recently had a proposed takeover back out..... then a certain chairman of Leyton Orient having a completely unprovoked attack on Southampton FC in the press very recently......

Hmmm.... the plot thickens eh?

Is Barry Hearn still the chairman at Orient? Strikes me as the sort of bloke that you have to count your fingers after shaking hands with him, very sharp - can't imagine he is ALW's ideal business associate.

I am sure they were not part of the original 4.

If the investor is one of the original 4 then it is likely you will never have heard of him.

Doggface I have been reading your posts with some interest over the past weeks as someone who seemed to have at least some kind of line into the Pinnacle bid. However, I have to say very recently your crown has started to slip and tbh I find the post above bordering on the unbelieveable.

You expect us to believe the sole investor is none of the original 4 who bought into the idea of buying a football club and presumably having all got cold feet Pinnacle were able to go out and secure a new sole investor willing to risk a substantial amount of cash on purchasing a football club all within a week or two? Very impressive.

Sorry, but i don't buy that theory and you state that you are sure they were not part of the orginal 4 but if they were then it is likely you will never have heard of him. Him presumably being this household name?

Doggface I think its time you came clean. You have as much idea about what is happening with Pinnacle as the rest of us.

Or maybe he's saying he knew the identity of the orginal four and that none were household names, ergo if the buyer is a 'name' he must have come in since Doggface got his info. Alternatively he made it all up. ;)

I can vouch for Doggface. The information he and I got from separate but impeccable sources matched 100%. However that was a few weeks ago now. I would hazard (for reasons you elaborate 19C) that at least one of the 4 are still substantially involved and if that is the case I am pretty sure not many on here would have heard of him.

That is not to say there are not others who may have joined forces. I find it interesting in this week of all weeks Tony Lynham is overseas and despite what it says today in MJ's mouthpiece (The Echo) I don't believe he is in Switzerland.

Personally I believe Doggface, and fully expect him to know the identity of the bidder/buyer. Therefore the millionaire is probably not a household name

I was under the impression that TL said he was:+

1. One of the original 4

2. A house hold name.

So therefore he could be:- Roger Daltrey, Paul McCartney, One of the Banana Bunch, etc. :-)

I appreciate the feedback FF but if the sole investor is one of the original four, you are both saying he is not someone we are likely to have heard off and yet other sources put him forward as a household name?

Sole ownership has obvious attractions and some disadvantages (see Newcastle) so do we believe that TL is out trying to strengthen the Pinnacle bid to add to the existing investor or courting a brand new investor as the previous last man standing has decided to opt out? Worrying in either event because both suggests the Pinnacle bid is not as strong as we have been led to believe. Unless of course Pinnacle have pulled a rabbit out of the hat and secured a new sole investor after the original 4 dropped out and he/she is based on overseas.

The Swiss connection is a red herring IMO unless TL is out there to link the two bids but I can't see a Swiss Company wanting to sit behind a Pinnacle Stucture but conceivable a wealthly private investor would be willing to sit behind a Swiss company structure for the club. Depends what Pinnacle want out of the deal I guess.

In any event doesn't seem straightforward as it was a week ago and probably a long way from offering individuals directorships and such like as we were led to believe by Solent earlier this week.

He didn't say anything of the sort, you annoying Troll. His post was a reply to Stu about Lloyd-Webber, Tabor etc and as a reply, clearly meant that they were not in the original 4. The one that remains was the serious moneyman and when I was told the 4 names there was no-one I had have ever heard of.

Whilst being as impatient as the next man/woman/troll for this to be concluded, I totally fail to see the point of this increasing panic to learn the man's identity, before the deal is completed. Unless you wish to spike the deal.

Sumdunce Boast, you owe Doggface an unreserved and very public apology. Make it soon and then go back to your hole and carrying on sticking pins into your effegy of Leon Crouch.

Saddo.

In that case Nick you would assume Doggface would know if one of the original 4 was the investor because his last post does suggest he is certain they are not one of the 4 but caveats that statement with ' if it is we won't have heard of them'. Personally, if all 4 dropped out I find it astounding that Pinnacle were able to recruit another investor so quickly - presumably the household name that people refer to.

I respect the fact you believe Doggface and FF can vouch for him but it seems to me that may no longer be the case and for whatever reason Doggface has had his lines cuts and is not as ITK as he once was with all due respect.

Of course I could just be reading into the semantics of his last post and hopefully he will put me right.

nineteen,

my response was made to stu regarding Lloyd-Webber, Tabor.

I believe the identity of the investor to be one in particular of the original 4, that is what I meant (I have said this before).

I don't have/think/want a crown thank you, but if I have anything of value to add to the forum I will, especially if it is positive.

My source is 1000% ITK but have not heard anything for a while, I have however had information from elsewhere which I trust.
