the scud Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 oops sorry yes you can, Y = Alaeddine Yahia link here for all of them http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Southampton_F.C._players&until=Flahavan%2C+Darryl
Kadeem Hardison Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 Zinedine Zidane played a few games on trial for Saints as a teenager.
VectisSaint Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 Zinedine Zidane played a few games on trial for Saints as a teenager. But Lowe did not like his attitude, probably because he tried to head butt him. Sadly he failed, perfected the technique later...
Toadhall Saint Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 Trying to think of A Saints Players A-Z without needing nicknames any suggestions on either missing letters or better players A Dave Armstrong B Sir Ted Bates C Micky Channon D Ron Davies E Ronnie Ekelund F CB Fry G Ivan Golac H Nick Holmes I Inigo Idiakes ? V Ulrich Van Gobble W Charlie Wyman X ? Y ? Z ? Not a bad squad IMHO!
Arizona Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 Appart from McQ and Yahia, I don't think there are any more. Redknapp tried to sign Abel Xavier at one point, probably the nearest you're going to get to X.
Mr Nice Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 I think i would have Toomy Traynor as T with 400 games plus. S would also have to be Bobby Stokes R would be Derek Reeves top league goalscorer 39 goals in 59/60 season.
SKATE_HATE Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 didn't read it properly i apologise for the above very silly
Marsdinho Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 Not that this will help fill the gaps, but here is a (nearly) complete list of saints players. http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/southampton/southampton.htm
saintj Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/uploads/documents/jun_06/sfc_1149238796_SOUTHAMPTON.doc From the OS but only goes from 1959 -2005
Ricky Redstripe Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 Y = Harry Arthur Yeomans, Goalkeeper, 1924-26,......................apparently!!!!
Atticus Finch of Maycomb Posted 30 May, 2009 Posted 30 May, 2009 i thought of one for 'b': Steve Basham.
James_O_Mac Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 Zoltan Liptak is probably closest for 'Z' - even if it is relying on first name
rpb Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 i thought of one for 'b': Steve Basham. Or even, Alan Ball...
ottery st mary Posted 1 June, 2009 Posted 1 June, 2009 What about Zebedee from the magic roundabout.....Sorry forgot his name was Fernandes.

Atticus Finch of Maycomb Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 i thought of one for 'H': David Howells
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Apart from Q the others you cant fill in Ooops yes you can! U - Ulrich Van Gobbel V - Jelle Van Dam (sp)
VectisSaint Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Apart from Q the others you cant fill in Would think Barry Venison is a better choice for V that Ulrich van Gobble, I always think using "van" or even "le" is cheating a bit. Personally I would include Le Tiss under "T" rather than "L", there are plenty of other choices for "L".

Personally I would include Le Tiss under "T" rather than "L", there are plenty of other choices for "L". Agreed, you wouldn't put Rupert The Bear under T would you. Then again you wouldn't put him under B either I suppose. I'm confused now.
eurosaint Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Agreed, you wouldn't put Rupert The Bear under T would you. Then again you wouldn't put him under B either I suppose. I'm confused now. Wash yer mouth out son !!!
VectisSaint Posted 6 June, 2009 Posted 6 June, 2009 Agreed, you wouldn't put Rupert The Bear under T would you. Then again you wouldn't put him under B either I suppose. I'm confused now. References to Rupert really are best avoided. Personally I would class Rupert as a B or even a C, possibly even an F'ing C.
Kadeem Hardison Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 I thought of another one for 'S' yesterday - Derek Statham.
Deano6 Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 I thought of one for 'W': Christer Warren. Now there's a real blast from the past for you oldies!
Atticus Finch of Maycomb Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 i thought of one for 'D': Jason Dodd.
jawillwill Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 I thought of: L for Matthew Paul Le Tissier M for Matthew Paul Le Tissier P for Matthew Paul Le Tissier T for Matthew Paul Le Tissier
Junction 9 Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 You could have one of the Wallace brothers for W. I don't mind which one.
krissyboy31 Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 Didn't we nearly sign Abel Xavier once? Did he play on trial?
krissyboy31 Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 According to the bible (ITN) Fan Zhiyl turned out for us in a trial back in 1997.
Saint Martini Posted 7 June, 2009 Posted 7 June, 2009 Would think Barry Venison is a better choice for V that Ulrich van Gobble, I always think using "van" or even "le" is cheating a bit. Personally I would include Le Tiss under "T" rather than "L", there are plenty of other choices for "L". Indeed, especially since lastnames in Holland are sorted without taking the "van" in to account. Van Gobbel would be found under the G in the phonebook.
