Saint in Paradise Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 I hope that none of you who click onto that Pomey site now end up with a nasty trojan or keylog thing.
PompeyLass Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 I hope that none of you who click onto that Pomey site now end up with a nasty trojan or keylog thing. So do I.

PES Posted 29 August, 2008 Author Posted 29 August, 2008 So do I. I accessed it on my works 'puter. I don't think there is anything to worry about. though admittedly i know FA about computers.
saint_stevo Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Lol at you all for clicking on it and downloading XP AntiVirus 2008 without knowing it. Upon restart you will see what i mean. If your at work, unplug your netwrok cable cos this is a nasty little bugger!
stevegrant Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Lol at you all for clicking on it and downloading XP AntiVirus 2008 without knowing it. Upon restart you will see what i mean. I've already restarted my PC this morning after visiting PO to see what the fuss was all about, and nothing bad happened. I am running a full system scan using McAfee Total Protection just in case though
Johnny Shearer Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Lol at you all for clicking on it and downloading XP AntiVirus 2008 without knowing it. Upon restart you will see what i mean. If your at work, unplug your netwrok cable cos this is a nasty little bugger! I seriously hope not as i have just about managed to get rid of that off my home PC. Think I managed to get rid of a few other things at the same time though. Damn PES for including the link. MODS! Can you remove the link please?!
Saintandy666 Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 (edited) Argghhhhhhh, I hope not... Even if you only clicked it just now? *now that the website is down. Edited 29 August, 2008 by Saintandy666
stevegrant Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Full system scan came back clean. Wouldn't worry too much...
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 One question no-one has answered. Why bother?
Johnny Shearer Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 One question no-one has answered. Why bother? Curiousity got the better of me.
Saintandy666 Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Curiousity got the better of me. Mmmmmmm, it is just so easy just to click something on the internet. Tis why you got to be careful.
Essruu Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Lol at you all for clicking on it and downloading XP AntiVirus 2008 without knowing it. Lol@ all you Windoze users now panicking, restarting your machines and doing full system scans. I might open up the link in 10 browser tabs and think about you waiting for the system scan result box to pop up.

OldNick Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 why would anybody wish to hack into a Pompey football forum??? Unless of course they are hoping to get names and addresses of people so thick that they can scam them.
Johnny Shearer Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 why would anybody wish to hack into a Pompey football forum??? Unless of course they are hoping to get names and addresses of people so thick that they can scam them. Nail. Coffin. Bang.
saint_stevo Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 I apologise, my earlier post was a lie, no virus really.....
Saintandy666 Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 I apologise, my earlier post was a lie, no virus really..... Aha, I have to laugh... you did have us all!
Scummer Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Aha, I have to laugh... you did have us all! Did he?
Saintandy666 Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Did he? Well, a few people. Enough to make people want to scan... although I never got round to that bit.
Johnny Shearer Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Did he? Had me, only because 've already head to deal with the virus in question.
$$$ Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Full system scan came back clean. Wouldn't worry too much...Which does not mean that much to be honest. Changing a compile flag would fool a fair few scanners. Hell, you can even buy rootkits that come with a one year non-detection warranty
$$$ Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 One question no-one has answered. Why bother?Sounds like it is an automated script that searches for websites running the software it has an exploit for. Think of it as petty vandalism. Rather funny it has hit POL but then SF did get hit with a sinister embedded link on the main page once...

I might open up the link in 10 browser tabs and think about you waiting for the system scan result box to pop up.LOL @ mac users who appear unaware that their system of choice has plenty of exploits of its own or anyone that would ask a taxi driver for IT security advice. Last post of the day for me but feel free to spout off your normal fanboy guff in reply.
Weston Super Saint Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 Was it Westwood's revenge??? http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/people/It39s-Westwood-heaveho-for-famous.4428442.jp
AwaySaint1 Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 *frantically checks server security and makes a backup* There is an exploit in Version 3.7.2 of VB. Its been patched in Version 3.7.3 COUGH COUGH!!!
Michelle Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 C'mon then, what actually happened? Can't be arsed to click the link, whether it's safe or not!
Eyes k8 Posted 29 August, 2008 Posted 29 August, 2008 He was Gambian. HTH NIDH. That was OJ who was excellent and we signed him after Harry found him a wife from the EEC. There were other treialists that night one of whom was morrocan and looked rubbish.
