Pinnacle clinch it.

Okay, not a done deal just yet, but I hope now that some of you who've been doubting Tony Lynam's ability to pull a deal together will give him due credit for the incredible efforts he's been exerting in order to rescue your club.

Frankly, I think some of you owe him and his team an apology for some of the less than savoury comments that have been made on this forum.

Indeed, GM has been pretty quiet today.

So potentially there are at least another 21 days of hitting F5 all fugging day?

So annoyingly true...

But hey, at this stage, promising news is way better than no news. So fair play to all those planning to celebrate this tonight! ;-)

Good news. I really don't give a flying **** if they haven't got mega millions to throw at it. Would much rather we build it up the traditional way and attempt to get stronger gradually. We've had, 5 years of complete sh!t so I'll be patient...

A lot of truth in that statement, however, did I read on here that MLT told someone that whoever is behind Pinnacle is "Obsenely rich", may be it was just B.S. who knows, but I would laugh if it was a comparable to the new Skate owner.

Fantastic news - in fact, better than fantastic news!!

All going well (in next 21 days) we still have a club, and we have new leadership that can really carry the club forward.

Onwards and upwards!!!

PS I am now deleting my (anti) Lowe avatar - time to remove his spectre from the club for once and all!

When it's all sorted the only figures I want to see are a very wide 4-4-2. If Portvliet and Wotte had used those numbers we would most likely have stayed up despite administration.

Get a decent British manager in that isn't too much of a coach but a proper manager.

I have no idea why this guy has been mentioned by DD, and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could flick him.

If it is some attempt to upset the apple cart which appears to be moving along nicely I don't believe it is possible with the period of exclusivity IMO

I would ignore DD, it wouldnt surprise me if we dont hear from him again.

Told Mark Dennis, he quoted it on the brothers/radio hampshire.

Firstly whatever else happens we need to be thankful to the Pinnacle bidders for securing the deposit and allowing the valuable staff to be paid - it will have been a tough time for them especially in this climate so well done to Lyman + co for bringing this deal to this stage.

Its obviously good news, but remember there will be a raeson why they ahve 21 days and not 7 or 14 because they WILL look in deatail at the books and teh contractual obligations. These will determine what sort of opertaing budget is needed per annum and what if any shortfall will need to be covered to meet the contracts etc - and if its not poosible to ship out the overpaid, there is still a risk taht teh investor may not feel its possinble for him/them to cover that so they coudl still pull out - Thats also why they will wish to remain anonymous considering the likely vitriol that would come their way, yet they are fully within their rights to do so.

I think if that wer to happen, alot will depend on whetehr those other interested parties want another go... but hopefully it wont come to that.

As for pinnacle? who they representa nd what startegy will surly eventually come out - I sont expect millions but would be really ahppy that a) we have survived and b) someone with enough common sense to build the club back up within a sustainable and structure growth... we should all maybe adjust our expectations to match so that we dont get dissapointed every five minutes if not promoted or suddenly winning every game... we have hit rock bottom and need time to rebuild strong foundations, not fly-by-night success that is unsustainable.

I hope the backer to pinnacle and the board they put in place IS going to be one we unite behind - I think whoever it is and whatever our preconceptions that might exist and whatever they do whether its a new man or keeping Wotte, we support them and give them a fair go. Matty involved in the boardroom will be interesting and welcome (as long as we dont get his mate back at half time - sorry nothing against him just not that funny IMHO ;-)) (although if thats the price we have to pay...;-))

There will be alot of unanswered questions, will we see LM back in the fold and what will that mean? Or will the backer be looking for a NEW look board with no baggage as it were which would be my preference... interseting and for once exciting times ahead, but lets take it as it comes and see what pans out - afterall we have had disspointmnet before, and if our new backer is not that wealthy, so what, lets give them time (I think its a very positive thing that we have NOT had public proclamations of massive investment...this time, but confidential and business like negotiations... and thank feck no 'Lets go pinnacle' Tshirts ;-))

Mr Lyman, Sir MLT, and the new mystery man - we salute you! Welcome back Matty, and welcome to Mr? whoever you maybe.

Taken teh ova! taken teh ova! taken teh over! Well nearly...

...Very much looking forward to Matty doing absolutely sod all ALL season; save for the odd masterful decision out-of-nothing, a couple of audacious signings that no-one else would even have attempted let alone pulled-off, and no-doubt the occasional bit of genius just for show in the boardroom.

very happy polaroid boy me, oh yes... ...taken teh ova!

Been out for tea at the club just got in heard it on sky sports news seems really positive, will just be glad to have a team to support next year, anything else will be icing on the cake. Would be nice if we had some real money behind us but I am happy to be still alive & prepared for us to have to build for a brighter future. COYR

LOL Derry, I love the width posts - you are right of couse, if we think back our deline really began when we lost the width we had with Bridgey and Mazzadiniho on the left and to some extent Dodds/Telfer on the right - since then we never really had any any and unfortuantely no Xavi or Iniesta style central creative players to compensate - but i dont really care what nationality a manager is is if get in good coacing staff, can motivate, can understand that the firststep is simply getting out of L1 ugly or not, and at the same time continue to build a youth set up that has more flair about it as we will need them comming through later.

Phew, was away for the weekend and had to beg and fight to borrow a laptop earlier today to congratulate Tony Lynam and his team.

I once again want to point out to EVERYBODY on this forum that those people at Pinnacle will have been through hell in the past weeks. While some make jokes and try and hurt them by leaking imaginary names, there is still a lot of work and planning for them to do.

One day, WHEN the club is safe, when everything is up and running and the transition team have learnt their tasks and start moving us forward, then I am sure that many positive tales and stories can emerge of the efforts by many people around the world to save our great club.

This evening I put the Champagne on ice, and it will stay there for the next 3 weeks. But in it's absence, this evening I raise my glass to Tony Lynam, his unsung heroes, to his backer for coping with everything that was thrown at him in the past weeks, including T's & C's that weren't "quite" within the law.

Ladies and Gentlemen, you are heroes, I for one raise my glass and salute you. You don't have time to do this yet, but in a few weeks, take 10 minutes and reflect on what you have achieved for so many people.

Bl**dy well done

And thank God I can get back to a real life again

Just got in from work & it's great to see some positive news for a change.

Question though, if Pinnacle have paid the up front fee to allow us to pay wages, does that mean Dyer won't be going to Swansea for a paltry £400k?

I hear Martinez is being lined up to replace Bruce at Wigan so the Dyer deal may yet collapse.

Like some of us said... serious players such as Pinnacle have proved to be are not really worried about a few scroats on here iving them a bit of stick - they know its aminly born out of frustration and teh misery we have been in for a long time, the desperation etc... too many false dawns etc. Hopefully, when revealed we will now be as one?

Officially??? Nowhere ;)

UP as an ITKer? surely not ;-) It would make sense to stagger any deal that way, given That morally giving more back when we can afford to with success rather than bleeding all available investment dry before we even start the rebuild is also best for creditors and will hopefully placate teh FL and we wont see further points reductions.

I am hoping for a clean sweep board though Matty is naturally welcome, but are we going to see some names with baggage?

Great news and lets hope for better in 21 days.

Can it be done in less than 21 days?

I hope the Transition team has some great football brains, some great business skills, some great marketing skills to wake up sleepy Southampton and respect for the fans who have given a lot and suffered more.

Out of interest do they read this site?

Second that Derry. Here's to a brighter future.

Sure this will be discussed on many an upcoming thread, but I'd still go for Ince as our new Manager.

Happy days!

On the face of it and without knowing the facts it seems great news for SFC. Hopefully Fry thinks this is the right partner with the right backing and finances so fingers crossed it works out that way. Let's hope the self-appointed ITKers who have got so much wrong in recent weeks keep a low profile. Onwards and upwards. COYR.

Fry as has been pointed out many times will not at any time have given any thought to what is best for our future.

He has only ever been concerned with the Creditors and his own career profile.

IF he had been concerned about the club then he would have made it far easier for Pinnacle (with a plan for our future) to have bought the club 3 weeks ago and to have already been in position to start building for next season.

Fry is not a hero, he very nearly killed this football club

Oh yes, but never if it would hurt the club or the new team in charge.

Maybe a good reason to have another Forum match at SMS as telling the story over beers is different to telling it in the Echo

MATT - You know it makes sense - we NEED that rematch!

I'm not suggesting he is Phil but with all de respect how can you make such a comment. Do you have all the facts? He clearly has one objective and that is to strike the best deal for the creditors, nothing more nothing less.
