SaintDonkey Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 Bloody hell, I'm off the site for 5 hours and miss out entirely on a 6 page thread about the fact we're about to all become Swiss, and then instead it's MLT and actual real news! Of course Matt's backer could be Swiss which would make both stories true. From the number of ITKs on here dropping hints that practically everyone besides the echo (and me) know who's behind Pinnacle I guess it won't be long. Will it? SuperSAINT Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 An earlier Echo report had the Pinnacle investors being 'local property developers'. But we know that a couple of the original members of the consortium dropped out... So not sure how many are left within the consortium now. Fitzhugh Fella Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 Don't think so. Great news nontheless. I'm hoping Pinnacle will be good for us. Anyone know (Farmer, Doggface ??) is it safe to release the identities of the Pinnacle team yet ? Regards Morph I wouldn't just yet, Morph - some might have changed and some might yet want anonymity - would hate to hack them off and blow things. SaintRichmond Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 The Pinnacle consortium, which includes Matthew Le Tissier, have entered an exclusivity period with the aim of completing the purchase of Southampton Football Club within three weeks http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4406782.Saints_enter_exclusivity_with_bidder/ Well done Pinnacle !!!!!!!!!!!! .... let's hope Summit happens soon .......... Fitzhugh Fella Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 (edited) on basis that they have been negotiating for weeks, and now have paid £500,000 for the pleasure of trying to finalise it - they must be confident that they can make an acceptable offer to Fry. In the Echo it says "the proposed offer has been given the seal of approval by the creditors" so it looks like the price has already been agreed in principle. Saint Lindford Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 Wow, go out in the garden for a few hours and come back to this great news. Long way to go but it is looking good. What a coaster ride so far. Let's hope for calmer times. Do not know the details but good friends say this will secure a long term future if it completes. Come on you Red & Whites. Well done Tony Lynam. Hard luck Green & Jackson but I know your main aim was to secure a future for our club so I know you will be relieved and supportive. Just hope it has not cost you too much financially to get to this stage. From what I have been told the short and long term future is bright and hopefully exciting if this goes its full course to ownership. Now have a very big smile on my face and looking forward to a few glasses of wine tonight and then several beers at the rugby tomorrow. yorkie Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 Anyone tried buying a season ticket yet? If the football club isn't in administration - and trading why can't season tickets be sold? Some good news for the staff at SMS at last - the players can wait - but to staff this could be the difference between still having a home or being kicked out! Blandford saint Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 I'm sure that an offer price will already have been agreed. When they start to look at every nuance of the books, they will then try and find good reasons why they shouldn't have to pay quite as much as they initially offered. If they are really serious, though, and they've got this far, it would have to be something pretty major to put them off. Hopefully, one of the advantages of being a PLC is that the finances will have been well documented, so they will not have too many nasty suprises that haven't already emerged - fingers crossed. VectisSaint Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 I feel some peops are getting ahead of themselves. I'm very happy that entering a period of exclusivity and the non-refundable deposit means that the staff, and to a lesser extent the players will get paid, but this does not mean a deal is complete. It could still all fall apart. Thats what 43 years of supporting Saints has done for me, cynic.
um pahars Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 I hope they have got some flippin money ! Remember all the excitement when Wilde & co took over ? Needs to put in perspective, because after Lowe's second stint of carnage we had absolutely no money and were out on our feet. The alternative to Pinnacle's "little" money would appear to be no Club. bridge too far Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 I would suspect that the Administrators would only agree to a bid that they felt would at a minimum ensure some years of survival? Why? Gingeletiss Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 I would suspect that the Administrators would only agree to a bid that they felt would at a minimum ensure some years of survival? No.........all Fry should of been interested in, was how much he could get for the creditors. He wouldn't/shouldn't/isn't interested in how long Saints will survive. If however, he has achieved both things, then all credit to him. IMHO of course.
derry Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 This has bought us time to get things sorted. The non refundable deposit of £500k makes this a serious bid. I was surprised that something didn't happen yesterday with the wages not being paid. It may well be that together with that and the Irish connection coming in looking serious it brought things to a head and ended the brinkmanship. It would be no skin off his nose if the new lot took over and then went bust in a fortnight. But with some of the deal relying on contingent payments (some just staged, some dependent on promotion & other milestones), then the creditors and the Administrator need to be looking further than just cash in hand as we stand here today. I understand what you're saying in that the administrator's priority is to the creditors, but as this deal hass an element of contingent payments to it, then it is everyone's interest for it have some legs. VectisSaint Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 or fall apart after it is signed - enjoy it while it lasts! But enjoy what? 3 weeks wasting the close season waiting for a deal to possibly go through, while our rivals appoint new managers, get deals in place for new players and so on. 3 weeks time, new owners hopefully start to put plans in place, so once again for the umpteenth season in a row we start behind the pack (not forgetting the 10 points deduction) and our pre-season is ****ed up again. Still cannot be argued that this is better than the alternative, no club, but afraid I cannot get excited, at least not yet
doggface Posted 29 May, 2009 Share Posted 29 May, 2009 Great Great news, although obviously I said a period of exclusivity was due to be announced 2 weeks on thursday....they got there in the end! Well done Tony Lynam & team I believe they always felt they were in the driving seat however the deal has taken much longer than expected. I do not know this for sure but a few people have advised 2 of the 3 original backers had pulled out. A few are aware of their names but they may wish to stay anonimous short or long term so best keep it quiet. Whether they got back round the table in the end we will find out perhaps in due course. As long as the deal is completed this should see us debt free & I can say that if their original plans are still in place we have a lot to look forward to short medium & long term. I think it unwise to spill too much more until the deal is complete but I am very excited to have back possibly the only man that can really unite this club back, soon to be Club Chairman!!!!!!!!!!
