I've just spoken to Tony. He is in Guernsey at the Smile4Rich Charity Golf event at Le Grande Mare. He said this is a charity close to his heart and he hopes in future SFC can be involved in similar fund raising events to build a better spirit around the club once again and give something back to the community.

He said his weekend will be dedicated to going through the remaining legal issues and he is confident of getting everything in place in time for deadline day. Tony and co are champing at the bit to get on with football matters, which in Tony's words were 'what it's really all about'.

Does a lot of work for charity but doesn't like to talk about it.....

Having read his comments about MLT, i am not surprised. We are very lucky to have MLT encouraging our new backers. Bloke's more than a legend - he's fast moving on to become 'Mr Southampton 2'!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, particularly after all the positive vibes that have been circulating, but I feel it is only fair that you guys and girls should be among the first to hear that Tony Lynam and his team have failed in their attempt

Sorry, couldn't resist it ;)

Sorry to be pedant but dedicating his weekend to sorting out the football club and also playing in a charity event does not seem to be the same thing in my book.

Oh Nick - you old sourpuss :)

The man's been working all hours the good lord made. Surely he's entitled to a little time out?

Golf event on Friday (as per the email from Farmer) and then working with lawyers etc on Sat/Sun?

I was supportive yes. If by saying you were devoting your weekend (the MOST important time at present) to sorting the club out but then saying you were playing golf is not concentrating on the matter. All IMHO, he is more than welcome to play golf and it is probably a fantastic cause but the two statements dont go hand in hand do they?

Oh that is different then. NSS post was this morning and so thought they had just got back today.

Maybe Sherl had other things to do this weekend (like sort out the aftermath of the Charity Golf Day) rather than update a rivals message board on news of the takeover?

Sorry, having one of my 'coat for Trousers' poor attempt at humour days...."Too tense" (two tents)....a reel of cotton and a needle in the post to stitch up your sides. :)

And, why the change of avatar trousers?

In homage to the "Kevin Keegan reported meeting up with new owners" rumour that (re)surfaced on here at the weekend....

I don't think he will have the finances he wants here...perhaps once the Arab buys Portsmouth that will suit him more?

IF Pinnacle take over it has been made clear we will have to be pretty much self sufficient but have a few quid to spend....Blackburn are far richer than us and he thought that wasn't enough.

We will not appoint Ince IMO.

To all intents and purposes, this is simply a case of malcontents crying for attention. Poor retention is the likely result. I blame the failure of Setenta Sports and/or after school detention.

Let's hope Trousers is not "pictching a Tent". That could get messy.
