For the fear of being shouted down, why on earth would a bunch of reporters be sitting outside SMS on a Sunday night when its closed! Me thinks this is yet another load of bull***t. I think I'm going to have to stop contributing to this forum, some of the comments are just a joke

A good friend of mine who doesn't subscribe to this site and doesn't talk BS told me at about 7.45pm that there were lots of media types outside the ground; he texted me to ask if I knew why, hence why I came on here but it seems no-one knows.

Would it not be easier for him to ask THEM?

After all, if he could see them, surely it wouldn't be so outrageous to suggest he was pretty close to them....

He's got 3 girls under the age of 6 so I assume he was driving past with them in the back and wasn't in a position to stop and ask!

"There is no television at the South East regional count at St Mary's stadium in Southampton, and Conservative David Willetts has "gone mad" at organisers, the BBC's Mandy Baker says. Our correspondent says there was one TV in reception, but the security guard had to switch it off because there were too many people crowded round it and it was causing a blockage in the reception area. Mr Willetts was heard to say: "My party will never use this venue again" - yet another blow for Southampton Football Club, the owner of St Mary's, which has faced financial difficulties."

oops.

Didn`t Rupes once stand as a candidate for UKIP?

No I think it was Referendum Party.I'm sure I've read it was in 'The Cotswolds' constituency, which if true indicates it was a general election rather than European. It predates his time with us so the episode and his involvement passed me by at the time.

I think that you may be right. I believe that The Referendum Party became UKIP after Sir James Goldsmith died.

The BBC artical about Surman has made me worry a little about the bid..

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8089055.stm

Until the takeover at Saints goes through, then we're in a bit of limbo."

Pinnacle Group are currently undertaking due diligence at the St Mary's Stadium, having been granted a 21-day period as exclusive bidders.

Andrew Surman

"At this stage I haven't thought any further than going back to Southampton for pre-season on 22 June," Surnam added.

"When a serious bid comes in then that's when you have to review your situation, but we're not at that stage yet."

I could have sworn all the due diligence was completed?

The way I understand it is that the financial due diligence has been done - looked at the books etc and they match what MF said.

They are now undertaking the legal due diligence which is checking that we legally own what we said we owned - players, stadium, Staplewood etc.

I expect when/if our takeover is done and dusted and announced in the media the West Ham fans will be saying the same about the Saints takeover. Fact is, if you are not watching the media every day waiting for news (because it is of no interest to you) then when it gets announced it seems like it was all done in 5 minutes flat.

If Aviva did decide that they were going to keep the stadium how much could they get to allow the team full access? Would it be in their interest to up the ante? Pinnacle fail will we be able to continue for much longer?

Our super rich new owner would just build a new one, so what would be the point?

I saw Rupert in The Don restaurant in London today. I managed to refrain from shouting abuse at him although I did utter a fair few expletives about him to my guests. I didn't recognise any of the gimps he was quaffing champagne with.

True story.
