Is there anyone else on here that thinks Tisdale would be the wrong choice?

 

He would be a gamble as he's only managed at Conf and L2, and i think if he wasn't an ex saint people wouldn't even be talking about him. In my opinion he would be a gamble along the lines of Sturrock.

We got decent results with an injury hit squad under Sturrock. He got sacked for eating a fried egg sandwich at training. The treacherous Wigley grassed him up.

plymouth fans are not happy with him what so ever...and he is their most successful manager ever...

 

a bit like us turning on lawrie mac 5 years after he won us the cup...not going to happen

My thoughts exactly.

 

I believe the appointment would be greated with "ok it's Tisdale,not bad"

With the possible new era on the horizon,and if we have the funds,we really should go for someone who will really create a buzz and get backsides on seats.

 

I would be surprised if Keegan is in the frame,i'd settle for Ince however.

Dowie really dosen't inspire me at all.

Calderwood did well at Aberdeen.

I heard today from my source that all will be revealed on thursday. no details about who had been chosen for manager would be revealed. i do know dowie, tisdale, cotteril and ince have been spoken too but dont know which it will be.

 

we are getting carried away and could be building up for disappointment!

 

any of those would be interesting, for differing reasons, -apart from Cotterill,does excite me at all

I think Ince would be a good choice, definitely. For one with his determination to be ousted in the way he was at Blackburn, he must be champing at the bit for a new opportunity. It's interesting the comments he recently made too; hopefully, if it is him, he will be given a bit to spend and I imagine he must know Matt from Matt's all too short spell with England, so you never know!

 

That said, I expect to see Dowie crowned as our new boss, if the Pinnacle thing goes through.

Not that I'm suggesting there's anything in the Ince rumours, but the finances required to build in League 1 are not the same as the finances needed to build in the Premier League.

 

If £10M were spent assembling a side next season then my guess is that it would be possible to build a team capable of pushing for at least a play-off place. Outside of Leeds, Norwich and Charlton, which other teams are likely to have those sorts of funds at their disposal?

 

You need to stop thinking Prem/CCC budgets.

Tisdale - In high demand & has done a decent job at Exeter as well as having Saints links, will either be a major succes or floor.

Dowie - Uninspiring.

Calderwood - ", did'nt do well enough at Forrest.

Cotterill - out of the game to long, not exciting enough.

Shearer - Similar to Ince but would bring the major optimisim back. Would need to learn to focus on defending too though.

 

So in all its a bit off a bugger, we need a "name" such as Shearer to re ignite the stay aways. Yet we need the experiance, someone who knows how to handle this league as well as have the odd contact, inspiring signing like when Poopey brought in Merson in League 1 (The Championship).

 

Will we deffinately hear something by Friday?

Can someone clear it up...

 

We keep getting told we are not in admin etc but do we need a CVA?

 

If we do, we better start getting used to another relegation.

 

It has gone eerily quiet on that side of things....it doesn't help that no-one from the Football Club board has uttered a SINGLE word to us (the fans) or indeed the media since the beginning of April.

 

Which is all very odd for a subsidiary company that is running on a 'business as usual' non-Admin basis....

 

(not sure if I've mentioned this before....) :rolleyes:

No disrespect to PT but I would hope for someone a little more well known to the average fan? However, I'm sure that whoever is tasked with appointing a manager will have Saints best interests at heart. We need to place our trust and support firmly behind that decision.

Steve Cotterill lives in Bournemouth and he is said to have thought he was getting the job a few weeks back. Of course he may have been involved with another bidder, not MJ

No he is not, quite the opposite if you read between the lines. He found Rupert an 'interesting challenge' and his ideas somewhat 'out there' compared to the footballing knowledge and experience possessed by Strachan. In a sort of twisted manner, WGS enjoyed the banter between them, the ex pro and the football novice if you like.

 

He credits Lowe with persisting to try and impose ideas (some Hockey based!!!) against stiff oppostion from all quarters. I think he admired Lowe's spirit and single mindedness, but also hinted that this would be his downfall in the football arena.

 

WGS is an interesting and unique charachter himself and I think he found Rupert equally unique and in that respect found him 'amusing'. He may of complimented Lowe on his supposed business acumen but he is anything but complimentary to him on football issues, more patronising & belittling TBF.

Now you've pointed that out, I can see what SL maybe did there. There's me thinking I can read between the lines of a piece of printed matter and then that off the cuff remark went straight over my head!!

 

But then again its a well known given that just the mention of Lowe makes me act irrationally tbf tbh :(

Matt Le Tissier's consortium will lose their deposit of £500,000 if they do not agree a takeover by Friday.

 

If League One Saints then go bust the best they can hope for is a place in the Blue Square Premier.

 

A Blue Square spokesman said: "In principle we have no objection to Southampton joining the Premier."

Has anyone seen the snippet in the Sun today? Won't post it, or a link, but in summary it says, Southampton will be hot favourites for the Bluesquare Premier League if this that and the other.

 

The Peak moment will be Friday, when the deal is Crowned following last minute Summit talks with the Top Brass.

Why? He had actually achieved no more success that Tisdale when Blackburn came in for him and when confronted with a serious job to do he could not do it. He would be off the bottom of my list - I would prefer almost any of the others mentioned.

Would we be in todays published fixture list, not to mention the League Cup draw, if this was a genuine concern?
