ladysaint Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 "Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." Harry Lime. kpturner Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Why?Because it is the Irish thread revisited with nothing more to contribute. Now if they had said "A deal has been done...." then bring it on.
saintbletch Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 what was said? Nothing of any substance in the interview with Richard Chorley. Thanked Leon for keeping the club afloat with money he'll never get back. Had a go at Lowe for buying the radio station for £1M, selling it for £100K ergo he has no business acumen ergo he was to blame. Nothing mentioned about the identity of the bidders. Nothing mentioned about Swiss interest. Can someone say what was originally said about Swiss interest?

Gave a good account of himself, as he was winging it.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Ive got a mate who is a soldier in Switzerland, after his wedding he told us all that she could do, apparently she can perform oral sex whilst opening a bottle of beer, a bottle of wine and cutting his toe nails....she's a Swiss Army Wife
The9 Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 It doesn't take much to upset them,I know a guy who has a restaurant, put down "gruyere" as an ingredient of something or other on the menu and as always used plain old common or garden emmenthal, same as everyone else. The swiss cheese police came round and whacked a lawsuit on him for taking the name of their AOC national product in vain. Cost him 900 euros in the end. Lucky he didn't try and use their flag...
bridge too far Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Anyone else making awful Swiss puns will have to SKIdaddle off. Geddit?

When the radio station was purchased we were not expecting to be relegated.£1m is nothing when you are in that league. It had earnings that you cant quantify. What is 24 hour advertising worth a year? Especially as the people listening are in the main pro Saints and so likely to buy from the advertising. To me it was a good investment if we had stayed up. When Pompey radio is being broadcast and is pushing their club i expect fans will moan why couldnt we do the same.
bjk Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Yeah i heard we're being renamed Grasshoppers Southampton.
slickmick Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 If there was anything to announce I would have thought Solent might have said something first as they seem to be Mark Frys first call. Not sure theres anything in this.

J Bizzle Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 I see Chorely is still and **** of the highest order, along with illingsworth.

When Pompey radio is being broadcast and is pushing their club i expect fans will moan why couldnt we do the same. Its interesting that some fans dont worry about spending money on expensive signings or high wages, yet seem to have a problem with teh club investing in a service aimed at and for FANS - teh radio staion was in effect subsidised yes but it did provide alot of Saints content on a daily basis and where else can you get that? Was there not some value in subbing it to about 200k a year in the prem - Had the club paid commercial rates for marketing and advertising to a seperate radio station for the same air time it would have run into 7 figures a year... It was sold because when in the CCC there were other priorities - but thats the sort of thing that Chorley seems ignorant about....and why many dont ahve much time for him as 'spokesperson'...
Nexstar Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 SSN just saying that negtiations are at a late stage with due dilligence close, they also believe one of the parties is based in Switzerland. Bout it.
bridge too far Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 I see Chorely is still and **** of the highest order, along with illingsworth. I've just listened to him on SSN and I can't see that he's said anything wrong. He's simply said it as it is IMO.

Bout it.Negotiations are at a late stage. If there are 4 parties still in I cant see how it is at a late stage.
Master Bates Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Negotiations are at a late stage. If there are 4 parties still in I cant see how it is at a late stage. They mean it is at a late stage in the morning.
Chorlton Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 I've just listened to him on SSN and I can't see that he's said anything wrong. He's simply said it as it is IMO. Yeh, but it is easier to slag people off, isn't it?
Master Bates Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 I've just listened to him on SSN and I can't see that he's said anything wrong. He's simply said it as it is IMO. +1 First time I agree with Chorley.

Nexstar Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 So we haven't actually moved any further than we were 2 weeks ago. How long is due dilligence expected to take, considering we only have a week?
bridge too far Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 So we haven't actually moved any further than we were 2 weeks ago. How long is due dilligence expected to take, considering we only have a week? According to the tales about Pompey - it could take until July!
Master Bates Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 So we haven't actually moved any further than we were 2 weeks ago. How long is due dilligence expected to take, considering we only have a week? Except we now know the swiss are rolling in.
OldNick Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Yeh, but it is easier to slag people off, isn't it?but if RC is slagging off RL about the radio station then IMO that is not right and so he's not speaking for me. I was fully expecting to see him at Saintsaid but i didn't see him. Until we stop pointing the finger the club will die.People who have no connection to us always point to the infighting at the club. United we stand divided we fall and all that.
Frank's cousin Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 NEGOTIATIONS in late stage with 4 parties eg they are negotiating of price/size of bid, clauses and the what nots - to see if any of teh 4 bids is satisfactory to creditors - then preferred bidder selected and due diligence so lates stage in our case referes to phase 1 not the end game.
saintbletch Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 We're on again in a min Just another summary. Said there might be light at the end of the tunnel. Replayed bits of the Chorley interview. Said that Sky Sports News understands that some of the interest is coming from Switzerland. That was it. Looks like Fry again using the media and our emotions to get the messages he wants out into the public domain. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I guess that is his job.
