That is totally out of order. There's no way that an administrator should be employing people who he cannot be sure of being able to pay - whatever the technical nature of relationship is between SLH and SFC.

SFC is insolvent - it manifestly cannot pay its debts as they fall due - so must go into administration or liquidation.

I'm surprised that the staff don't lynch Fry and his cronies. Do you think their mortgage companies and other creditors will lend a sympathetic ear on the basis that some kid in a suit is trying to find a buyer?

Unbelievable!

What is stopping one (or more) of the staff refusing to work on a goodwill basis?

Mr. Fry asks for their help, but I would put money on it that he won't tell them any more info about who the buyers are or what's holding up the sale.

Nothing, I think now any player that wants to leave could leave on a free if they arent paid.

Youd have thought theyd accept anything for Dyer if it meant paying the players wages and holding onto their contracts.

Sucks for the normal staff that they cant pay their bills now.

Just think it's very cavalier of Fry to continue employing people when he does not have the money to pay them.

Surely they should have been warned of the possibility of not being paid before they did the work - so that at least they had some choice in whether or not they worked for nothing ...

But you are suggesting that the staff should lynch Fry. Its not his fault we are in this mess.

And how do you know they were not warned? TBH, they have got to be very odd if they hadnt realised there was a chance of not getting paid this month.

I was under the impression that as soon as he couldnt pay an invoice he was legally bound to put us in to liquidation? Surely if he cant pay the staff we are unable to pay for electricity or any other base cost.

No bunch in exclusivity then. Thought he said one was.

And 4 of them now - isn't it time to force action from one of them or call it a day and go back to Southend?

A very simplistic view on the situation, obviously he would have hoped a takeover would have taken place by now.

And if the clerical staff were not aware that there was a possibility they might ht not be paid I would be amazed. The story of Crouch paying for April being a starter for 10. Doesn't make it right, but it must have been on their mind surely?

It is a sorry state of affairs. The hard working staff must be beside themselves with worry.

They are being asked to work one more week out of goodwill, still with no guarantee that they will actually receive the salary they have earned. I know what I would be thinking in their situation, the poor sods.

Could this be the beginning of the end? Will there be further sanctions from the football league for this, thus making a sale of the club more unlikely? Regardless of the club's impressive facilities, a league one team starting on -10 points isn't very attractive a proposition. An even heftier points deduction and therefore more likely further relegation makes them even less so.

Oh joy.

More likely the money for "bills and invoices" has been ring fenced with not a lot left over, so staff have been asked to wait until the cash flow gets better before getting paid. Been done a million times in a thousand offices up and down the country over the last 18 months I would wager.

The other bills may not be due or are in the name of SLH, he is asking for the staff's patience a thing that often happens in these cases

so there is no money for the staff but the bill for Mr '48 hours' Fry keeps climbing.

I hope he is on a 'no sale, no fee' deal, because if not he could drag it out a bit longer and overtake Barclays on the creditors list.

How about some good news from SMS for a flipping change.

My son is a coach in the community for SFC and he will not get paid but will still carry on coaching the kids.

Kinda puts things in perspective though. Lots of people on this forum (me included) fretting about whether or not we will have a football club next season - which is a country mile away from what the staff at SFC are currently going through wondering how they are going to pay the bills this month or, indeed, if they will have a job at all after next Friday.

Posted

I feel for the staff and their families - The culprits who got us is in this mess have by and large got away unscathed and before some wise guy reminds me of the losses incurred by shareholders, investments in football club Plc 's' are somewhat of a gamble especially when run by someone called Rupert !!!

It was something i mentioned many times when fans were excited about going into adminsitration.Oh how good it was going to be to see RL lose money and there were loads of people who wanted to take us over. When RL was gone there would be no stopping them

Perhaps my view is simplistic but so too are the demands of the employees' own creditors. I don't suppose HBOS give a toss about Southampton Football Club when hitting late payers with demands for additional interest and worse!

Even in these morally ambiguous times, it is not right for anyone, especially an Administrator appointed by the Court, to take the benefit of someone else's labour unless they are 100% sure that they have the money to pay for it.

Fry has been gambling with the staff's wages and that is out of order as a matter of morality and law.

If SFC cannot pay the staff wages on the day they fall due then, in the absence of a formal waiver from every member of staff, SFC Limited is insolvent. The directors of SFC have a clear legal duty to put the company into administration or liquidation.

Please do not forget that Fry's only interest in SFC is to dispose of it in order to realise as much cash as possible for the creditors of SLH plc and to pay his costs.

Ultimately he doesn't give a ***t about SFC or its employees.

I'm guessing that the first one to agree to paying the 500K will get the exclusivity.

These are desperate times.

Quick question...

WHat will happen to the players contracts if they do not get paid? Will they become void? Is this why Swansea haven't exchanged money for Dyer yet, if they can get him on a free.

Intelligence and foresight are not high on your average football fans list of qualities. I should know because I am one ;-) - but I do take care not to make broad sweeping statements about people. Edited by kpturner

I'm sure individual members of staff could opt not to come into work. That wouldn't liquidise the club. That individual could instigate legal proceedings over not getting his pay but i doubt that would be quicker than waiting to see if we get liquidised next friday.

I would have thought the club itself can't go into administration as all the assets are held by the holding company. Surely it's takeover or kaput. Happy to be told i'm wrong on these facts as it's just my layman's perspective.

we are fooked!! Why would they arrange a meeting with the staff next friday to update them on the sale of the club if in previous statements he was saying 48 hours (which has now gone)

Conversely, if we are genuinely fooked already, why wait until next Friday to say what could be said now? ******* hell, it is depressing though.
