If we have any matches to play, that is... Means i'll keep listening to Radio Solent... Edit. which isn't online commentary... Edited 28 May, 2009 by Scudamore
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 that is sad news as well. The curse of SMS strikes again.
ladysaint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Devasted I really liked listening to that radio station, I thought it sounded somewhat different this morning not the normal presenter and even worse I will now have to retune my car radio.
slickmick Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 More money we would have recieved through rent has now gone.
Pancake Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Devasted I really liked listening to that radio station, I thought it sounded somewhat different this morning not the normal presenter and even worse I will now have to retune my car radio. LadySaint. Retune Radio. I assume she will be off line for a few hours chaps.
Gingeletiss Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 LadySaint. Retune Radio. I assume she will be off line for a few hours chaps. I understand she has booked her car into the garage...;-)
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 This means listening to the jovial Dave Merrington on matchdays; complete with mispronunciation of at least 30% of the players names.
VectisSaint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 More money we would have recieved through rent has now gone. Do we actually know they were paying rent? Maybe Fry asked them to pay rent or get out and that pushed them over the edge. It was always a dodgy organisation anyway (I mean dodgy in terms of being viable, not illegal or something). It cost us when we owned it, so could never really see how it would make money when sold off, especially with advertising revenue seriously reduced in the recession. Sounds to me like this is probably just a coincidence and nothing to do with SFC/SLH.
ladysaint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 I understand she has booked her car into the garage...;-) LOL Any suggestions for a new radio station, dont like Radio 1 and want a local news station, dont want to hear about PFC every 5 minutes either. I loved RH as it was the only one that gave you updates on SFC. What will happen to the brothers now!
Gingeletiss Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 This means listening to the jovial Dave Merrington on matchdays; complete with mispronunciation of at least 30% of the players names. Maybe not...........he could be our next chairman!!!!
VectisSaint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 I liked radio hampshire. Ffs. How far we've sunk that we can't even afford a radio station now. We couldn't afford it in the first place, it lost money, thats why it was sold. Another silly idea that ended up costing us money that should have been invested in players to improve the football club.
Gordon Mockles Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Has gone t!ts-up. Staff seen removing equipment from St Marys. Could be a result of the new ownership. Not necessarily sinister...unless there's more to be disclosed?! I like listening to Radio Hants. Shame if it's to go. Solent and their practical stories like "how to remove poo from sheep's bum fur" doesn't always rivet!!
bungle Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 This means listening to the jovial Dave Merrington on matchdays; complete with mispronunciation of at least 30% of the players names. "Mispronunciation", surely?
Sheff Saint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Will Cope was made redunant a few weeks ago. ON Sky Sports a bit now. Apparently. Power's gone, Ocean goes in June. All a bit rubbish now, local radio is just a big central based joke.
Pancake Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Has gone t!ts-up. Can I infract your for circumventing the swear filter (even though 'tit' isnt in the swear filter)
Frank's cousin Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Can I infract your for circumventing the swear filter (even though 'tit' isnt in the swear filter) I guess you could that would make you look a bit of a T!t no? ;-)
trousers Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Can I infract your for circumventing the swear filter (even though 'tit' isnt in the swear filter) Is 'bugger' allowed? (in context, obviously)
RobM Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 I don't understand.... we (SLH) sold 'The Saint' some time ago, so why would our misfortune affect them??
St_Guido Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Sad news, I really enjoyed their Saints coverage. In terms of music I'm an old f*rt so much prefer "The Coast" on 106FM anyway. Its all 70s rock & acoustic country.
Pancake Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 I don't understand.... we (SLH) sold 'The Saint' some time ago, so why would our misfortune affect them?? No-one has said that the failure of SLH/SFC has affected Radio Hants. More likely is that they wont have paid their rent for the last few months, which would hurt us.
Frank's cousin Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Is 'bugger' allowed? (in context, obviously) In this case I would suggest Buggered is allowed - I think for us right no, we are bent over a barrel, tided down, trousers round ankles with a whole crew of burly seamen waiting in line after being at sea for 5 years....

Fair point... just seems odd that it has been wound up so quickly, with no former notice and on the same day that SMS staff haven't been paid.
del boy Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 "Mispronunciation", surely? thats easy for you to say
Pancake Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 In this case I would suggest Buggered is allowed - I think for us right no' date=' we are bent over a barrel, tided down, trousers round ankles with a whole crew of burly seamen waiting in line after being at sea for 5 years....[/quote'] Far too much info Frank.
CB Fry Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 We couldn't afford it in the first place, it lost money, thats why it was sold. Another silly idea that ended up costing us money that should have been invested in players to improve the football club. How much did we spend on it, though? Unlikely it would have freed us up to buy Steed Malbranque.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 This means listening to the jovial Dave Merrington on matchdays; complete with mispronunciation of at least 30% of the players names. LOL - never forget last season under Burley when we played Burnley away. I tuned in to learn we were playing Burley and Burnley was our manager and he made the same mistake for the whole game. That's entertainment! Tbh I'm glad Radio Hants has gone as their coverage was becoming depressing and some of the people who phoned in after the games were more boring and depressing than David Armstrong. David Armstrong's whose stock answer to the tough questions was: ' I can't comment as it never happened to me as a player'. That fact seemed to stop him having an opinion! Also, how slow was the results service on Radio Hants and it always seemed to be wrong as well. Thank god they are history along with Cider Bob and the TT lovefest. Cider Bob who could always manage to drive to a layby to get reception but not the extra 20 miles to attend a game - priceless he got air time. One point of reflection perhaps Osman's radio show on a Sunday morning is on the wrong station.
Weston Super Saint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 If you lot hadn't been attending the SaintsAid concerts last weekend and had attended the Radio Hampshire bake sale, they could have raised the 41p needed to pay the electric bill Bloody selfish I say!
trousers Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Bloody sell fish I say! I've got some hallibut for £3.49 a kilo if that's any good?
Pancake Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Fish "puns" will be punished by infractions from this point.
Weston Super Saint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 I've got some hallibut for £3.49 a kilo if that's any good? That's a bargain! I'll take 41p worth

However, I don't understand why you listened if you disliked it so much :-) I wonder if Merrington's faux-pas are as annoying as Mark Dennis' consistent references to Mark Wotna ???

It was comical, some of the contributors were ok though
Redondo Saint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 That's a bargain! I'll take 41p worth will you pay C.O.D?
VectisSaint Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 How much did we spend on it, though? Unlikely it would have freed us up to buy Steed Malbranque. Maybe not, but might have paid his wages for a few weeks, or even paid for his agents fees. In the end throwing money down the drain does not help the club progress, and also distracts those in charge form the primary aim of a football club.
kpturner Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 It was comical, some of the contributors were ok though...like me :-) I think the writing was on the wall once they got down to one presenter (Stewart Dennis) doing all the shows under a pseudonym with a disguised voice. How he managed to impersonate a girl called Gemma McParland without hurting his vocal chords I will never know.
Reib80 Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 That's a massive shame. I used to love listening to 'the Brothers' every evening. Mark Dennis was brilliant. Hope someone else local snaps them up
Give it to Ron Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 are they still broadcasting or has it stopped? Stopped....well I couldnt pick it up in the wifes car just now. Shame as I really liked some of the stuff on there. Nineteen you really are a piece of work...you are happy that people have lost their jobs At radio Hampshire yet you were slagging off Crouch the other week for laying off 50!

I went on and got as many user names from posters on here I could in conversation with David Armstrong after we won at Derby last season.Lol
trousers Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Fish "puns" will be punished by infractions from this point. will you pay C.O.D? You're on very fin ground there I reckon (f.a.o. Pancake...that's a dolphin's fin I refer to there which of course is a mammal not a fish)

Nineteen you really are a piece of work...you are happy that people have lost their jobs At radio Hampshire yet you were slagging off Crouch the other week for laying off 50! I did not have a go at Crouch for laying off 50 staff but questioned how he may have been perceived by those 50 in addition to his current staff for throwing large and potentially job saving sums at a football club deserted by many of it's fanbase. IMO another PR disaster for Crouch and I believe proves my point that charitable donations are best given anonomously. As for Radio Hampshire it was the staff's job to make the station competitive and innovative and it seems to me they relied in the end on some serial Lowe bashing and general 'shock-jock' tactics that would only appeal to an audience that have proven themselves to be largely apathetic. Dennis was about as appealing as Kyle and Gaunt - ok in very small doses but almost impossible to listen to for a whole show because of a lack of quality and need for something a bit more balanced.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 28 May, 2009 Posted 28 May, 2009 Web sites still up, and no news on there! WTF!
