buctootim Posted 26 May, 2009 Posted 26 May, 2009 Oh, I'm not doubting the OP: I'd just like to see some definite confirmation from some kind of official source or named source. Is Channon8 Mick Channon's son, by any chance? I seem to recall him posting on this board or S4E under some such name a few years back. If so, he'd be likely to have some real knowledge ... No idea -sorry. Like you, I just hope its true.

Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 May, 2009 Posted 26 May, 2009 It could be him. Apparently he affectionately wrote 'Where the streets have no shame' about Derby Road. Sorry Buctootim you've lost me, is that where most of our infamous boycotters live?
buctootim Posted 26 May, 2009 Posted 26 May, 2009 Sorry Buctootim you've lost me, is that where most of our infamous boycotters live? Used to be the red light area, full of streetwalkers. I had a 6ft tall long haired male friend with a beard who got kerb crawled, briefly. edit: Ah. Bit slow, sorry. I think perhaps you knew that already you little agent provacateur.
Channon8 Posted 26 May, 2009 Author Posted 26 May, 2009 No i am not, just grew up watching his windmill celebration from the chocolate boxes at the milton road end,and he was my boyhood idol. The info was told to me on friday, but was confirmed by Mark Fry this afternoon.I dont know who the 2 Irishmen are,but they now lead by a short neck, followed by Pinnacle.

Errr sorry about this but as I'm not a 'racing fan' can you translate 'short neck' into 'millions of pounds' for me please - many thanks...!

Streetwalkers, kerb crawlers same name different route. Still I guess it will be soon for all to decide 'with or without you' once again. Just hope this is not a ploy to get a club in the football league relocated to Northern Ireland. With the likes of Linfield and Coleraine there must be a market in a resurgent city like Belfast for the chance of top flight English football or SFC. Very slim chance of it happening I guess but why do Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham play in the English leagues when there is a Welsh league? Who'd have thought Wimbledon would move to a hockey stadium in the up and coming Milton Keynes? It's not as though Belfast and Southampton don't have a strong link courtesy of the Titanic. SB Titanic - don't know why, but I like that name, has a certain familiarity to it.

Ohhh and if it happened - believe me, we would walk this league, no problem...!

So can we deduce that Fry has used Jackson purely as bait to expediate action from the Irish Bhoys and Pinnacle. Hence, the allegedly free look afforded Jackson and Green? Didn't realise this season was going to have quite so many home games in it.
ITKSaint Posted 26 May, 2009 Posted 26 May, 2009 None of this explains the Phil Collins involvement, none of it.

Ohhh and if it happened - believe me, we would walk this league, no problem...! Micky, not sure I'd be up for it but would suit all those last season who prefered to travel away from SMS to get their Saints fix. Probably get a chance to rename the team like MK Dons, loads of good naming potential with the ties between Belfast and Southampton.
ITKSaint Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I post the below, as received, just in case things get tricky in the coming 48 hours as a fallback plan, just trying to do my bit, no need to thank me. I write to you haven taken cognizance of the sensitive nature of this deal and thought carefully of a confidant that will assist me in the transaction. I have deemed it pertinent and appropriate to contact you directly for a prospective business deal in the tune of GBP34.3 million. I am a Portfolio Manager with UBS financial services Inc, and I am ready and willing to work this deal out with your sincere assistance and cooperation. It will be unwise to jeopardize the success of this transaction at this point by releasing the details as I cannot confirm your exact stand till I receive your response to this email. I will give you the full details of the transaction and how to go about it as soon as I confirm your positive response. Honesty, confidentiality and effective communication is highly needed to ensure prompt conclusion of this deal as this is risk-free and profitable. Regards, Stephen Murrel stephenmurrel247@alice.it

Not sure I want it to be this one though....
Nineteen Canteen Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 None of this explains the Phil Collins involvement, none of it. Lowe warned him of the dangers of believing 'follow you, if you'll follow me'. Now he appears to prefer to be selling England by the pound and living in Switzerland. Collins not Lowe, who remains focussed on the whole Ireland thing.

The9 Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 why do Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham play in the English leagues when there is a Welsh league?. That would be because they all existed for over 80 years (in Wrexham's case over 100 years) before there was a national league in Wales. As pedants rule this thread, I should point out that Wrexham now play in English "non-League", along with Newport County AFC, Colwyn Bay and, depending on their financial status this week, Merthyr Tydfil. As for MK Dons, best not open ourselves up to relocation, especially when we are nearer to having a ground and no team than a team and no ground.

Thanks for the info on the Welsh teams, genuinely interested on that issue and the whole debate about Celtic and Rangers joining the English leagues. As regards MK Dons scenario it may still depend on the buyer. Is it inconceivable a property developer could have more grandiose plans? A different team and a new ground. In the meantime has Jackson and Green been used as prey to encourage the hunter to break cover? Sitting ducks seems to have been a persistent theme.
Arizona Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Let's try and keep it civilised. We have an ignore function you know.

Ive just posted off my bank details so this time next week I should be a millionaire - perhaps I might buy Saints...."its the way I tell em"
dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Right, where's MB when we need him, should be all over the Echo by now Isn't it?
Killers Knee Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Could be a bad move, what if they try and replace the Balti Nan's with Colcannon or Burgers with Soda bread? I think we should say thanks, but no thanks. We have to safeguard the future.
Red and White Army Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Isn't this 99% likely to be utter BS? Much as I hope someone is on the verge of saving our club, it puzzles me how this has come from nowhere.
Flyer Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Very slim chance of it happening I guess but why do Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham play in the English leagues when there is a Welsh league?it. More to the point, why are they still governed by the Welsh FA, virtually every red card and suspension is overturned. If they play in our league, they should play by our rules.
dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Isn't this 99% likely to be utter BS? Much as I hope someone is on the verge of saving our club, it puzzles me how this has come from nowhere. It hasn't come completely from nowhere, Fry has been saying something along these lines for several weeks. Neither C8 or others would mention it if it was from the usual sources However, even IF there has been a deposit made available, there will be a large amount of contractual issues to resolve and nothing will happen quickly, although Fry would in all likelihood make some statement today. It is still a dangerous two days for SFC Ltd, don't celebrate yet
Red and White Army Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Ummm no - Fry has NOT said this for the last two weeks. I seem to remember him saying a takeover was very unlikely not too long ago. Southampton sale 'unlikely'- Fry Administrator Mark Fry Fry says the Pinnacle consortium has not yet delivered what it promised The administrators in charge of Southampton say finding a buyer for the club now looks "unlikely". Mark Fry of administrator Begbies Traynor told BBC Radio Solent: "It's very unlikely a transaction [for the club] will be completed." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8055407.stm
Master Bates Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Right, where's MB when we need him, should be all over the Echo by now Isn't it? In today's echo.................... is writing and poor grammar. Haven't got to the shop yet. So after skimming 7 pages in 5mins I take it we're being bought out by Paddy Murphy and about 75% of the forum users have become teachers.

I seem to remember him saying a takeover was very unlikely not too long ago. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8055407.stm Yes he said that but also his "mystery overseas bidders" have been mentioned for what seems like weeks. Along with "48 hours" of course.
alpine_saint Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 If this is true, an announcement should be made today.
70's Mike Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I go away from the pc for a few hours and a frenzy of 7 pages errupts one question are there any actual facts other than the first post

dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I go away from the pc for a few hours and a frenzy of 7 pages errupts one question are there any actual facts other than the first post First post is not a statement of facts, it is the statement of a sound rumour. Big difference:-) There are then a few odd co-incidences, such as thegaffer's thread. So no this is a good old fashioned - why hasn't the Echo printed something morning.
um pahars Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 My only contribution to this thread is that over the weekend I was told by someone very close to the action that Jackson and Green were too late. No other information was disclosed, but I read it that they were too late because someone else had pipped them (as opposed to the plug being pulled). Sort of stacks up with the OP, but never got any inkling about who the bidders actually were.
Wade Garrett Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4397981.Surprise_new_bidder_for_Saints/ Unforunately, given the Echo's track record, they probably just lifted the story from this thread.
Master Bates Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Front and back page of Echo: Front page: Irish Bid for Saints; Business Duo have £500k deposit ready. Back page: Irish eyes on Saints 4 interested parties in total: Pinnacle Marc Jackson & Co Irish businessmen Mystery consortium
ericofarabia Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Something will happen in the next 48 hours. As ever. And once again it's all building up to a super duper mega rollover take over Friday YAY As The EasyBeats and The Cure might say ....... ( I think we should adopt this as our theme tune ala Stoke with Delilah etc ) The Easybeats - Friday on My Mind Lyrics Monday morning feels so bad, Ev'rybody seems to nag me Coming tuesday I feel better, Even my old man looks good, Wednesday just don't go, Thursday goes too slow, I've got Friday on my mind Chorus Gonna have fun in the city, Be with my girl she's so pretty, She looks fine tonight, She is out of sight to me, Tonight....I spend my bread, Tonight...I lose my head, Tonight...I got to get tonight Monday I have Friday on my mind. Do the five day drag once more, Know of nothing else that bugs me More than working for the rich man, Hey I'll change that scene one day, Today I might be mad, Tomorrow I'll be glad, I've got Friday on my mind, (Repeat Chorus)
sidthesquid Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 A possible real bidder has appeared to do what Fry wanted, and we fight over spelling mistakes Has to be an all time classic moment I would just like to point out that you missed off the full stop at the end of your sentences.
SaintDonkey Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I reckon it could be one wealthy bloke rather than a load. The Echo thinks 2 Irish businessmen. The question is does the Echo have any more credibility than Hypo? Probably not
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 There's a good gag in the Echo asking is Pat Le Tissier involved
rallyboy Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I fear that new investors will have been put off by the poor use of language on this thread. Or they may have died of boredom ploughing through it, trying to find something relevant to the topic.
