A possible real bidder has appeared to do what Fry wanted, and we fight over spelling mistakes

Has to be an all time classic moment

A POSSIBLE REAL BIDDER, so what does that mean then Phil?

The short sleeves are O.K. It`s the short sleeve/tie combo that is the fashion crime.:)

I threw all my old short sleeved work shirts out on Saturday, I've never worn them since those days.

Suppose they'll be back in fashion then.

Well we are more likely to get the spelling and grammar right (eventually) than the eventual buyer. I had to proof read this several times before I had the courage to press . I cannot wait to see what I ****ed up :-)

No full stop at the end? Don`t pretend that the smiley-thing is a full stop. It just won`t do!:)

Ahhh just when I was going to pack up for the day as well. Here we go for yet another 10 page thread to try to get to the bottom of who really wants to buy us.

So now we have MJ, an Irish Consortium and the Pinnacle lot still appear to be in there somewhere - might be time for a poll to see who we think are the TK's and whoose the Real Deal.

In Fry's own mind, in his own mind my fiend

(see what I did there?!)

The 500k non refundable deposit without knowing all the details

BUT what it also means is that MJ may not be the only hope the club has of avoiding being carved up.

You have ANY idea how worrying THAT was? Not from a personality perspective like much of the forum, but the sheer horror of worrying what would happen if the money men found something they didn't like and pulled out.

FF for the Paddy's I say. We now have 3 hopes No Hope, Bob Hope and now they are joined by Envelope

I know i dont post often, but i thought i would share my news.Their is an Irish consortium that have today paid the £500,000 required to enter a period of exclusivity, and a deal is done at £15,000,000,subject to nothing untoward being found. As we were a PLC,working under strict guidlines hopefully none will be found.

The Pinnacle bid is still very much in the hunt and this new interest from the 2 Irish guys might force there hand one way or the other.Hopefully within a matter of days we will have a club to be proud of once again.

Its funny how these things come around. I had a phone call with someone about 2 hours ago telling me the above and it was all hush hush :) So it shows it doesnt take much for the rumour mill to run

lol my old employers head office used to be in Ireland. So I called them that to their face on that day in April in Dublin and got out alive...

And NO I haven't got a clue, that WASN'T a fookin hint, all I got was a txt and a call

Do these two statements not conflict somewhat?

Ok, the Irish deal may fall through and Pinnacle step in. But you aren't really in the hunt if someone has exclusivity and close to the deal.

Tch tch tch Trousers.

I do believe this should read 'a very proud day for my family AND ME'.

I respectfully disagree ma'am. I was always taught that it was "..and I". Perhaps it's different here in Tory land?

Correct, BUT, the Exclusivity period includes a time for Due Dilligence when it IS possible that nasty things can be found that would make the spending of ONLY 500k less of a disaster than spending (the alleged) 15 million.

In this situation, exclusivity period means only that the bidder has a set time to complete the purchase and that the Administrator cannot ACCEPT another deal and sell to someone else.

HOWEVER, the administrator would want to make sure that any other interested parties do not go away completely, as an insurance in the event of a probem arising.

A lot will depend on the actual TERMS of the contract for exclusivity, which, according to the Echo was the problem that hit Pinnacle

Then you were taught incorrectly, sweetie.

The check is to remove the first part (my family and) to see if what's left makes sense. You wouldn't say 'it's a very proud day for I' now, would you?

Oh you would, would you!

Yours - the product of a socialist education xx

(Actually I was the product of Southampton City Council's grammar school education - yep, I'm that old!)

This is exciting I have jumped ship from MJ to the Irish and now think I might try Pinnacle for a few hours.Such choice at last

Look, take the other party out of the equation and you can quickly see whether it should be 'me or I'. It's very simple:

Becky and I went to the shops - because I went to the shops.

Becky bought a present for Tony and me - because she bought it for me.

English lesssons free, history starts at £50 an hour, accounting/administration, £400.... ;)

Sorry, trousers but you're wrong and he's right.

Ps calm down everyone. It's not over yet.

She is quite correct. If you omit "my family and" from 'a very proud day for my family AND ME' it makes sense which it doesn`t if you use "I". That in general is the rule.

See you do get things right,I must PM Oohterry to tell him you do get it right sometimes
He won't understand the irony. On to more important matters - I think you would benefit from a full stop at the end of the sentence and a comma after "See". It should also be a full stop after "right" followed by a space. Please don't post on this thread until you have improved your literary skills. [-X

Time for a limerick, to be sure:

There were some men from the west

Who thought it was time to invest

They scoured the UK

Until the fine day

When they decided Southampton was best

Sorry, but the new Poet Laureate has only just been appointed.:(

lol

Never mind the quality or reality of the content, worry only about the presentation

Damn that would mean a lot of "elder statespersons" with dodgy keyboards or the after effects of a shandy or two being banished!

Easily the most entertaining and educational thread I have seen on this forum. If the OP turns out to be true (but terribly written) then it will be a bonus....but I have my doubts.

Is it OK to use .... and - because I do that a lot?

It`s bad enough having to read the BS on here, but when it is littered with spelling mistakes, inacurate puntuation and bad grammar, it is just unforgivable.:)

A fellow pedant! Greetings, sire.

However, it is 'inaccurate' and 'punctuation' :)

Both can be correct depending on the situation. E.G. "It was (X and ) me" or "(X and ) I did it". And you a teacher. What chance do our children stand!:)
