Good shout.

Tom Walkinshaw?

TWR his engineering company developed the Anglo-Swedish taxi.

He isn't very tall.

He is involved in Rugby - Chairman of Gloucester I think.

His Arrows F1 grand prix team raced in black and gold (well orange actually and maybe not until he sold them but let's not that stand in the way of a good rumour).

And there was chat last week / month / whenever about someone called 'Justin Double-Barrelled' who was something to do with Gloucester, wasn't there?

sorry i think we are still considered bigger than pompey and it was maybe the older generation who may have considered pompey the big club pre war.

i think most people would lump them in the burnleys of this world.

huddersfeild, bolton were once considered big clubs along with charlton who use to get big gates pre -war.

when pompey started their defence of their fa cup at home only 10.000 pompey fans attended which is terrible. they hardly sell out all their home games and most pompey fans will tell you that they do not ned a bigger ground because they were unlikely to fill it. you are right about the pitaful pompey songs.

OK ... I've read all that.... So, IF we are still considered to be Bigger than Pompey ..... WHY has the Sheikh decided to buy THEM, and not US

Reality ..... Pompey are PREM ....... we are DIV 1 ....(and may not exist)

Please get Real ..... we do not even know if we will have a Club next season .............Totton FC are bigger than us at the moment ......( with respect to TFC of course)

I am sorry Solentstar, but would have to disagree with you here (I am a Saints fan), But football has a short memory, and for 5 long years they have been the bigger club. I think we showed we weren't one of the big boys when we got 23k when the clubs future depended on it. That would have been a sell out out at a Leeds or Forest. I thought in the premiership years we had move on into a middle ground, being the same size as a West Ham or an Everton. But the reality is that we are an Ipswich / Charlton or Norwich. If we have the big boys in town we can sell out, but out of the average 30k fans that went to SMS week in week out I suspect 18-20k were proper hard core fans, the rest went to see Prem football. I sadly suspect we may see the firt sub 10k attendance at SMS if we ever make league one.

I half agree with you DD, but I would add that it was down to the Boardroom Managership of Our Club that has made us shrink in stature.

On the South Coast, we DID have a God sent opportunity to progress to the BIG LEAGUE

Lowe scuppered all that, and led us Downwards, and not up .......i

Does anyone really believe that there's a mystery overseas buyer ?

Fabricated rubbish to keep them others on their toes more like.

No, I don't believe it either. Would be interesting to see if Fry has had previous dealings with 'mystery' bidders who emerge late on in proceedings in previous administration campaigns.

I think you should all ignore most of what Dainty Dave says.

Hmm, sounds like good advice. In fact, it's exactly what I already was doing. Well, more accurately, I was ignoring all of it. Don't care who he is, but nobody genuine would post such sh1te.

Most seem to be concentrating on the "Black & Gold", But the original poster of that posted it as "Gold & Black", Obviously the Gold was more prominent in his mind than the way most would say it. ie, "Black & Gold". So maybe David GOLD is a good shout.

All just IMO.

Would be dodgy/illegal to be honest - but then so is so much in the mysterious financial world... I know many blame FRy for the delays - but I suspect that the problem is simply that the bidders are stalling either in confirming funds or simply in the credibilty of their bids which is probably frustrating Fry as the 'ask for more time' to get the funds in order... Apparently the POmpey purchase was actually agreed nearly 3 weeks ago, but kept quiet - until after it was virtually ready to roll subject to due dilligence - in our case it seems that in order to get to this detailed due diligence phase as the preferred bidder, the proof of funds and guarrantees seem to be the sticking point - I am not concerned taht there are potential 'jokers' in the pack, Fry will be wise enough to this and it wont 'hold up' any deal - Its teh fact that no preferred bidder has been identified which suggests that to date NONE of them have demonstarted enough credibilty or strong enough ommitment from the money men that worries me...

Rading your condition, it's starting to sound like we're all suffering from SBS, or Susan Boyle Syndrome. Don't know how it's all going to finish up but I can see investment in a psychiatric clinic in the Southampton area is going to have thriving business for years to come.

Perhaps Rupert could run it, after all he had care home experience

No I told him about our jaunts when I had a drink with him at the forum match.

Oh I see, was trying to work out who he could have been! Those were the days; less work on, Saints flying high, beating Portsmouth in the League Cup, GM being GM, Frank wearing sunglasses, Widley Chimes, Costa, Norf London Yobbos, JL, Beattie always scoring, FA Cup Runs, Kevin Davies scoring at The Den, Anders vs Spurs...

They were fun times although a little scary when one individual started hacking.
