VectisSaint Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 More like a "Carry On....." film if you ask me....any ideas for a working title...? Carry On Up **** Creek Without a Paddle
Sold To The Man @ The Bar Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 who's raceing silks are black and gold ?
Pancake Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Who owns Johnnie Walker ? black and gold Diageo, who were formed when Guinness merged with Grand Met.
Big Bad Bob Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Trust me, the fella who is really out in front in the Southampton Acquisition stakes is real, plenty of cash....only a tiny wee fella though so not easy to spot him in the back of taxis etc. Plenty of heavyweights around to obscure, but I am sure the "ITK" crowd know who he is already, how he is connected and how the info on two of the bids is a little crossed over....Irish and Overseas and all that. But I am irritating some and starting ta bore others. Wonder if gold and black will be the new away strip........... Sincerely wish I could just spill the name, but 3 posts a day....would be unfair to hit and run. Admin should find a way to allow casual posters to reply to PMs or something. Funniest thing is the Echo don't know because their sources for these stories (i.e. two of the other bidding parties) don't know who the main guy is either. Which is the other reason can't post it on here. The clues are out there people, and sorry if this makes me sound like a tit, if I could communicate more than twice more today I would honestly give it straight from the horses mouth. But if this comes off, and it should, the smug bar stewards down the road might find that their gloating was premature and Saints will once again be associated with honour and glory. Hmm, wasn't there a link to Wasps rugby the other day?? They play in Gold and Black (mind you so do Wolves??) but a a 'tiny wee man obscured by lots of heavyweights' would lead me to thinking of a Rugby club owner!!

SaintDonkey Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 (edited) Tiny wee fella? Irish connections? Pots of cash? We're being takenover by a leprechaun? Sounds about right to be honest. I've been suspecting that the potential bidders were all mythical for a while. Edited 29 May, 2009 by SaintDonkey can't spell
SaintRichmond Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 It is time to **** or get off the pot. The four contestants are screwing the operation. The three weakest need to step aside and allow the strongest whoever that is to close the deal. Fry is on the brink of killing the club. He needs to call time if he has one definite bidder with the means to close the deal. It would be a lot easier with only one, the creditors might not be able to up the ante but they have put us where we are, especially Barclays. Yes, Barclays are the B*stards IMHO ..... Pound of Flesh time, alla Signor Antonio ??
Saint Billy Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 American NFL football team owner? New Orleans Saints play in black and Gold and the owner is nicknamed Little John.

OldNick Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 American NFL football team owner? New Orleans Saints play in black and Gold and the owner is nicknamed Little John. That is interesting. Is he maga rich do you know Billy?
InvictaSaint Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 American NFL football team owner? New Orleans Saints play in black and Gold and the owner is nicknamed Little John. Good shout. Would be a good addition to their 'franchise'.
Wes Tender Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 American NFL football team owner? New Orleans Saints play in black and Gold and the owner is nicknamed Little John. Funny that; I made the same connection. New Orleans Saints are viewed in much the same way over there as we are here; perpetual underachievers, but many have a soft spot for them.

Sounds a bit like us really.

Pancake Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 John Mecom, Jr? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Benson
Saint Billy Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 That is interesting. Is he maga rich do you know Billy? Hi Nick, this is only a deduction I made from DD's clues but seems to fit. Google John Mecom, Jr.
Weston Saint Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Dainty Dave is playing games. Have a look at his posting history. Joined 4 days after we went into Administation but seems to know what has gone on this forum and its previous format for a few years. Seems to have contacts with the Echo, hints at information from the Administrator, attacks Jackson as if he holds a personal grudge, says he is sat next to one of the creditors and now drops hints on a new buyer. Stanley hints at tommac and there is some similarity coming out. However it also sounds like HelpmeRhonda and "she" certainly had a grudge. Whoever it is I would suggest you do not trust the postings. I am not going to engage.

OldNick Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 They are owned by a lady, "Little" John Mecom sold it to Benson in 1985 FFS. Ohhhhhhh it sounded good though. I still feel if I was to support a NFL teamit would be them due to the saints thing
InvictaSaint Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Am beginning to tire of the way it is all dragging on now; emotionally very draining all of this, and if games are being played by certain parties then shame on all of them. To everybody involved: cure the patient or turn off the life support machine. Stop ****ing about and make a decision. Then, if we have to mourn, at least we will be able to.

I don't get the gold and black or the taxi references but while we're playing this exciting guessing game I'd go for Frank Maloney. This is great fun!
DT Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Might the black and gold be the Wolves connection? David Gold is also small though, and the 'hovering' made me think of his helicopter. PS all this delaying and false deadlines might very well be an aid to an investor forcing the price down.
Norm Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Has it happened yet? Are we now rich and bidding for Kaka? Anyone seen Wee Gord at SMS?

DT Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Black and gold - team lotus/John Player Special. Founder Colin Chapman? (I think)
Pancake Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Not a Leeds fan getting revenge eh Ron From what I understand, DD isnt so much into Leeds United, or even Leeds Rhinos. Now, if the latter team were in NY State....
miserableoldgit Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Oh well. If we are being silly and clutching at straws - Tom Cruise is quite teeny isn`t he? Would have bodyguards wouldn`t he? Mentioned here today (and previously) along with David Beckham. Must go - time for my medication!

solentstars Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 Ironically enough, that is not as daft as it sounds ..... Over the years, I have posted many times, that once Pompey got their act together, they would soon outstrip Saints..... ( I was saying this when we were in the Prem and they were struggling in the CCC Historically, Pompey WERE Big, and got gates well over 40000 at Fratton. Ask yourself this .... even when we had St Mary's built, and things were going for us Football wise, we were STILL not considered as Big as the "Sleeping Giant down the road Forget all the stupid hostility .... ( Is it not pitiful, that, even now, the Biggest chant at St Mary's is the "We hate Pompey " song ?? ) A Sheikh has honed in on a Prem Club, who play in an antiquated Stadium, (max capacity 21000), and is now going to take on their debt, AND invest money into the Club Good Luck to them I say ....... BUT WHY THEM AND NOT US ???? It cannot just be the fact that (now) we are Div ! ..... most pundits would reckon that given a little investment, we would certainly get back to the CCC pretty quick .......... Chicken and egg ...... success breeds success, victory's would mean rising attendances etc, etc. Unfortunately, I now think it will never happen. Most people know my thoughts on this site. Something is basically WRONG in the way SFC is set up........ Even over the past Twelve years, it is if we had the Bubonic Plague ....... NO Investment at all during that time ..... Businessess do NOT survive under those conditions, and the situation we now find ourselves in proves that point Pompey have been "taken over" very quickly ......... WE still (alegedly) may have a few "interested parties" hovering around. I don't think so .... we may end up with a Hotch Potch solution, but, IMHO, "you know who" will be the "mastermind" behind it sorry i think we are still considered bigger than pompey and it was maybe the older generation who may have considered pompey the big club pre war. i think most people would lump them in the burnleys of this world. huddersfeild, bolton were once considered big clubs along with charlton who use to get big gates pre -war. when pompey started their defence of their fa cup at home only 10.000 pompey fans attended which is terrible. they hardly sell out all their home games and most pompey fans will tell you that they do not ned a bigger ground because they were unlikely to fill it. you are right about the pitaful pompey songs.
Norm Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 FFS, this is all getting a little silly:rolleyes: Black & Gold could be........................... Add your guess here, OK, I will start...... Co-op Undertakers

TWR his engineering company developed the Anglo-Swedish taxi. He isn't very tall. He is involved in Rugby - Chairman of Gloucester I think. His Arrows F1 grand prix team raced in black and gold (well orange actually and maybe not until he sold them but let's not that stand in the way of a good rumour).

Rading your condition, it's starting to sound like we're all suffering from SBS, or Susan Boyle Syndrome. Don't know how it's all going to finish up but I can see investment in a psychiatric clinic in the Southampton area is going to have thriving business for years to come.
bridge too far Posted 29 May, 2009 Posted 29 May, 2009 It's one short step from 'Black and Gold' to 'Black and Tan'. This takes us full circle to the Irish question.
