Eyes k8 Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I thought Niall Quinn owned Sunderland with a few of his Irish mates. I think if Quinn came south it would be to buy Pompey. Your swine rumour mill is infecting us now. Rumours sweeping our boards from new posters of a big announcement within 36 hours (not Paul Hart). Come on own up it's one of you isn't it. Better not be LifeLong Saint taking us over
buctootim Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 According to Wikipedia (not the most of reliable sources, granted) Ward Anderson is ran by Leo Ward and Kevin Anderson. Does this Tom Anderson even exist? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward_Anderson Real but possibly not as rich as he was. http://www.tribune.ie/business/news/article/2009/mar/01/cinema-groups-anderson-behind-thomas-read-bid/

Gingeletiss Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I wonder if Mick Channon has had anything to do with this? The Irish love their gee gees. You havr it sir..........St Mary's will make a great stables!!!!
Toomer Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 You havr it sir..........St Mary's will make a great stables!!!! I thought it was already a stable seeing the number of cart horses we have had over the last few seasons.
Chez Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Pompey are more in the Red than we are ....... two leagues up and a Sky cheque coming their way though.
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 two leagues up and a Sky cheque coming their way though. You forgot the £20M+ they are being chased for right now by their creditors, plus many more millions falling due in the next 12 months....amongst other highlights.
Evo Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Better not be LifeLong Saint taking us over I think LifeLongMilk would get the entire forum's* support, praise and adoration if he were to succeed in taking over Pompey. Oh how we would laugh - "All hail King Jackson" we would chant . * Or forums', fora', forum's, Forum's, Forums', Fora' or Fingwhatever On the subject of F5 keys, my keyboard doesn't seem to have one?
dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Meanwhile, back on topic. Danger lurks, minefields abound, and the blindfolded downhill skateboard problem still exists. The journo on Beeb may be right about his allegation of Fry saying it could be a pivotal day. He forgot to mention in which way. Very worried of Al Safa
SaintRichmond Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 possibly the sunderland owners who have made a fortune from there takeover Including Nial Quinn ???? He's only just offerred Ricky Spragia a "job for life" at Sunderland ..... Funny old game Saint(s), Funny old game ...

dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 eh? I stayed with family friends a couple of weekends ago, they knew somebody close to the epicentre, they indicated things could be extremely difficult, more so than we on here would think. He got in touch this morning and said - be worried - so I am. Today is a very dangerous time. If the new guys sign the contracts then fantastic. If they delay then there is a danger that Pinnacle & MJ/SG group ease off we may run out of time to save the FC from being put into admin. 3 hours to go by his reckoning to get something signed
dellboypete Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Meanwhile, back on topic. ............. Very worried of Al Safa Phil, Have they started digging the canal through your neighbourhood yet? That's when I would start getting worried!
Pancake Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I'm looking to invest in a bespoke F5 ruiner... Laugh of the day.
krissyboy31 Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 BBC reported at lunchtime that MLT/Pinnacle group were thought to be very close to making an offer.

dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Phil, Have they started digging the canal through your neighbourhood yet? That's when I would start getting worried! Ah ha someone knows the area - nah I'm a bit further up, nearer to Park & Shop, but my old place got demolished this year! They won't build the canal for a couple of years - they ain't got the money! That would just be traffic nightmare, this other stuff is worrying.
dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Is it more than a coincidence that tomorrow is payday? No idea, I get stuff about process, but I suppose it could be something to do with it, but then I thought that was said last week not to be an issue, hence no idea

slickmick Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Probably already been mentioned, but who were the Man Utd owners that sold out to the Glaziers ?

If they delay then there is a danger that Pinnacle & MJ/SG group ease off we may run out of time to save the FC from being put into admin. 3 hours to go by his reckoning to get something signed To be honest, I doubt there are many who will be shedding any tears over anything to do with fat fool Jackson dropping out.

dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 To be honest, I doubt there are many who will be shedding any tears over anything to do with fat fool Jackson dropping out. Unless there is nobody else that can get through the mass of contractual issues. This is a very dangerous time to have no safety net, and Fry himself said words to that effect in the Echo article

Good news I can wait for, but the possibility of bad news will have me hitting F5 all afternoon.
DaintyDave Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Sunderland. Big club, but not necessarily bigger than Saints. Guy shows up when they're in the fizzy pop, says I like the plan, like the potential. Buys 30%, three years later they're stable in the Prem says I'll take the whole lot please. No "anonymous" consortium. Named, known and credible. Similarly Lerner, Abramovich, Ashley, Glazer (after initial "secrecy"), Gillette/Hicks. WHY GOD WHY. Why are we the only club subjected to mystery consortiums and unheard of owners, when clubs big and small up and down the country (QPR, really?) are getting solid and credible owners. SOMEBODY BUY US FFS
Scummer Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._P._McManus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Magnier They were shareholders, never ran the company though. United were 'owned' by the Edwards family, latterly Martin Edwards.

dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 So you are very worried, but you are not sure why? lol I am worried. The Irish have arrived late, they have made a deposit but have to agree and sign contracts to reach exclusivity. Those contracts caused Pinnacle to hit a brick wall and delayed the MJ/SG grouping. Fry said he wanted Pinnacle & MJ/SG to keep talking. Specialist legal knowledge came my way from a friend which as a helper I have passed on. The advice indicated that contracts would in all likelihood need to be signed today to avoid the possibility that the club could be placed in Admin, possibly tomorrow. So I am worried about that input, I have no clue or any source from UK as to whether it could be linked to specific operational problems at the club, it was the advice that was worrying. I cannot post it on here, not because of any iTK'ness, but because it is a family friend who works in a related field and he specifically asked me to not mention the details but ask the group to contact him directly. I am told his professional advice has been helpful, but it is not known if it has come in time. So I apologise for any typos or linguistic faults, but not for being worried

Ludwig Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 I am worried. Would the club being placed in admin be wholly contingent upon whether the wages are paid tomorrow?
dubai_phil Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Would the club being placed in admin be wholly contingent upon whether the wages are paid tomorrow? Set of reading specs in the post No idea. and post 484
Matthew Le God Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 They were shareholders, never ran the company though. United were 'owned' by the Edwards family, latterly Martin Edwards. Still two of them, rich, Irish and a football history
Weston Saint Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Time to take a big intake of breath me thinks and crossed fingers.
Scummer Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Time to take a big intake of breath me thinks and crossed fingers. How long can you hold your breath for?

Scummer Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Still two of them, rich, Irish and a football history Yeah you're right, they are probably the people he was thinking of.

slickmick Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Still nothing on Radio Solent, the 10am news said they had been told, that Mark Fry would be making an announcement today.
aberdare Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 You forgot the £20M+ they are being chased for right now by their creditors, plus many more millions falling due in the next 12 months....amongst other highlights. Those contracts caused Pinnacle to hit a brick wall and delayed the MJ/SG grouping. I thought it was the 500k dep which was the problem.
slickmick Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Solent have just said an announcement expected later today. Pinnacle are close to finalising the deal.
Wade Garrett Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 Time to take a big intake of breath me thinks and crossed fingers. Absolutely. I reckon if it's going to happen it will be today, tomorrow or not at all.
OldNick Posted 27 May, 2009 Posted 27 May, 2009 the wages are due to be paid thurs, I thought they were to be paid last thurs.Anyway just a worry and a question for the more experienced in this.If Fry has this money and could either pay it or throw it into the pot to make it bigger for the creditors and liquidate us? I have taken stick some weeks ago when I posted Fry fiddles while Rome burns, should he have used that time then to find out if Mj really could talk the talk? At least it would have left time for even Salz and co's picking up the bits if no other appeared. This last minute stuff without any real research by the Irish does concern me. Reading Dubai and Westons posts do concern me somewhat.
