Whether or not the Leon Crouch on Facebook is the real Leon Crouch, I notice that among his friends is Dave Merrington. Is that the real Dave Merrington?

And among Dave Merrington's friends are a number of Saints players and staff past and present including:

Josh Dutton Black

Danny Wallace

Ray Wallace

Reuben Agboola

Claus Lundekvam

Theo Walcott

Mark Wotte

Also Nick Illingsworth's name is there too!

So... are any of those genuine or are they all fakes? :)

No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

Matt MUST NOT be manager. He is too nice a guy to be a succesful manager. I adore the bloke but he should not risk his legendary status, under no circustances should he make himself that vulnerable.

Matt, you have nothing to prove, you are already loved and respected. You do not have the duty to 'save us' again. Don't do it.

Off at a tangent (again ) but there's a piece about Danny on the BBC Website today:

Lot of respect for Danny and his wife/family for supporting him and bringing him back.

He is looking good and for himself and his family and friends has a lot to live for.May God give him the strength to continue and do so much for MS and all the other sufferers.

Top Man.

Josh Dutton Black isn't a fake.

Having once "6 degrees of separationed" on Friends Lists via you to Gemma Atkinson via Fabrice Muamba and Cristiano Ronaldo I have to agree. It was a while ago though, I think celebs are a bit more savvy with their security now. :o

I bet if he ever did take the job there'd be people on here hoping he failed so they could be right. It is obviously far more important to be right than for Saints to do well afterall.

All these people who seem to know he wouldn't be good, I'm not quite sure what the source is. They insult him by comparing the situation to Hoddle, or insult fans by suggesting his status would be diminished if he failed. No, it wouldn't. Nothing about his playing career would be changed in the eyes of anyone with any ounce of common sense.

Some of us want him to have the chance because when it comes to saints he does work very hard and would be the best manager he could be. Above that, when it comes to football, he's a very, very intelligent guy. For me that's more important than anger and shouting. You can't question passion just because of the way he played, that's media nonsense. Anyone who saw him play knew how much he cared but could see he knew the only way to help was his natural game. Likewise, anyone watching sky sports now can see his passion for saints.

He'd need help from more experienced coaches, he'd get it. But he has the ability to do well as a manager, I have no idea why so many doubt him so much. They'd prefer to turn to Shearer, a man who's heart is with another club, has no personality and a tenth of the footballing intelligence. Brilliant.

That's about the stupidest thing I've read on here in a while. I didn't even bother to read the rest of the probable garbage you've written.

Never mind whether he is a nice guy or a nasty piece of work, the point is he has as much proof of being adept at management as Mother Theresa.

Can we please just do what successful clubs like Everton have done (I use them because there was a time we regularly played and beat them) and sign a manager with a proven record at another club and back him for the long term?

Seriously, some people would think football is rocket science judged on the way we go about finding and suggesting managers.

Who next, Claus???!!!

How low in their goals would someone have to sink to be impersonating Josh Dutton Black?

I remember seeing a few others which looked real a while ago. By real I mean the photos weren't the first pic which came up on Google and you really would have to be a special case to want to impersonate one of them.

Baseya, Nile Ranger, Lancashire are three I can remember.

There is also a fake Prutton, Skacel, Saganowski, L. Crouch and several Rupert Lowes on there.

Agreed. I don't think my bestest behaviour on here would last once the troll (19C) started slagging him off.

Rubbish! it was a sensible well written argument FOR something you are clearly AGAINST!

Matt enjoys creature comforts too much, too. I can't see him installing a regime of fitness in the players. Genius as he was, he was putting on weight and did like the clubs and bars, just a little.

We need a teetotal fitness maniac who can put the fear of god in the players, like Strachan or similar. Matt could be a brill penalty-taker coach though.

Matt will have a pivotal role at the club - and I would urge you all to never under estimate this man's ability. You all know of his amazing skills as a footballer. As a friend of his for a number of years, I also know the other side of Matt, and believe me, he has a very wise head on those shoulders.

Quoted from Tony Lynams Pinnacle statement, What is the pivotal role ?

Well, clearly not clutching at straws as that role has already been taken. ;)
