The Majestic Channon Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 Malbranque, Fletcher, Saha... De Pedro? Andy Reid. Locally, in my time, Brian Stock (who was a year above me in school) and Brian Howard, who I played with at local level football for a time. Damn Howard, his left foot was slightly better than mine! We never let Any reid ' get away' he turned us down. How many players in this thread turned us down ? isn't this the ones that got away thread? SFKA South Woodford Posted 27 May, 2009 Share Posted 27 May, 2009 I read the other day that Gareth Taylor was released by Saints. I'm pretty sure that Le Saux said that Saints turned him down when he was a nipper.

Charlie2008 Posted 27 May, 2009 Share Posted 27 May, 2009 Andrew Surman went to St Mary's College Quite right. My mistake - it appears Anderton is an old boy of Bitterne Park.

Gareth Taylor is in - we need a bigger subs bench or a reserve team now (unless he can play in goal). 1) Kevin Pressman 2) Darren Anderton 3) Graham Roberts 4) Jody Craddock 5) Gareth Southgate 6) Dennis Wise 7) Wade Elliott 8 ) Brian Howard 9 ) Kevin Phillips 10) Paul Rideout 11) Steve Guppy Subs === Jamie Cureton Darren Eadie Bobby Robson Brian Stock Sam Vokes Scott McDonald Gareth Taylor

david in sweden Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 Gazza had a trial here but ended up in goal to make up the numbers, hence never got through. Similar story with a lad called Alan Shearer, who was a schollboy keeper with ...Newcastle (!). before they let him go, and he came to us and began as a striker. Wonder whatever happened to him ...? Stu Man Do Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 I think Kaka has got to be top of the tree on this one. Think Lowe also refused to fork out £5m Rosicky. And Jason St Juste. Have he and Simon Clifford conquered the world yet? As far as I understood it WGS wanted Rosicky before he made his big money move to Germany so was never really any chance we'd get him. Can't say I've ever heard the Kaka story anyone care to enlighten me?!

Saint_Mabes Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 Well I hope David McGoldrick isn't gonna deserve a place on this post in the future...I was interested to see what the forset fans think of him and here's their response; 'He's been one of our best players this season by all accounts. I've only seen him once - last week at QPR, but he seems to have adapted well.' 'I think McGoldrick looks to be a bargain at £1m.' 'That lads doing well, thanks for asking. Good luck for the season.' 'a couple of solid tackles today looked pretty decent all season so far though to be fair to him' Oh dear!
david in sweden Posted 2 September, 2009 Share Posted 2 September, 2009 You think you're bad do you? We disbanded our youth team with the wise words from our manager, that there was nothing to be found in the Portsmouth area but fish. So we released on the same day for nothing young Peter Shilton and young Mick Mills. ffffggggarrrrrrrgggghhh. lol at us. Mmmmm ..with over 200 England caps between them, that must be some sort of record. Who was the smart manager who made that decision ?

Dimond Geezer Posted 2 September, 2009 Share Posted 2 September, 2009 Bitterne Park Comprehensive. Class of 87 if I remeber correctly Definitely Bitterne Park, right from infants to comprehensive schools. I used to play against him when we were kids, either down Riverside Park, or the school sports field. He was about 4 years younger than me and my mates and he used to run rings around us. His parents used to live (and still do I think) in Oaktree Road, his father ran a removal business and later went on to be a cabbie.
Noodles34 Posted 2 September, 2009 Share Posted 2 September, 2009 Gazza had a trial here but ended up in goal to make up the numbers, hence never got through. Not true, already said this before. It was Shearer who ended up in goal at Newcastle and so then came down here, Gazza was offered a trial down here but did not want to come. Thems the facts. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 2 September, 2009 Share Posted 2 September, 2009 Matt Mills, Martin Cranie, Leon Best, Dexter Blackstock, Cedric Baseya, Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale I see his career is going from strength to strength . Apparently he made 1 appearance for Lille OSC last season and is now on loan at 2nd Division Le Havre .
