kpturner Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 (edited) Yes. I won't give any financial support to anything that is to do with Marc Jackson. It is chucking good money after bad. But why? What do you know that (I at least) do not? I watched the video of that infamous interview that MJ did and I thought he looked and sounded a complete ***** to whom I would not give the time of day. However, I also am led to believe that he is merely associated with the bid rather than being an integral part of it. There is no evidence to suggest that his role would go any further should this group win control of the club. I certainly would not be announcing that I would be boycotting SFC matches if a group of people (who I now **** all about) purchase the club - so what do you know that I don't? Please enlighten me. Well, you take your choices. My opinion is that I would not give them time of day. Because they are jokers and chancers. I wouldn't touch any of them with a fecking long barge pole. It's hilarious how people can even give Marc Jackson any credence at all after his posts here in the last two years. But maybe my critics are not aware of the posts. Each to their own. TG

Yes, MJ may well be all that you allude - and no I didn't see his posts (what is his user id?). My only experience of MJ is the video of that interview prior to the (not) take-over of Bournemouth and I agree that he may as well have had "I am a c n u t" tattooed on his forehead. None of this tells me anything of the group that he and Green are alledgedly fronting. It could be that his name is just associated with this group by the press because he is the only name they know. For all I know the rest of the group also think he is a c n u t and want him to go away. So, excluding MJ from the equation, what do you know about the people involved in this bid that leads you to believe that it is a disaster waiting to happen?

JustMike Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 I find it inconceivable that posters here are prepared to give Marc Jackson a chance. Are you that stupid? Watch the interview. He got ousted by the Bournemouth consortium he was involved with the following day. The guy is a walking bull**** zone with absolutely zero credibility. http://asf.narrowstep.tv/mcp?psid=86...d=175029&fab=0 I hope that Jackson is being entertained by Mark Fry only on the basis to get other possible bidders to up their price for the creditors. to be fair, you know nothing about the guy, or his backers, so before you start calling people stupid, id at least get the full facts. Plus if it meant us surviving then bring it on.
OldNick Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 Why do people assume that we are backing Marc Jackson just because posters have stated (quite sensibly) that if there is no alternative they would be very very pleased for ANYONE (including Jackson) to take us over? TopGun are you really that stupid? What part of if there is no alternative do you understand? He is the last resort and if his actions mean we still end up with a club next year then I will thank him.Hypo but you posted up the interview that caused a lot of derision? I dont understand your mindset to do that.It has only reinforced the anti Mj brigade. MJ was at Saintsaid and was as usual very respectful and none of the big Iam.I just dont get it

To be fair - you have to have had the full MJ experience to really appreciate why many of us are very sceptical (and worried) about what might transpire. Mr Jackson (or as known on here, LifeLongSaint) posted many many, how shall I say, errr colourful posts during his time on the forum. They ranged from all manner of things, including the now infamous 'Blueprint for Success' which featured, bridges, boats, MLS and David Beckham of all people. He then went on to forge his AFCB connections, and attempted to put a team together to save them - but unfortunately his successful bid lasted less than 24 hours I think. He then gave the TV interview that you have obviously seen, and the whole debacle descended into further chaos when he then decided to try to reason (argue) with the Cherries fans on their message board. I believe that in the end that was also monitored for legal reasons as well. So as you can appreciate - we posters that have experienced the full MJ experience have our doubts - and rightly so. People keep saying that we are jumping on his back and forming opinions on him. Yes we are - I form opinions on everybody on this forum - and it is based on what they post, because that is all I have got to go on - I do not know any of you. So as I have posted elsewhere, based on what I have see of MJ on here - I really wish him success as a middle man - but no more. Do your stuff, don't get in the way and f u c k off when the job is done. Personally though - I also have severe reservations about all this now. We have two pretty much respected posters sniping each other now. One is obviously in MJ's bed the other doesn't rate him at all - when the so called 'smart men' get that divided - then there has to be something wrong somewhere. FWIW I'm still praying for that much quoted (but never seen) 'oversees bid' to come in on the rails with a late push, but much as we all want the filly I think we are going to have to be happy with the donkey. We are waiting for the hangman, already one attempt has failed , the second is there and keen to let us escape if he loses his nerve we then have the escape hatch but it is an old one that has dithered for 18imonths and so might not actually be there to catch us. I would wait to be disappointed and then sticjk in the knife, I dearly want it to come true , i am sceptical but will fight to help it as I think it is the only way to safety at present

In other words, if this group successfully acquire SFC, there is nothing to suggest he will be involved in the running of the place. I guess what you are saying is that his very involvement even at this stage means that it is all likely to be the figment of his imagination or something - but surely when the Administrator does due diligence on the potential bidder it must involve some proof of funds before he will give them the time of day? All that aside, I am currently sceptical that there really is a real buyer out there that can really step up to the plate. I expect MLT is either still quietly confident or he is wishing he had never heard on Pinnacle.

But come to this we have - and many people on here advocated administration, believing there would be a queue of super rich people all waiting to snap us up. The early signs actually bore them out - what was it 35 plus intersted parties. But actually now, when we have to cut to the chase, what is there, nothing, zilch, naff all - there appears to be only LLS. Therefore much as I hate the prospect of what this might bring - I have to wish him all the best and hope that he comes through. To answer some of your points though - during the Bournemouth thing there was mention there of a 'post' - memory fades but I do actually think manager or assistant manager was mentioned - which or course is a little scarey. Like you - I too have also noted that MLT appears quiet at the moment - I fear that Pinnacle have fallen by the wayside and that Matt maybe ready to just play ambassador to any parties that he feels can do the deal. Where all of this leaves us - god only knows - dont you long for the good old days when you could sprout lines like 'The futures bright the futures Red n White'. Right now the future - if we have one - appears pretty damn bleak from where I'm sitting.

I spent all afternoon spending money at the Save our Saints fun day and came away feeling like it was a drop in the ocean. The last £3.00 I spent was on face painting for my 5 year old. SFC Forever Posted 23 May, 2009 Posted 23 May, 2009 (edited) I have just read the whole thread and feel bemused. None of the questions seem to be easy to either understand or answer. I dislike Lowe for his mistakes and pompously arogant mannerisms. Marc Jackson may be a fool of the highest order. Previous board members have let us down intolerably. Yet if any one of them came in and saved the club(EVEN LOWE) I would still be a saints supporter. I have been watching our team for 56 years(old git) and would dearly like my kids to have the chance to do the same. Saint in Paradise Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 If all of us posters were real animals the R.S.P.C.A. would have us all put to sleep to avoid further neglect and suffering. They would then proscecute the recievers and bidders. All IMHO of course

I find this quite bizarre really - and I'm not getting at you. But last season and the season before people on this site moaned and moaned about anything and everything to do with the club. The players, the manager, the tactics, the board, the picture - everything. Many welcomed administration and couldn't wait for it to happen. Now it has happened, and there is a very real possibiltiy that there wont be a club next season, most fans appear willing to accept anything, anything at all just so long as there is something left to support. If we somehow manage to scrape out of this hell hole - it will be interesting to see if the grass is any greener (npi) on the other side.

SFC Forever Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 I may be a bit slow but 8.5m must be close to the required sum. The problem then is how much more will there be for normal running costs? Players and a manager need to be found pretty damn quick and they all cost money. The sooner we get bought the sooner we can start thinking about season tickets. I would also suggest that a friendly pre-season match against the enemy would be a good money spinner. Not that they are ever friendly. I would have thought that the consortium expectations seem a bit high with regard to the attendance estimate but if they are close it would certainly help.

I raised my hands to admit that my reluctance to see the matches more often helped our decline. I also don't really want any of the previous board back but I am prepared to learn from my errors(occasionally). I fully expect the grass to be the same unpleasant colour but am prepared to swallow my pride and hope that by backing the new owner/s we can at least give them a chance. They will deserve at least a chance to get it right. The previous regime made many blunders and we have to pray that we don't go through the same catastrophic scenario again. A divided board and fanbase didn't help. By getting behind the next lot we will at least have the chance to see our team play. We think we know that money will be tight so won't expect many signings. All we really want is a team of tryers that can actually win some games, consolidate and grow.
dubai_phil Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 Source - a contact at the FL (I obviously cannot name this person) who is liaising with the club regarding next seasons fixtures. Afraid to say your man isn't very ITK then. Look, there is a serious point to my responses, which i have posted time and again, and actually which kpturner put very well. At THIS moment in time, there are simply no facts about the bid in the public eye. The simple reason for this is that the bidders chose to abide by the NDA's that they signed when they first asked for information and proved funds. How many public utterances regarding this bid has MJ made? Surely from the Bournemouth debacle we should have expected him to be printing his manifesto and whacko for jacko T-Shirts by now. I am in no way defending him or what happened at Bournemouth, and I have used words like emotional immaturity and far stronger to describe him. BUT Everyone ignores the other name, somebody who has a track record of trying to help the club and who got off his butt and tried to bring the warring shareholders together. The TIME to mount all these attacks will be WHEN (as the forum perceives) his bid fails. Only a few people have stepped back and listened when it has been suggested that there could be wise people involved in this bid. It won't be Paul Allen, but it won't be MJ on his own either. Right now, there is a very real probability that this club will not exist in the next week or so. Anyone who thinks SMS could be retained by a team in the Blue Square should take a look at the last set of published accounts where you can see that SMS costs around 2mil a year to run, that's without any rent or interest or wages or cost of renting coaches to away games etc. We are in REALLY deep sh*t, that's what Admin means. And if Paul Allen et al did come along I think you may find that Stuart Green et al will be as excited and ecstatic as anyone else. This group have already put money up by agreeing to pay for the costs of this secondary Due Dilligence. Demanding they pull out now or stating you'd have nothing to do with them when you don't know who is really involved or what the real alternatives are is crazy, save it for later when, if as you are so sure you can say told you so. kpturner was in tears at the thought that SMS may not be there next season, that is a very real risk. We don't have the OPTION to take any more risks, Rupert did that to us with his stupid gamble and the execs Wilde & Crouch also did it to us when they saddled us with a wage bill we could never afford if we didn't get promoted Find another option.

Wade Garrett Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 'beggars can't be choosers', 'I'd rather have this than no club at all'. Very obvious platitudes which nobody can argue with. However.... forget about Jackson, it ain't gonna happen. I reckon he enjoys the attention, and that is it.

We have messed up our chnaces of selling 9000 ST for next season. I think we will do well to have an average of 15k with a spread of between 12k and 18k.
Amesbury Saint Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 "Beggers can't be choosers" Agreed. To have league football for at SMS next year we new a buyer. Whoever buys the club, I will support. SaintRobbie Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 I hope that Jackson is being entertained by Mark Fry only on the basis to get other possible bidders to up their price for the creditors. I think there may be some truth in that statement. MLT looked pretty cool yesterday on SSN.

Any half decent bidder will do an assessemnt of the competition and the resorces they have. The administrator does not have time to waste, so only, at this stage, be dealing with serious bids.
hypochondriac Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 I'm not sure how far I trust Morph. His posts were quite aggressive towards Phil. I know who Phil is but I don't know Morph. He showed his true colours with that outburst last year.
Scummer Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 Everyone ignores the other name, somebody who has a track record of trying to help the club and who got off his butt and tried to bring the warring shareholders together. Green? But he was also involved in the Tricon/Trican/Barry the Briefcase bid. Not exactly an untarnished name.
Weston Super Saint Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 A tough choice, but we'd probably be better off starting all over again than have a Jackson influence! I think some people have forgotten the fact that he was the one that gave us Barry the Briefcase!! You guys have every right to believe if you want, but I'm with Topgun here. Walter Mitty will not be involved with our club...

Walter Mitty will not be involved with our club... I am inclined to think his bid is for self publicity, hence Fry's call for the payment of a non refundable £500K to continue exclusively with those who are serious. But, if he is all we have we must take it, if anything it buys us time for MJ to find another owner and sell next season.

Viking Warrior Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 Hypo I though Morph was a woman, gets quite aggressive when question the contacts he/she is involved with. Closely linked to Mary Corbett I believe or is it crouch.
Viking Warrior Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 Topgun I am neither stupid or niave but I can see exactly how fragile our existence is. Sure MJ and co over egged the previous TO's but Im of the opinion that he has learned from his mistakes, and is doing everything he can to save saints through his various sources. So cut the man some slck Top gun. your comments are not helpful You wrote "Does that mean I am not a supporter of Saints?" My answer to you is an emphatic no. You have obviously attended the Alpine Saints supporters appreciation society. Let me remind you, the club is in deep schitt. and need all the support and help it can muster to stay alive
CB Fry Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 I don`t care if Adolf Hitler, George Bush or Dale Winton (insert your own stupid name here) come in to buy the club as long as THERE IS ONE TO SUPPORT. The alternative is NO CLUB! Do people really understand this? This is why businessmen will continue to make huge sums from football fans. They are, by and large, idiots. I'd quite like our new regime to be reasonable, rational, honourable businessmen with some kind of track record of genuine success behind them. Just any old bloke, oh I don't care. Rapist you say? Fair enough, up the saints. And I wouldn't be so bothered about this "anyone will do" attitude but the precise same people will be droning on about the "spirit of Southampton" and "honour" and "loyalty" and "fans taken for granted" and "the true meaning of football" within six months of the new regime taking over.
LestWeForget Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 Afraid to say your man isn't very ITK then.. Just checked with my contact... you may well be correct.. My source tells me the info they have is a week or so old, and may not actually be the "consortium" in question .... I therefore withdraw my remarks. However, dear sourcey person affirms that this info does relate to ONE of the offers received by Mr Fry.

I can assure you that I am not an idiot. I was resonding to to TopGun who said that if MJ was involved in any way with the club then he was off. He is willing to make that statement without knowing any of the facts re:- the MJ/SG consortium. That to me is idiocy. We are not in a position to have any influence as to who buys our club. All I want is a club to support next year. Ideally I would like any new regime to be "reasonable, rational, honourable businessmen" but we are in the situation where beggars can`t be choosers aren`t we?

I concour, we will have a long time to mull over our decision if we do not get bought. Surely even if they save us for 2 seasons it may give others time to make a bid for us when the economic situation is better.
up and away Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 He is a broker, don't judge him, half the people on here probably have more cash that Jackson. I will reserve judgement until I know who he is representing. We have more than enough from recent times to be able to judge him, that is no where near an issue. What we have not had is a freefall of this magnitude before. Making the drop by plane would have been preferable, parachute at a pinch, but if you only have a hankie, you still cling on for all you are worth. I have no issue with the guy no matter how cringeworthy things have got in the past, it's not as if he is blocking Gavyn Davies or Salz from getting to the front!

What it shows is that the situation is extremely fluid, things can change on a day to day basis and it is still a time of extreme danger for the existence of the club. The analogy I keep referring back to is incredibly apt, hitting a moving target while blindfolded on a skateboard rolling down a hill. We wait and we judge when we have the full facts and story, our one fact today is still there is only one bid which is "Indicative" with Fry and that they are proceeding. That is a long way from a deal is done, contracts drawn up and cheques in the post, and it scares the cr*p out of many of us that it is the only one

niceandfriendly Posted 24 May, 2009 Posted 24 May, 2009 People are looking for a new Lowe type figure to hate which will give them a reason to boycott. Jackson is the perfect candidate. you can see it now, "we won't be returning until the cancer that is Marc Jackson has been removed from this club"

First of many?
