stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Essentially a play-off for the quarter-finals, winner goes through. Hampshire team: Lumb, Carberry, Ervine, Adams, Benham, Dawson, Pothas, Cork, Taylor, Tahir, Riazuddin. Notts won the toss and are batting first. Cork gets Wagh caught and bowled first ball Currently 7/1 off 4.2 overs.

stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 25/3... Cork with all of them, the last of which was a stumping - seems odd that Pothas would be up at the stumps to Cork, who's not exactly a medium-pacer!
The Saturday Boy Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 I might be tempting fate here but if Hampshire win today, do they finish top of the group? Presuming Worcs beat Ireland, will it come down to net run rate or is it the results between the two teams? The group winners are guaranteed a home tie in the quarters on Saturday. stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 31/4 Riazuddin bowls Voges for 17. At this rate, it looks as though Pothas is going to bowl Cork and Riazuddin right through their 10 overs each in one go. Slightly risky, but possibly worth the risk. stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Worcestershire would finish above us on account of both sides having won 5 games and then Worcestershire having won both games against us.
stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 44/5, Jefferson run out for 12. Pretty much into the last recognised batsmen now, which is clearly when we'll go and make a mess of it and let them off the hook again.
stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 74/7 Even Carberry's taken a wicket!

stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 We have to bat though Steve. Looking good at present. Yeah, that's the part I'm worried about, particularly without the sort of player who would be ideal at chasing down relatively low scores, Sir John of Crawley. Lets B Avenue Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 C'mon Ireland. if they win, Hants get a home draw on Saturday. Draw to be made on Sky after the Warwicks v Kent game. If Worcester win we will be away to either Lancs or Somerset on saturday or Gloucester some time in June, as they have the England game at the weekend. Worcester 50-6 off 14. chrisobee Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Excellent stuff, I only just went to check the score a while ago on Cricinfo and saw the headline "Hants blitz Notts" which was clearly exactly what I wanted to see! Worcs losing is a real bonus for us and Notts so both teams can thank the Irish
chrisobee Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Best performance from an all rounder in recent memory. Didn't concede a single run and was not out so unless he dropped a catch didn't put a foot wrong! Can only think the pitch was so conducive to seam/swing bowling they bowled Carberry and Ervine instead ?
chrisobee Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 QF draw: Lancashire v Essex; Gloucestershire v Nottinghamshire; Hampshire v Middlesex; Somerset v Sussex
stevegrant Posted 20 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Very happy with that draw. I don't think Phil Hughes is with them anymore, and Eoin Morgan and Owais Shah are with the England ODI squad so won't be available either. £7.50 for advance members tickets... bargain
NI76 Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Didn't concede a single run and was not out so unless he dropped a catch didn't put a foot wrong! Can only think the pitch was so conducive to seam/swing bowling they bowled Carberry and Ervine instead ? Carberry bowls spin (off of the shortest run/walk-up I've ever seen!) so very strange that he bowled and Dawson didn't but it worked so can't complain. Middx is about the best draw we could have hoped for as long as ****gy doesn't have his usual blinder against us.
chrisobee Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 Hughes I'm sure played his last game for Middx on Monday as he was talking about how he had enjoyed his time with them. With no Strauss as well of course their team does look pretty weak and I agree it's the best draw we could have had. Udal probably will play a blinder but in bowling terms I'd much prefer to have Tahir.
