Lundekvam facing 6 months jail

Master Bates

Oh dear, first drink driving and fleeing the scene of a crash, then in March found with drugs and now he's been bailed until May 11th for assaulting a woman, what's next Claus?

Let's keep an open mind shall we until we know the facts. She might have deserved it.

True....... although full sentence says "......has been arrested and charged with section 39 common assault. Lundekvam has been bailed to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court May 11th".

If already charged then surely she didn't deserve it?

Unless it is subsequently proved to be self defence. Just because he's charged with an offence doesn't mean he's guilty.

Common Assault? That is a simple as a little back hander that leaves no marking. Infact I know of someone who got charged for that for 'poking' someone.

I am sure she was probably gobbing off or pestering him for a line, so she deserved it.

There doesn't even have to be contact for assault; just the threat.

It amazed me that he has never been done before seein him in Town some nights its a wonder he could walk the next day let alone play.I still blame him for that 4-1 defeat at pompey.

If I recall correctly...I think it was the game when Michael Svensson got his serious injury- whilst warming up in that game.

The rapidly-reorganised defence was never ready for the Pompey onslaught.

for all we know, he may have smacked a burglar or something.... however, I doubt this is the case...

Or she could have been on the blag for a line... there is nothing more annoying than asking someone is they want a gram, they say no, then when you get the lines out they ask for one. WORST-THING-IN-THE-WORLD

If this is what happened, she deserved to get smacked.

Spoke to a mate last week who suggested Claus is not of sound mind at the minute, not solely because of the crimes he has committed because of certain behaviours, of course whatever he is taking has had an impact but clearly now needs help.

Although I still think 'idiot' as it is his lifestyle that has brought this about perhaps he is too proud/stubborn in moments of sobriety to listen to advice and seek help so perhaps a court order will go someway to put him right.

ALthough I do in no way shape or form have any sympathy for the alleged charges against him you have to ask yourself why why why has he got himself in this mess. As with anyone in life you come across all sorts of things that can lead you to do things which are completely alien to your normal way of life but normally something or someone has triggered off something which causes you to act in a diff way. I thnink that poor Claus is a bit like Gascoigne and cannot cope with no longer being able to play football at a professional level and has turned even more to drink to help him through. Lets say hopefully he will learn from this and get the help thats needed before he ends up killing himself or someone else. IMO he was a great servant to the club and I for one was always glad to see him on the team sheet. At the end of the day we have all done something in our lives that we are not proud of lets hope that he reads these threads and turns things around for the sake of his family,I did go to his testomonial and remember something about him paying for it to go ahead. I have to say it was a good night and he well deserved it IMO

Smacked? Aren't you mixing up your drugs?

there is a WORST-THING-IN-THE-WORLD than that, when a bird still expects a line when she hasn't swallowed.

Lets hope he DOESN'T read these threads. God if i were him i'd be suicidal knowing there are so many narrow minded, judgemental, self righteous hypocrites in the world.

Svensson was injured prior to the game the previous season when they beat us 1-0. I honestly believe if he hadn't been injured in the warm up we wouldn't have lost that game, the Skates wouldn't have had a resurgence in form, and thus would have been relegated.

Anyway with regards to Claus, there's clearly something not right with the bloke.

I remember that game well, seeing the players in the tunnel before kick off they looked like frightend rabbits. Niemi, Lundekvam etc I knew then we were going to lose badly that day and go down, that team had no bottle.

clearly you dont remember it that well as svensson's injury was the year previous. but one thing you are right about is the terrified look on claus's face during the warm up to that game. i was watching them from the first row at fratton and it was obvious they wernt up for it

Did i mention Svenson anywhere? I was reply to the previous poster about remembering the game, nothing to do with Svenson so pipe down, but just to be clear, I am fully aware when he got injured and just for the record, it was a calf injury in the warm up at Fratton Park (we lost 1-0 March 2004, yakubu scored the winner after about 70 minutes and Phillips hit a post in injury time) and then he injured his knee in training coming back from that injury. Also Crouch was "injured" or for some reason unavailable and pulled out just before kick off at Fratton Park for the 1-4 game and couldn't play so we had to go with Camara (who scored our goal, ran onto a through ball and put it into the bottom left corner as you face the Fratton end to make it 1-2) and Phillips up front. I also recall, like it was yesterday, Matt Taylor punching the net after their third goal and have hated him ever since. I dont think, or at least hope, we will ever see a more shameful, bottleless performance from a saints team ever again. Is that clear enough for you?

Meh, check out all you gumbo's.

I personally don't give a f*ck what Claus does in his own time, especially now when he has absolutely nothing to do with SFC.

Get off your high horses people, legends make their names on that green bit of grass on the pitch, they don't lose that status for what they do off it, when they have retired.

What a load of ******** :smt043

do you class him as a legend? Decent player, nothing close to legend in my book.

Modern day legend, and unfortunately the last person you will ever see play 350 games for Southampton, for that reason alone he deserves legend status.

Not the best player we have ever had, but a very good one and he could have moved on more than once... at his peak he was world-class.

People class Benali and Marsden (why? he was only here three seasons) as legends, the title legend seems to be easily bestowed these days, wont be long before Stu and I are TSF legends. :D

So if he raped and murdered a 7 year old child you would still think of him as a legend?

And while we are talking about legends, Claus is really not in the same class as Ron Davies, Mike Channon and all of the real Saints legends is he? He was also awful in our relegation season.

disagree, he was good for us, but probably never even best CB in the club during his time here, so for me both character and ability leave him far short of legend status.

Would Claus get into anyones top Saints side? I would put players like Mark Wright, Dave Watson even Andrew Davies above him.

CBs -

Waldron

Wright

Nicholl

Watson

Ruddock

Richards

Svennson

Monkou

Osman

Even if he did, you can't take away the 350 appearances for Southampton, which puts him in the top 10 in Southampton's 125 year history.

So yes, LEGEND.

leg·end (ljnd)

n.

1.

a. An unverified story handed down from earlier times, especially one popularly believed to be historical.

b. A body or collection of such stories.

c. A romanticized or popularized myth of modern times.

Note point C- if Stu romanticises he is a legend, then is his. Jog on the lot of you.

  • 4 weeks later...

Claus was just on Norwegian telly. Checked in on the "Tony Adams clinique?" in the middle of May.

He was talking openly about going into a dark place when his career ended. Needed a substitute for the footie. Started to drink heavily and doing drugs.

Honest interwiew, had some difficulties talking about it. Close to tears at the end of it when thinking of what sort of man he had been in this period.
