Last Sunday at Bournemouth International Airport (the portacabin) I bumped into a very successful Southampton businessman and fan (He used to have a box) who is in the same line of business as me, don't really know him very well but enough to say hello and have a quick chat. I did ask him about Saints and he said I certainly wasn't the first, he'd had a lot of media interest because of who he is etc (I reckons he may be worth about 10 to 20 million but I only assume that because he sold his share of the company for 8 and he's subsequently gone on and done (seemingly) well in other business interests etc). Anyway, to the point, he told me that he was offered (or maybe mooted) to buy St Marys (the stadium only) for £4.5M. I dismissed it at first, thinking that there was what, a 25 million mortagage on it etc, but after hearing that the whole shabang is up for 8 or 9 perhaps it is true.

To most people this is still a lot of money but to SCC surely this would be a price worth paying to secure one of the city's biggest assets and no matter who comes and goes from the club, we can be assured that the actual ground, which is essentially the fabric of SFC will always be secure.

Early doors i cannot see the stadium being bought for anything less than £10m.

I imagine the valuation of the Stadium is why there has been stalemate.

I did ask you at the time not to disclose any of this to anyone.

That's where you've been, smashed up things and creatures and then retreating back into your money of your vast carelessness, letting other people clean up the mess you've made.

Good Evening Marc,

Is the grass getting any greener or did MF discover you were shallow rooted weeds as oppose to hardy perennials? Or perhaps you decided to go back and sit in the trees until the bones of the Pinnacle bid had been picked over? Please let the forum know the story so far from your perspective. Are you grooming your white charger?

good ole Tom had different personalities and had an interest in many clubs, which is something in common with Sundance, Nineteen, Flashman, Thrid Bear or whoever he is this month;)

That's OK, I appreciate the clarification. Pity the poster couldn't tell me in a recent exchange of pms because as you know I at least attempt to address mistaken cases of identity whether I'm believed or not. (Cue Um Pahars)

And of course the biggest case of mistaken identity is that you weren't Sundance, Flashman, Third Bear etc etc etc:rolleyes::D;)

We're all sooooooooooo confused.:smt041;)

Entirely predictable and still proving the theory. Don't you worry you may be developing an unhealthy obsession. Let me know I may be able to help.

unhealthy obsession..

Hey Troll boy, I think everyone has witnessed your own unhealthy obsession of many things on here under your various guises (19C, Sundance, Third Bear, Flashman etc etc etc).;)

Everyone of them slightly more obsessed and rabid than their previous incarnation:D

Pray tell what makes you so obsessed with trolling that you have come back under many guises???

Simple question: Why have you had so many monikers on here???;)

Yes I think you have a point there.

I was expecting to read a sensible post from UM on the subject

Trust me, with regards our resident troll Sundance, 19C, Flashman, Third Bear etc etc etc, my posts were eminently sensible.:smt117

With regards selling SMS seperately, then I have always been of the view that it is totally dependent on whether or not the Football Club stays as a going concern.

The value changes massively if there is no tenant willing to pay "rental income", so any deal on the stadium will be inextricably linked to to the sale (or not) of the Club. I could see it being sold to a seperate entity, but I think the decision on the future of the Club will have to come first (Is that OK for you JohnB???;)).

Yes thank you my thoughts too.

Do other non Premiership clubs have large debts on Stadiums which they need to service like Derby

On the other point I reserve judgement as you just appear to be throwing petrol on a burning fire

Many of them managed to renegotiate/reduce their debts (e.g. Lecicester)when the penalties weren't as stringent and perhaps more importantly the wider economy was a lot more buoyant.

Well like most trolls he'll eventually burn himself out (problem with our resident troll is desire to pop back up under different names;))

It is the Stadium Debt which is causing the problem with these bids I would have thought .

Even if we were not in administration serving that debt is/was a millstone around our neck

High repayments and running costs of SMS certainly have been a problem recently, but the club have had far more out of the stadium than it has ever cost us.

If we ever get out of this mess, a quality stadium will be the launch pad for a climb back up, as crowds return to see a winning team. And I for one think SMS is a fine stadium, with plenty of atmos on a good day.

As a matter of interest, does anyone know the running costs of SMS other than the mortgage repamnts?
