Mole Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Sadly i think our fanbase is probably the most fragmented of all clubs in the football league in terms of online supporters. Trolls such as nineteen beast are sadly to be expected, but even after taking his ilk out of the equation the divisions caused by 10 years of Lowe will take some time to get over. I suppose you could compare Saints to England following the civil war. Will we ever be a united club again?
Scudamore Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Well it's good to finally know we excel at something...

notnowcato Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 .....and your thoughts are based on what?? Is Lowe to blame for all other fan divisions?? FWIW I am not a Lowe fan.
Pancake Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Trolls such as nineteen beast are sadly to be expected... Im not sure someone that has s different view to yourself is always a troll Stanley. A tiny bit sensationalist there.
OldNick Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 read any football club forum and you will see the divisions.Even the Man U one will have moning. Some will want Tevez others wont. The problem here is that at present whatever is posted about somebody will try and make a point about our former chairman and so it gets diverted.Or 19 will post and people immedialtely get on his case. I would be more than happy to never have to debate the past politics again if it was agreed. In fact if the mods could arrange it everytime they were mentioned a £1 foine should be levied to the club of charity that would stop it.
The9 Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 I don't think people arguing on Forums makes the blindest bit of difference to The Real World, to be honest, and due to people not tending to want to have complex discussions on the nuances of the problem it rarely manifests itself at matches either - the hilarious "early walk-out" shouting match against Charlton aside... I'd take anyone as owners at the moment, except maybe that Jackson bloke cos I think I could cr@p a better plan than the one with the Monkey Dinosaur Petting Zoo or whatever it was. Hell, maybe HE'D re-unite us... behind "anything else".
Toadhall Saint Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Sadly Stanley I'm of the same opinion. Virtually every thread ends up or in part with a slgging match. I'm all for debate (which most of it isn't) but until we can put the past behind us then I think we will remain fragmented. If there was a time to be united it is now at the most crucial time in SFC's history. But hey lets not worry about that the Ex directors are the ones that matter!

Rocker268 Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 This may be a little naive but I believe that by the mid part of next season the majority of arguments will have gone, they may well be replaced by others but I can't see people turning everything to Lowe or another ex board members fault once we have new owners a new manager and a new season all under way

Two comments When dying of thirst in the desert and being offered the last liquid which is a can of Pepsi, it may not be a wise decision to insist on only drinking Diet 7Up and A wise man waits for all the facts Simply because the facts are often forgotten or twisted around or misquoted or misheard, that leads to first impressions becoming very hard to overcome which can lead to more arguments. Debate is good, humour is good, but sometimes you just have to take the Pepsi and hope that it turns out to be the real stuff, not some cheap fake (sheikh) one.
OldNick Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 not some cheap fake (sheikh) one.I do hope that is not the news we have been waiting for!!!
Frank's cousin Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Sorry, but i think te only talk of fan divison in on here amongst about the same 20-30 posters - sorry its not division but opinion - opinions formed froma variety of sources depending on how far you delve into the nitty gritty.... superficially its a no brainer - Lowe , Lowe, Lowe is the biggest bastard and failure ever at the club, and those such as Crouch the biggest hero - dig deeper and deeper and the picture is not so clear cut with both having pros and cons depending on where you persoanlly stand on the relative importance of things - it all becomes a bit more murky the deeper you go, more complex and ultimately of less interest to the majority (arguably because it makes no difference to the situation or end result). Multiply that all by how much faith we put in the urban myths that have sprung up, the rumour and gossip and its no wonder that amongst the 30 or so obsessives such as us it becomes very polarised. All I like to see is folks giving teh logic and rationale for thier opinion rather than the single line dismissives because if someone wants to effect a change in my POV its only going to be by logic and relating FACTual info, not by 'comedy' one liners designed to provoke.

offix Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Will we ever be a united club again? Sure! IF (big "if") we get bought we will unite once again in our effort to climb out of the third division, and if we are not bought we will unite at least once a year in our annual derby against Eastleigh.

Watch yourself though, you may need a hat for the bile about to come your way for suggesting that those 'fair-weather' supporters may have a responsibility to the club. Oh no, that's right, they're just customers. I suggest they go down the other end of the M27 and take their 'custom' with them.

Michael Wilde is the reason that any fans removed their financial support for the club. He brought the hated Lowe back. Lowe sacked Nigel Pearson and brought in two clueless rejects that rubber stamped the second relegation under his stewardship. I said i wouldn't attend St Marys if Wilde bought Lowe back as did many others. Wilde was warned but he did it anyway. Therefore he only has himself to blame for the low gates.
Ludwig Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Exactly Stanley, the only type of division on this site should be racial.

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Love Lowe = hate Crouch. It's to be expected from Ruperts fan club. Is it the same the other way round? As i don`t hate lowe i just think he is an arrogant, egotistical idiot who made a fool of himself getting involved with football and we are paying the price for his stupidity. Most people acknowledge others had some part in our demise but their mistakes/****ups pale into insignificance in comparison to his disasters. Like Crouch?....Yes.. Hate Lowe?.....no just think he is an idiot.
Micky Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 (edited) What a total bollux post. Fans have differing opinions on a vast array of subjects concerning the club they support - we are no different to other clubs at all. Franks Cousin (post 16) and DPS (post 21) have got it spot on - the forum is here for (constructive) debate. FWIW I often agree with a lot of what 19 Canteen posts, he states his POV, doesn't sit on the fence and gives cogent reasoning as to why he holds such views. He may sit in the minority, but he puts himself up there whilst others remain in the forum 'saftey zone'. Unfortunately I don't have the balls to quote, support and respond to his posts because I know that it will only degenerate into name calling by others, and I really can't be arsed to get into petty arguments. Devided on here maybe - as are most clubs, but we are united in supporting Saints - no matter what our opinions on the thousands of variable that go to make up a football club.
