doggface Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 DP, Fry would have insisted on talking to the moneymen. How could MJ have "BS'd that? Fry would have insisted that any actual offer was linked with details as to who would actually be sending in the money There has only been one difference so far that I can see between Pinnacle & these guys - Pinnacle did all the talking in the media. Phil, Fry would not insist on dealing with the money men himself, MJ would be able to negotiate with Fry as an agent of the principles. On your other point, I'm sure that pinnacle have been dealing with the media but you only need look at the echo these past few weeks to know for a fact Jackson is doing the same if not worse! He may not be 100% full of BS, but we know from past history that he would be difficult to trust bearing in mind his immidiate past, I also know that some close to these going's on think the same. We were told of a meeting & conf call on 7th May with all the parties 2) MJ has made no statement to the press. An employee of SFC Ltd appears to have leaked the fact that MJ was at SMS on 7th May. If it wasn't an employee then it was Fry which is out of order. SG is the official spokesperson, I don't get the Echo but I think he has only made ONE statement so far. 3) I spoke to MJ this morning on messenger, neither he nor SG spoke to the Echo yesterday, so who else told that story today? 4) Agree it is hard to trust or take on trust anyone. These bids have by nature been put together very quickly. I expect if anyone could do a poll of everyone in any of these discussions I would expect No one trusts MJ No one trusts Fry Lynam no longer trusts one of his investment partners No one can keep their mouths shut at SMS so who's leaks can anyone believe And as for the Echo & Solent - Pink Bentley that may have been a Roller The PROBLEM is that I still haven't seen a viable alternative. If you have friends close to Pinnacle then they will be telling you what they believe the issues are that they are having. Think it is highly unlikely that their problems are caused by MJ's group. If it is so wrong that he is at least trying then Where the hell is everyone else that is supposed to be riding to our rescue? An overseas bidder? Hmm Think we've heard that one before A lunatic dyslexic FAN is the ONLY person left talking to Fry? Jesus that tells us a lot about our so called wealthy/benefactor/City Expert/uber fan/ Supporters doesn't it. What is the alternative right now at this moment? PLEASE somebody SOMEWHERE HELP. The Rover Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 Phil you say that Jackson and Green deny talking to the Echo but this part of the article (hope a small quote is OK Baj) seems to suggest that someone from their camp has done, don't you agree: The Daily Echo understands a second offer was submitted last night, however it still falls short of the asking price and the group is now waiting for a response from Fry. The group says it is ready to hand over £500,000 by way of advance to cover this month’s wage bill.
Weston Saint Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 I have to endorse Phil's post above. Marc Jackson has spent an inordinate amount of time trying to save SFC. He has had his highs followed by his lows and not much sleep. Whatever the outcome, and it is far from certain we will survive, at least he and Stuart Green are trying with the help of some knowledgable and helpful individuals. Give the guy a break. Crouch gave plenty of false promises and to a degree we have largely bought this upon ourselves and therefore it is petty to be questioning whether we get in the bunker 3 minutes after the 4 minute warning has been sounded because you may not like the hopes and dreams of your inmates. Micky Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 maybe mr jackson should conduct his affairs (if he is actually involved at all) in private, rather than contacting the echo's desk every 5 minutes. Some seem very keen to blow his trumpet, for me there appears to be as much negative to the positive so far. The negativity is borne by events surrounding the horrendous (public) mess when he was connected with the AFCB debacle - and as many have stated was justifiably warranted. The positivity probably stems from the fact that we are now so desperate for somebody (anybody) to buy us, we are grateful for his efforts. That said - I am totally unconvinced that he should be anything but a middleman - if he succeeds he should take the plaudits and any payoff, enjoy his 15 minutes of fame, stick his fingers up at those doubters that previously mocked him - and walk away. As FC has stated elsewhere - there were notions mooted that he had aspirations of an 'active' role at AFCB, and this is the part of the equation that worries me now. MJ may well be a very good facilitator, but I remain unconvinced that he really has the right skills for delivering a successful strategic plan for a professional football club. MJ is wearing his heart on his sleeve and busting a gut to do something to save the club - I only hope that it is done in good faith and he knows when to take a bow and say 'Thank you & good night'. FWIW I also asked how it was going and what the difficulties being faced by all parties in the negotiations appears to be and I received "You know I can't tell you but basically ***** ***** ** ******* *** feck frack feck (although tbf the spelling wasn't as good as my retyping of it ) So it's stressful and they are worried there is no safety net and has anyone else got any great ideas to help? Frank From what we were told on 7th there have been hitches on an almost hourly basis, I have no doubts that is still the case, and I would guess that the same has happened with Pinnacle who I still hope can get back into the game, but at least they are showing some fighting spirit and thick skins to be still trying. As for goalposts, yes they do move, simply because the situation is fluid, it has to be, as time moves so things change, when the porcess started we were playing football and had attendances paying ticket money, one big goalpost change was the loss of the Legends game, when it was originally thought up it was hoped the fans would respond. Unfortunately it didn't work out very well as we know, that change of circumstances changed the money that Fry could expect to come in to keep the business running. DaintyDave Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 T As FC has stated elsewhere - there were notions mooted that he had aspirations of an 'active' role at AFCB, and this is the part of the equation that worries me now. Maybe he can go back to his old job as a club scout heavily involved in the Saints Academy that he revealed (much to the surprise of the club's scouts and academy staff) to Meridian News. Obviously that is silly and a bit annoying but if there is no other way to save the club then he has my full support.
Running Man Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 ...So it's stressful and they are worried there is no safety net and has anyone else got any great ideas to help? Or should I just tell him to forget it in case it goes wrong again when I next catch him online? Perhaps he should save himself the stress, forget it and leave it to Pinnacle? If there is only one bidder, Fry might find it easier to choose and get the deal over and done with. Just a thought.
Frank's cousin Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 one big goalpost change was the loss of the Legends game, when it was originally thought up it was hoped the fans would respond. Unfortunately it didn't work out very well as we know, that change of circumstances changed the money that Fry could expect to come in to keep the business running. But Phil this was at best £20 x 20,000 - cost of puttinmg it on (£75k) - yield £325K at best a normal weeks revenue and not enough for more than two weeks wages...so all it has done is Reduce Fry's timeframe - Its unlikely that this would have changed 9mil to 14 mil within a space of a week...? Frank's cousin Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 My feeling would be that IF Pinnacle were say 2-3 mil short but had about 7 or 8 mil - AND MJ/SG have 8 mil on the table and a further 8 mil subject to the promotions in tehir business plan .....you know where this is going, why not get together and hey presto 16 mil available, buy the whole shebang outright and save the club debt free.... what could possibly stand in teh way of this if they all have saints best interests at heart and all the backers are fully committed? If they were both large(ish) groups backing the idividual bids then surely it will just reduce the amount of SFC they each own after it would all go through ?? Plus, who would be on the board etc ?? If it is just a small amount (maybe 1 or 2) money men then i expect it's all ego based. Both parties want to appear saviours. Plus, Fry is not going to suggest that as at the moment he can play them off against each other. Plus, Fry is not going to suggest that as at the moment he can play them off against each other. I would do it this way - If we need 14 mil then 1 share of a total of 10 will cost you 1.4 mil, buy 2 for 2.8 and you get 2 shares etc and two votes - the proviso is that each share owner can nominate one boardmember (with football board exoperience) or themselves (you pay you money you have the choice) as non execs - and then this board employs 3 executive via the normal channels, CEO, Finance, and Operations. Chair is then elected from this board and is given the casting vote. In terms of additional investment - following this purchase the business plan of five years is drawup and it should be based on neutral; return - eg living within L1 revenues - the 10 shares are then in effect p[laced at 50% of tehi value with each share owner or new investor able to do the same again byuy additional shares of now 5% for 1 mil a share - the more you invest the more ownership you have and the quicker these shares are sold (providing 10 mil of money to fund a promotion push or two) the sooner teh businessplan is updated.... simple really.
