COMEONYOUREDS Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 i'm afraid to say i have been 80-20 that we were going to fold once in admin, as i said continuously when people were saying they wanted us in admin to rid the club of lowe. Personally, considering some of the actions of some fans over the past 12 months, i don't think the club really deserves to survive (especially for them). So down on it all at the moment. **** off wupert
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Dont be such a sanctimonious ****. The fans are not responsible for this situtation. The board over the last five yeears took every decision. The falling crowds reflected the poor fare on offer. Don't dare criticise the fans you arsehole Amen. I thought people like him hated "I told you so" comments ?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Dont be such a sanctimonious ****. The fans are not responsible for this situtation. I'm not blaming the fans, I'm blaming SOME fans.
Leslie Charteris Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Not me either, I can honestly say if Southampton FC do not survive then I am going to give up football altogether. I cant build up any enthusiasm for any other club, I have invested a lot of money over the years in SFC and have lots of memories, no other team could ever come close. Same for me, Ladysaint. Here's my post from another thread: I saw Andover play quite a bit as a kid, we lived a few hundred yards from the Walled Meadow, but I never felt I was a supporter. I saw Reading and Ipswich now and then because we had family nearby, but I could never get very excited. If Saints go under I shall porbably give up following football altogether, there is just no other team I could feel the same way about, no other team I would feel the same rush for at 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. I cannot describe how bad I feel about the current situation, especially when you think the wages of one top Premiership player for one year could get us out of a spot and I imagine the administrator haggling over pennies. There is something badly wrong in English game and SFC is a symptom. If we are saying RIP SFC this time next week the FA and the FL need to take a long hard look at themselves, not for me - I won't be watching football, but for the sake of all those other fans who will suffer the way we have. :smt013
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 **** you *****. I'm not blaming the fans, I'm blaming SOME fans. And you are way off the mark with that too. Try blaming your Messiah for once.
ericofarabia Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 It's gonna be one hell of a Municipal football ground, though. Jumpers for Goalposts .... and this epitaph.
Wes Tender Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I'm afraid to say I have been 80-20 that we were going to fold once in admin, as I said continuously when people were saying they wanted us in admin to rid the club of Lowe. Personally, considering some of the actions of some fans over the past 12 months, I don't think the club really deserves to survive (especially for them). So down on it all at the moment. So who killed off the club? Lowe or some fans? There are the two sides of the coin. We have a decent manager, decent players, fair pricing and the stadium is full because with those things in place, we win games and people want to be there to witness the great entertainment on offer. The other side of the coin is that we have a succession of managers, some who are half decent, but others who are crap. We have some decent players, but they leave. We charge too much for watching kids lose each week. So I ask again. Who is to blame; the chairman and board, or the fans?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Amen. I thought people like him hated "I told you so" comments ? Hey, I will gladly have someone come tell me ' I told you so' if and when we get bought. I may even bend over for them. But until that happens I can apportion blame how I want to and to whom I wish to.
Barry the Badger Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Not me either, I can honestly say if Southampton FC do not survive then I am going to give up football altogether. I cant build up any enthusiasm for any other club, I have invested a lot of money over the years in SFC and have lots of memories, no other team could ever come close. Whatever happens there will be a Southampton Football team to support, be it AFC Southampton or whatever, something would rise from the ashes.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 If Saints go under and anyone makes the effort to make I told you so comments, I think the rest of us, however upset, should find the energy to make the effort to beat them to death. This site has been full of "those people who thought administration was a good idea" type comments for days now. I stand by my call for administration 1000%. I felt and still feel in the light of 10+ years of trying to find investment as a plc that it was the best way of shaking a buyer/investor out of the tree. The issue appears to go deeper. It seems we were a basket case irrespective of the time and manner we went out of business...
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Hey, I will gladly have someone come tell me ' I told you so' if and when we get bought. I may even bend over for them. But until that happens I can apportion blame how I want to and to whom I wish to. Then expect to be laughed at, ridiculed and abused for your trouble.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 And you are way off the mark with that too. Try blaming your Messiah for once. Oh yeah, Crouch, Lowe and Wilde are definitely responsible, but if the fans that didn't want to 'line' Rupes pockets went to the home games last year, the bank would nopt have foreclosed, and we would not be in admin. End of.
Third Division South Days Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 More positive news at 1pm. Although deadlines missed Pinnacle confident deal will go through. No mention of MF comments.

Chairman, board and fans, as well as managers and players, but as I don't have access to the 4 of them, some of the fans should know that part of this is THEIR responsibility.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 which is fine, but it doesn't then follow that 18,000 that do turn up and support, form/league/lowe regardless, deserve to lose their club. Agreed, I am one of them, and we certainly do not deserve to lose our club.

What do you say to those fans who would not attend St Mary's but gladly gave their money to other clubs? WELL DONE! Well I know clearly what to say to those same fans who are now complaining about the mess we are in. You share an equal responsibility to the position we now find ourselves in. Shut your mouth, grow a pair and stop whining!

Yeah, for not being stupid enough to pay rather more than peanuts to watch monkeys. Your pomposioty sounds so much like your hero, its unbelievable.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Then expect to be laughed at, ridiculed and abused for your trouble. I wouldn't mind Alpine, because I'd still have my club, much against your wishes.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Agreed, I am one of them, and we certainly do not deserve to lose our club. If I end up losing my club the pain will be a little dulled when I realise that sad little cliquey losers like you have lost yours too.
OldNick Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Yeah, for not being stupid enough to pay rather more than peanuts to watch monkeys. Your pomposioty sounds so much like your hero, its unbelievable.and to get back to somewhere in football in the future we will have to pay higher than our peers to go back up.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I wouldn't mind Alpine, because I'd still have my club, much against your wishes.

OldNick Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 If I end up losing my club the pain will be a little dulled when I realise that sad little cliquey losers like you have lost yours too. that is pathetic
RinNY Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 For what it's worth, Fiorentina went out of business completely about 7 or 8 years ago, were relergated in reconstituted form to the Italian 4th division, and are now up in 4th place in the Italian League and in the Champion's League. So there is always hope, even in the darkest times.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 and to get back to somewhere in football in the future we will have to pay higher than our peers to go back up. I agree - which gives a lie to the whole way in which Lowe went about his cost-cutting and has been demonstrably proven to be a series of false economies. All three of our strikers loaned out - utterly ridiculous...
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Yeah, for not being stupid enough to pay rather more than peanuts to watch monkeys. Your pomposioty sounds so much like your hero, its unbelievable. You know nothing about who my hero is, the same as I can't sit here and say your hero is Hitler or Fritzl. Just wind yer neck in son.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 that is pathetic No more so than any of the pompous c*ck-swinging bile that he has thrown on this thread.
OldNick Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I agree - which gives a lie to the whole way in which Lowe went about his cost-cutting and has been demonstrably proven to be a series of false economies. Wes Tender Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Chairman, board and fans, as well as managers and players, but as I don't have access to the 4 of them, some of the fans should know that part of this is THEIR responsibility. Complete and utter tosh. This is a business in the entertainment industry. If the customers refuse to buy into the product because they perceive it not to be good value for their expenditure, then it is the fault of the management. A customer is never at fault for the collapse of a business and has no responsibility for keeping it afloat. I know that some do not like this customer analogy, preferring to think of themselves as uber fans, but that is a hardcore which in itself is not large enough to keep us viable.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 You know nothing about who my hero is, the same as I can't sit here and say your hero is Hitler or Fritzl. Just wind yer neck in son. Me wind my neck in ? Its not me who has stamped his foot like a stroppy little girl who cant get her way, or like a cry baby laying in its pram throwing its toys out because its Mommy wont pick it up.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 and the 30k a week extra was going to come from??? We were struggling to cut our overdraft as it was Certainly not from Alpine's match revenue.

Nineteen Canteen Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I'm afraid to say I have been 80-20 that we were going to fold once in admin, as I said continuously when people were saying they wanted us in admin to rid the club of Lowe. Personally, considering some of the actions of some fans over the past 12 months, I don't think the club really deserves to survive (especially for them). So down on it all at the moment. Pretty much sums up my position. You only have to look at ST sales at Norwich to appreciate the meaning of fan loyalty vs team performance. Administration could have easily been avoided by instilling confidence in Barclays and the one thing Lowe couldn't dress up was the declining fanbase because it was based on ill-conceived and petty agendas. Uber fans like Crouch IMO no doubt sat smugly in their box surrounded by a bunch of told you so's when they could have done so much to help before it was too late. McMenemy bemoans the fact the fans didn't support some sad spectacle of a 'legends' game but I didn't hear any rallying crys to support the Saints back in September when we all knew what would happen if we didn't increase revenues. Apart from the hard core and loyal c.15,000 fans the rest may sadly be on the verge of getting what they deserve. Hardly solace for the rest of us but it seems that is all we have left to hang our coats on.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Certainly not from Alpine's match revenue. If it makes you feel so much better to blame me for Saints going under, I really, really, really pity you. I think you need to call Samaritans, because I reckon you are going to have trouble getting through this...
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Me wind my neck in ? Look, we're not going to agree, and I really am infinitely bored of you, so just go do one will you.
OldNick Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Then dont bleat that people starting voting with their feet and stopped turning up to watch complete b****cks then. If these supermen had not changed our foirtunes they still wouldnt have gone to games .High wages dont make guarenteed success.
Master Bates Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I know one thing for certain, you can't blame me - FACT
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 If it makes you feel so much better to blame me for Saints going under, I really, really, really pity you. I think you need to call Samaritans, because I reckon you are going to have trouble getting through this... If it helps I don't blame you one bit Alpine, because to do that I'd first have to class you as a fan.
70's Mike Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Oh yeah, Crouch, Lowe and Wilde are definitely responsible, but if the fans that didn't want to 'line' Rupes pockets went to the home games last year, the bank would nopt have foreclosed, and we would not be in admin. sotonist Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I can't see any argument against admin. It was inevitable. The longer we left it the less we had to offer to a buyer.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Yawn... Look, we're not going to agree, and I really am infinitely bored of you, so just go do one will you. Ahhhh, diddums. Starts pointing fingers then cannot hack it when others fight back... What ARE you going to do with your Saturday afternoons from now on ?
thorpie the sinner Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I know one thing for certain, you can't blame me - FACT I can!!!

alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I can't see any argument against admin. It was inevitable. The longer we left it the less we had to offer to a buyer. Yep. The whole blaming the fans thing is utterly contemptible.
alpine_saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 If it helps I don't blame you one bit Alpine, because to do that I'd first have to class you as a fan. You obviously have nothing to say, seeing as you've switched to pure abuse with zero content. Pathetic.
Pat from Poole Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Dont be such a sanctimonious ****. The fans are not responsible for this situtation. The board over the last five yeears took every decision. saint1977 Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 What they both said, Saints or nothing for me Yep, thirded. Some of the people on this thread are doing my head in though, the club hasn't been financed or run properly by ANY of the parties since 2004 so administration was unpleasant - as we finding out - but inevitable. Secure Retirement was never the right option in 1996 for anyone bar Guy Askham and chums (Rupert probably wishes he hadn't gone near us) and Wilde in 2006 was an awful frying pan to a white hot fire. Let's put the name-calling to one side and hope we still have a club to support eh?
