SFC Forever Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Well hopefully we will soon know once and for all. I am worried that we will be struggling to survive if nothing happens today.
saintjay77 Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Keegan lost it a long time ago he was wrong to go back to Newcastle - he was out of touch and well past his sell by date sure he did a great job at Fulham, Newcastle the first time around and City - but he seems to hit a wall - and then quit under pressure if he'd still been in real football when Newcastle came calling he might have been up to it - but he wasn't - and was out of touch and living in a different era a big mistake on all sides! I know there is fat chance of him coming to us anyway but if he did and stuck about a few seasons I have no doubt that he would get us back to the prem or at least challenging for the prem. I dont think he is cut out for managment at the top level but he is more than capable of taking clubs up from the lower leagues so could be fantastic for us. Wont happen though
Ken Tone Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 TBF he does have "World Class Skills". I always thought this was just a language problem with our Dutch friends. Someone obviously said , "As a footballer that Ryan smith has just about enough skill to work in a WC", and Wotte misunderstood. As for "ITKK" Phil .... Lol K. (not Kevin)
kpturner Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I have no doubt that he would get us back to the prem or at least challenging for the prem.I have every doubt that he would do that without a large wad of cash.
saintjay77 Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I have every doubt that he would do that without a large wad of cash. I dont think he has always spent big but I agree he would need a decent kitty to get us going in the direction. But then again I think anyone we have managing us will need a decent transfer budget as our team is shiite from shiite town up a shiite tree
buctootim Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Agree - But I think it is best for a clean sweep all round. I'd keep him on in some capacity. To be fair to the guy he seemed to have a good record with the reserves and stepped in as manager without really wanting the job.
Victor Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Ah!! but he is no clown is he? If your objection is to 'clowns' rather than 'Dutch, then surely you should not have mentioned their ethnicity, otherwise you are being racist? If it is the Dutch you object to, why just them and not all Netherlands nationals?
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Paul Ince.. Was just thinking the same.
Victor Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Time for a poll: Tisdale/Ince/Keegan/Shearer/Boothroyd/Coppell/Cambridge mush/Coterill/Dowie ...and Gary Speed!
Barry Horne Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I hope the "new" manager has got some of his own cash to spend, doesn't look like he's going to get any off the Pinnacle group...
Under Weststand Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Not in favour of KK. He seems to be a fair weather manager when he's got money to spend & its all going his way its fine but as soon as he has to actually manage a difficult situation he walks away so not for me. Also would accept Wotte if he stays but I think it would be better for a clean sweep. Ince would be my 1st choice as he's done the buisness at this level, Dragged Macclesfield up from almost certain relegation & got MK dons promoted. my only concern with ince is would he be off at the first oppertunity?
corsacar saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 All totally irrelevant if no one buys the club. What a devastating thought.
saintjay77 Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Time for a poll: Tisdale/Ince/Keegan/Shearer/Boothroyd/Coppell/Cambridge mush/Coterill/Dowie ...and Gary Speed! 2 Poll's would be better. 1st would be for managers we would like to be able to choose from Keegan/Shearer/Dowie/Hiddink/Mouriniho/Wenger/Fergy 2nd would be for managers that we would actually be able to choose from Woggy/Gray/T-Lady/Mr Kingston (my 10 year old daughters school footy team manager)/Ali Dia
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 All the above is utterley irrellevent and meaningless speculation UNTIL we have new owners which, as I write, now seems unlikely so there will probably be no SFC to be manager of, a prospect about which I am seriously upset. :-(
Crab Lungs Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 OK, I would be really worried if we got Ince. Such a brainless gob****e.
SW11_Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 I've just heard some strange news from somebody I know in Cambridgeshire Apparantely, Cambridge have given permission for Gary Brabin to speak to an unnamed League 1 club. Rumours are that it could be Saints God I'd hope it was someone a little more inspiring/ambitious than a fairly inexperienced non-league manager... Wouldn't give the best impression of the new boards ambitions. Personally I'd still go for Paul Ince.
mulletsaint Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Maybe they should just concentrate on buying the feckin club first eh?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 ...announce the change this week. Watch this space. Here we go again...
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Must be Claudio Ranieri.... Just been sacked by Juventus...
The9 Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 OK, I would be really worried if we got Ince. Such a brainless gob****e. Have to disagree, Blackburn didn't give him much time and at the level we might find ourselves next season* (and with the potential) we'd still be a decent place to rebuild a career and squad for that matter. I also think he might have learnt a little about humility after getting bombed out of Blackburn, I wonder if he went in with a big attitude and found the players didn't really know who he was...?

Rumours are that it could be Saints Could it be stockport? Aren't they without a manager. Also if we have approached someone to be our new manager I wouldnt be too upset if it was Jim Gannon.

Also if we have approached someone to be our new manager I wouldnt be too upset if it was Jim Gannon. I think it may well be Blackpool http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackpool/8056270.stm
manji Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Strachan ? He will definitely get the push if Rangers win the SPL.
DaintyDave Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Grabin's up at Blackpool today already. Oldham were also asking permission to talk to him a while back. KK won't take another job because it will affect his compo claim from Newcastle. If this rumour is even remotely true, which given the "accuracy" of the ITK and rumour crowd is highly unlikely, it would have to have been someone out of work at the time - a. you can't tap up managers and b. no manager in work would run the risk of talking to a "potential" ownership group until they had the deal done. Therefore IF the rumour is remotely true (same caveats) it would be Ince, Boothroyd or similar or, I suppose, Hoddle potentially. However, far more likely is that this is just yet more "my mate knows someone who said" crap

aintforever Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Heard from a good source last night that the mlt/pinnacle lot have already approached a manager and if successful will announce the change this week. Watch this space. Well your good source is quite obviously full of **** isn't he?
lordswoodsaints Posted 18 May, 2009 Author Posted 18 May, 2009 Well your good source is quite obviously full of **** isn't he? ever the wordsmith aintforever! the source is a friend of mine in the media (freelance),he does a bit for sky now and then and also does a bit for the national news channels. if you read my original post you will see that i suggested that IF the pinnacle/mlt bid was successful they would by the end of the week try and present to the world the manager that they have approached. it is obvious to me that if they have approached a manager it would have to be one of the 90 (give or take 1 or 2) out of work managers currently looking for a job. it is also obvious to me that any potential buyer would or should do the same thing unless they are content with giving wotte a chance, something i doubt will happen.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 they would by the end of the week try and present to the world the manager that they have approached. Its diffcult to get the south interested in our plight at the minute let alone 'the world'
doggface Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 (edited) I believe this is unlikely, as of the end of the week no preffered potential manager had been identified let alone approached by pinnacle. I was told that they would look to start the process once they had officially been given prefered bidder status, which as we all know is clearly taking alot longer than first thought by those involved. And no I do not know what the hold up is. Edited 18 May, 2009 by doggface change of wording
Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 May, 2009 Posted 18 May, 2009 Utterly fanciful thinking. We are nearer to closing the club down than deciding a manager unfortunately.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Well your good source is quite obviously full of **** isn't he? Like so many "good sources" on this forum. All full of sh*t,or full of ale or full of ale and sh*t. If I ever knew anything I'd tell you how I knew it. Unfortunately for us all I don't.

Fan The Flames Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 I hope its Coppell, he is the new Laurie Mac we are looking for.
Bakovnetski Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Rather than Paul Ince maybe Martin "Mad Dog" Allen? Probably fed up with Cheltenham by now.
Badger Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Rather than Paul Ince maybe Martin "Mad Dog" Allen? Probably fed up with Cheltenham by now. A fair few Cheltenham fans are fed up with him by now as well tbh. Many of the critiscisms are reminiscent of Burley's time with us;not knowing best team, constant changing making it unsettled, too many loans, etc. The other familiar theme heard and read "we can't afford to sack him". Off the field,I don't think we'd be too eager to appoint a manager who gets p!ssed and drops his pants in a town centre pub a couple of nights before an important home match : http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/news/Robins-boss-barred-pub-antics/article-968628-detail/article.html
Window Cleaner Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 (edited) I hope its Coppell, he is the new Laurie Mac we are looking for. Coppell is probably burnt out, consumed by the rapid rise and fall of Reading FC. Hard life being a football manager on fairly limited ressources, even Sir Alex had a spell when his sides were total crap. Then Quieroz came back Edited 19 May, 2009 by Window Cleaner
skintsaint Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 If its Souness taking over...Mr B Venison will be new manager.
Sheff Saint Posted 19 May, 2009 Posted 19 May, 2009 Any manager is a gamble but you can reduce that risk by going for someone with experience... For us next season there is almost no bad name. All mentioned would be good, if not somewhat wishful thinking! Tisdale, Cotteriall, Boothroyd, Keegan, Hoddle... Ince. Only one i'm not sure about is Ince for some reason. I'm not Ince's biggest fan but then i doubt he is a big Sheff Saint fan either!
